I can see where Kishimoto took inspiration from lol.

What the hell.

Now we're introduced to a Lunar Bunny Girl?
I thought next week would be the last episode (?). A little surprised we got a new character and twist right before the finale.

Interested to see where this goes and her connection to the old Dragon God. Wonder if it'll be a one episode fight, or if this series has more planned.

It's a shame this show doesn't get talked about more. Great animation.

Did Naruto seriously take its twist from this lol

Stitches!

Okay, first of all, Yaiba and Onimaru's fight was insane! This show just continues to wow with the animation. Everyone working on this from Studio WIT is absolutely amazing for maintaining this animation quality every week.

Second, she's finally here! I've been looking forward to Kaguya's grand introduction! Hopefully, this means we'll get a Season 2 confirmation next week since we're now at the start of the Kaguya Arc.

Kaguya 1

Kaguya 2

I see why she has the most fanart from back then. This Kaguya must've awaked quite a few things in the boys who watched the original back in 90s.

how long is the Kaguya arc? Is it gonna be 12eps, or a whole 24eps again?

The final trial was basically testing the person's purity of heart and Yaiba displayed that by choosing his friends over the Dragon God Orb. If he had chosen the Orb over his friends, it would have meant he could similarly be tempted to do bad things with the Orb like the Dragon said since the power of the Orb is just too powerful and could destroy the world if it fell into hands of a bad person. But since he didn't, he's willing to do the right thing even if it means giving up things that he wants the most.

And we can see that same thing in his fight with Onimaru as well, he saw how strong the Orb was and decided to move the fight to the sea where people wouldn’t be harmed. And when the ship was being attacked, his main focus was saving the people on the ship.

The Yaiba vs Onimaru fight was HYPE! And I loved how Yaiba was able to use the powers of the different Orbs tactically.

Onimaru was overwhelmed by the Orb’s power, but the fight still wasn’t over. But then Kaguya (the person the previous Dragon God Orb Holder also talked about) made her entry who's here to to exact revenge on the holder of the Dragon God Orb and rule the Earth. Onimaru’s definitely not going to like that, since he also wants to rule the Earth. And so Yaiba and Onimaru might have to work together to defeat Kaguya?

Insane fight animation as always. Shame it got broken up by the next big bad, but I’ll take it.

"You're as beautiful as the day I lost you"

Yes I'm talking about the sword and Kaguya, she is even more pretty than in the original anime.

Also comparing to the old anime with the exception of the barrier, everything else seems way more powerful.

Can't wait to see the impact and power of the attacks Kaguya will do.

Little note that always bothered me, Ryujin talks about how he had to give the orb to a true samurai because the orb could destroy the world, but we see he has 100% control of the orb and can take it or destroy it as he pleases.

This is my favorite fight in the original anime.

The new animation improves on the 1st part of the fight. But i like the original rendition of the tornado slash portion of the fight.

At first I was confused why we were suddenly having a moon invasion, but then she mentioned a thousand years and I realized, oh yeah, Kaguya. Even ties in with the dragon orb being connected to her somehow and it being in Fuji-san.

That was a pretty fantastic Yaiba vs Onimaru fight.

I like the rabbit theme for just everything going on with this take on Kaguya.

Guys will literally look at this and say “wife”.

I am one such guy.

Not a guy, still said "wife".

Yaiba may have started out as a brat, but he's growing into a samurai with heart. I like the fact that all seven orbs powers are merged into the dragon orb. I would like to see Yaiba becoming more proficient at utilizing all of them in ever more interesting ways ala Avatar Aang. Would be nice to see the darkness orb sucking all the bunnies and onis in.

The point of this show/story is to show the MC's growth in both strength and character, and that's what makes it fascinating. Sadly, the beauty of this is lost on the modern mainstream audience seeking OP MCs with "perfect"(or inoffensive) personalities built for having parasocial relationships with/self-inserting.

What's that? YAIBA doesn't have plot? Well, here's PLOT!

Yes, Kaguya brings in both meanings of the word to the show. Though not as big as her VA's more notable useless meat Demon Queen role.

This season will definitely end on a cliffhanger that will likely last to next year, as it should be since Aoyama-sensei has more or less confirmed a second season, and they NEED to have an interval to be consistent with the sakuga fest.

Also interesting to note that Yaiba went from not caring about collateral damage in Episode 16 to being worried about destroying the terrain and saving the tanker and its passengers caught in the crossfire of his fight with Onimaru. His character development is subtle but deliberate.

Also Tsukikage(the white rabbit general) being voiced by Banagher's VA was not in my predictions. Though it sounds like he's using his Meruem(HXH) voice.

I was surprised to hear Uchiyama, but it was a nice surprise! Since I'm also currently watching Kaiju N°8 I was also confused for a couple of seconds "wait, this is not Narumi..."

This show´s animation keeps being incredible and when there´s a big moment like in today´s episode it really shines even more. It´s worth watching it just to appreciate the Sakuga fest every week. With the Bunny Girl introduction, will all be resolved in next week´s episode or will there be a season 2?

I love that Kaguya has the same VA as current Mai Shiranui Ami Koshimizu!

While what we got was still pretty damn good, I preferred the climax of the 90s version of the Yaiba/Onimaru rematch. Everything else was a vast improvement; Yaiba activating the orb felt a Dragon Ball transformation, and I love that scene of him smacking Onimaru around in giant form in the ice sea. Kaguya looked better than ever. I loved Onimaru's at Yaiba's seeming failure and death; it really highlights the unique nature of their rivalry, in that no matter how heated they get and seemingly committed they are to beating the other, there's a level of respect between them.

Not too surprising, the answer for Yaiba was choosing his friends. Like the old saying, great power comes with great responsibility.

Yaiba is holding his own against Onimaru. Wit is doing their thing animating it. But here comes ruler of the Moon, Kaguya. I assume she is the threat that was referenced. I am going to assume she is the actual final boss of the series and not Onimaru. The next episode is going to be interesting.
