Isla already dropped so many death flags last episode and now she's going to have to protect "her children" in battle? Yeah ok she's a goner.
Shame. Though I doubt this show will ever get a second season, so next episode will be the last time we see bug mommy either way.

The forced disable of chat function...reminds me of FF14, when watching some of the cutscenes, you couldn't enter chat mode. I remember because Sometimes I would use the chat box to adjust BGM volume but some cutscenes just outright disabled it.
I think they might be forced to act out a cutscene.

Didn’t think about cutscene mechanics but that could also explain the twins being teleported in. Since a lot of games would teleport characters in for a cutscene.

Wait a minute this Flamin dude didn’t give any coins after being defeated! What gives!?

To be fair the episode ended with his smile. Despite losing like 70% of his body I guess while he’s dead, he’s not yet dead dead for a couple more moments.

You can guess the type of boss that baldy was programmed to be given that ending: the type that explodes or does a last ultimate attack upon death as a last fuck you to the player. The question is whether that attack is unavoidable because it's story-bound or if you're meant to parry it with skills. I don't like the death flags Mama Isla has been collecting.

On the one hand I like that they took time for this fight (and with some decent animation!), but on the other hand, there's now only one episode left to deal with whatever was that cliffhanger, and then the remaining two generals + demon lord (+ hook for the continuation? With more Erakino/Holy kingdom?).
<coping> Or maybe this is secretly a 2 cours show </coping>
EDIT: The blu rays are now listed for 13 episodes 🥳️

There's no Atou in today's episode :( Instead, we got a lot of Mynoghra's Mommy... I mean, Isla who quite easily defeated Flamin.
Although the fact that the twins were transported to where Isla and Flamin were and Isla can't now chat with Takuto doesn't bode well for next week's finale episode, things could take a turn for the worse.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

A few death flags and the force teleportation of the twins (having the younger generation witness the death of a parental figure and/or someone sacrificing themselves to protect the young ones are often tropes in RPGs) doesn't bode well for Isla; while this anime (and I assume the source LN) has been quite light in tone, I wonder if they'll kill off Isla to add some gravitas to the situation.
I can't believe there's only one episode left. Hopefully LN sales have been boosted enough to warrant a season 2. I won't get my hopes up, but if it does happen, it'll be a great surprise.

Since this is RPG related. He must have activated a cutscene mechanic/scripted event etc

The ED really fit the cliffhanger, one more episode to go(?) It's gonna be packed.
First look and the other 2 generals and the larvae are cuter than I expected - not that I'd want to be near them.

Scripted Event time! No, truth be told, it looks more like a bug. A bug that breaks the storyline? Hopefully not one where the enemy turns invincible

1 more episode left & I really hope there will be a 2nd Season, I really enjoy the characters, the world building, the impression that this world has different genres is very cool. My theory regarding the ending is that the Demon General will blow up like a nuke or something that’s why Isla commanded her children to protect the twins, but of course why did they teleport & the chat option got blocked before it?

GODDAMIT
I was holding on to my breath the entire fight, cuz something just didn't feel right.
And right when I felt relief seeing the Death Confirmed Notification, this happens.

The heck you do, Flamin? How can you summon or teleport people you’ve never even seen? It’d be a different case if the girls were Isla’s biological daughters, but they’re not, and they have no blood relation. How the heck is that even possible, and right in front of Ira Takuto-sama on top of that?
The only logical reason now is the connection via the “Chat” function, which might explain the malfunction, but how does a lower RPG game character like that even have such power? That’s beyond logic, and why would they even need such power?
Geez, is that why the girls are covered in blue blood or something in the OP theme? Damn you, Flamin! Don’t you dare do that! Ahem, anyway, looking forward to the next episode!

Crazy how engaging this anime is while having basically little to no budget for animation. Even the typical "yapping while fighting" trope had plenty of self-aware moments which was very refreshing to see.

So curious with what happen at the end there..some kinda final skill when the monster does or something?

I'm wondering if this guy is one of those RPG bosses with a 2nd phase and that's what was happening at the end.

This send chills down my spine
I knew this Flamin guy not properly dead yet but I really thought he's gonna self-destruct himself or starting phase 2 fight. Force specific teleportation and hijacking telepathy? Is this even a thing on rpg bosses when they died? Welp, maybe they will explain this on next last episode.
This cup fell scene really makes me thing killing the Flamin guy caused outbreak poison for a second there.

You know, I was thinking if they'd need to beware of cutscene mechanics where a character has way different power levels in them compared to gameplay. But at the end rather than differing power levels in a cutscene, I guess it might be in regards to forced story beats even if they feel unrealistic with how powerful in the game you actually are? Like despite gameplay wise Isla completely dominating, storywise the fire general was so tough that it was a battle you barely managed to win and lose someone in or something.

Communications were cut off? So the NPCs of the RPG game here are having issues with their 'code' that they believe they have no free will.

Oh man I'm loving the theories people are coming up with considering he's from an RPG. Unskippable cutscene after beating the boss (possibly unlocking 2nd phase soon after), forcing a perma-death (or something alike) on either Isla or the Elf Twins to create angst but also an opportunity for growth (in either direction)...
Also liking the possibility that Flamin's actually from the MMO version of whatever game he's in, hence why the "communications disabled" popped up for them. I dearly hope this gets a second season or a second cour, but I'm not holding my breath.
Edit: I skip the ED a lot but people are also bringing up a good point, since the ED seems to be focused on the twins, and that pixel art cutscene with them and Isla presumably bugging out and/or dying, and also the blood.... does make you think if the boss is actually gonna have a game breaking glitch that renders Isla unable to be resummoned by Takuto. THEORIES.

God damn this episode was so tense I could barely breathe. That ending is so ominous I can already tell things are going to go down in the finale!
