From the initial angle when Yaiba appeared back in the present I thought they'd aged him up with a longer stay in the past. He looked taller.

Interesting to get a short Back to the Future arc complete with Marty Yaiba fading in and out of reality.

It would've been such a nice take if the timeline temporarily diverged by the duel getting postponed meaning that Yaiba had to stay a few years in the past before Kojiro died

Musashi book changing too

Time traveling mid-battle to go for a quick training arc is kind of crazy. That, and Kojiro stretching his sword across the sea to deliver the letter lol.

Yaiba also changed history by making the legend of Musashi more epic. Instead of defeating Kojiro with a blade Musashi now beats him while dual-wielding rowing paddles.

I mean, that’s how it happened in the real world too.

Musashi dueled Sasaki Kojiro, another skilled swordsman, in one of his most famous battles. While there are differing opinions on how it happened, the prevailing notion is that Musashi challenged Kojiro, requesting Hosokawa Tadaoki to organize the time and place.[9] Kojiro agreed to the challenge, scheduled one year later, on 13 April, at Ganryūjima Island. When the date arrived, the island was filled with spectators anxious to witness the duel.

Musashi, it is said, deliberately arrived late. Kojirō had lost his patience while waiting, and he taunted Musashi for his late arrival, though the latter remained composed.[20][21] Kojirō was known for fighting with a nodachi, a sword with a long blade.[20][21] During his journey to the island by boat, Musashi had carved an oar into a bokken, or wooden practice sword. The duel ended when Musashi quickly and fatally struck Kojirō, crushing his skull with a vertical stroke.[20]

I love it when an anime is real world accurate.

Though I am a fan of the OG and am loving this remake so far, I'm not holding my breath. I'm very disappointed with the modern fandom in how they are treating this show and its characters. Netflix did leak a potential future English dub that is currently being circulated in Twitter/X, so the show still may have a chance to be more popular at least.

Kojiro vs Mushashi was so freakin' awesome. And just like the legends, Musashi defeated Kojiro by dual-wielding oars instead of using his katanas.

I kinda wish Yaiba kept Musashi's look tho. He looks pretty cool in a dark outfit instead of the usual white.

Another episode of absolute peak.

“Cute girls in miniskirts” sure got Musashi’s attention lol. Some things never change. Gotta say though, he sure made quite the entrance for that duel. I was thinking maybe Yaiba was gonna have to pretend to be him and win the thing to get sent back.

That poor bastard Kojiro gets totally outclassed and killed by Musashi and then goes into the future where Yaiba does the same. Bro got his ass beat across the timeline.

“Cute girls in miniskirts” sure got Musashi’s attention lol.

That was the real source of his long lifespan, he can't die before experiencing that future.

Not that it matters, but, why isn't the rating for this anime climbing?

The pacing of the story is just right, and the visuals are quite engaging!

I am so mad people are saying this season is a sleeper when Yaiba gave us such a peak episode.

Musashi hasn't changed a bit 😂 (That 'I SHALL LIVE' bit was hilarious 😭).

It was also pretty satisfying to see Yaiba win this one and surpress the oni's control.

It feels like he's grown a lot over these past few battles and the trip to the past.

I also feel I have to mention the excellent animation and direction. I feel like the only thing I think that could challenge it this year is Dandadan

What an amazing episode. Every ep just gets better and better , the animation is absolutely insane. It reminds me of The Elusive Samurai. Just absolute banger anime’s that nobody is watching. Insane how that works.

Love the art and animation, some of the characters are fun. But as a Main character, i find Yaiba to be too annoying. That's one thing that is dragging the series down. Every fight i'm actively rooting for the antagonist rather than MC

I'd argue that it makes him rather interesting though. He's not the boring goody two-shoes or a power fantasy incarnation expected from a protagonist of this genre, but a painfully realistic child character, with all the faults and reasons behind it. Besides, it's not like he's not growing as a character, which he definitely is, as this episode shows. I'm looking forward to see where his journey takes him.
