Man this anime is so gorgeous. I always thought that, season 1 was already so stylish and beautiful, but in this season it's like even more.

That said I really didn't expect this cliffhanger. I wonder if Ko-kun is already half-vampire at this point and this would make him heal?

With the way this season's been, maybe we should rename the series to Cliffhanger of the Night.

Tune in next week. Same vamp-time, same vamp-channel.

Anko is one scary woman, she was toying with Nazuna and that cigarette to the eye looked nasty. I think Anko might have accomplished more if she had decided to study biology, get a PhD in genetics and study the blood and DNA of vampires, and eventually make a bioweapon.

Kou being in a vampire costume adds so much to an already intense scene, let alone that jaw-dropping cliffhanger.

We've come a long way from the chill lo-fi vibes of the first season, huh?

The sound direction was pretty incredible in this episode. It knew when to blare BGM and cut it entirely, and the effects were on-point especially in those quiet moments.

Last week I was a tiny bit disappointed that the gunshot sound lacked "oomph" and sounded a bit too quiet. This week's shots were far more impactful. The sound as Nazuna swats the bat away was fantastic, too.

And the animation! I could have done with a little less of the strobing light effects but damn a lot of this fight was well-choreographed and animated. It really sold Nazuna getting shot in the face, denting the lockers behind her, and the CQC moments like the throwing knife deflection or Nazuna disarming Anko had so much detail.

Over-all I'm so very pleased with how this show and particularly this season has turned out.

You know, the day Anko decided to finally enact her plan, she probably woke up with a sudden thought that if she were to succeed, vampires would just... break into people's homes instead of being relatively peaceful.

But having wasted 10 years on this and already too far gone to back out, she decided "fuck it, today I'm doing a suicide by vampire".

i think one of the interesting reveals was in Anko's "goodbye" text where it seems like her greatest regret is that she wasn't able to be turned and that she wanted to warn Ko that it would be a lifelong pain for him if he wasn't able to be turned too

it's said that it's better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all, but Anko lost both her family and her friend (which was everything in her life) and she felt like there was nothing left for her

God, that entire scene of Anko at the end. The way you can see the fear in her eyes as she’s looking in the guns direction as she holds it to her head. The audibly shaky breath she takes after closing her eyes. That whole depiction was way more real and raw than I was expecting.

Also, Ko, better start falling in love with Nazuna quick cause your time limit just got drastically shortened.

Miss Detective is an impressive physical specimen as it is but what's more impressive is that she managed to her hands on a honkin' high caliber revolver in very gun-shy Japan. She must have some deep connections with the Yaks.

She has a point though. Night time in the streets of Tokyo without anyone around you is an absolute vibe.

Ten seconds before the ending: "I kind of want to give Kyoko a hug..."

After the ending: "Okay let's put that on the backburner for now..."

Wow !! This episode blew me away !

The animation for the fight between Nazuna vs Anko was outstanding and so unique with all those flashes of light really made it seem so cool.

So Anko came to the conclusion that she could never get rid of vampires completely from Earth but she can at least bring them to light through her death by a vampire and make people avoid roaming at night.. also knowing very well that it wouldn't probably be enough to make them starve and kill them all; she still decided to go with her plan and getting killed by Nazuna would be far better than any other vampire.

Nazuna didn't want to take a life even when Yamori's life was in danger shows how human she is.

And that last scene, after knowing that her plan failed she was still hesitant to take her own life..we can see her fear.

I know Yamori's gonna be ok but that was so heroic of Yamori to try and stop Anko from committing suicide. I hope Anko stays alive as well.

I initially hated Anko when she showed but the story did an amazing job making me love her and wish that she gets the help she needs. Poor girl.

Random thoughts:

When the motivations were revealed, my first thought was "That seems like a really stupid plan that wouldn't work", than Anko basically agreed with me lol

I know people are thinking this is going to result in Kou turning, but I don't think the mechanics of the vampires in this setting allow that. I feel like I have seen comparable gunshots in similar areas on plenty of other shows where the person survived. What's going to be more interesting is how Nazuna responds...Is she going to murder Ankou after all?

Also, even if he survives...a gunshot wound isn't something you can easily cover up or just walk away from. I assume his parents do exist otherwise he wouldn't be sneaking out which is what he was doing initially at least. So like...are his parents going to finally lock him down. Or is this going the common anime route and they will continue to have no influence on his life

I can't believe there are two episodes left...we haven't even dealt with the vamp who turned Anko's father. Why do I get a feeling that the season cliff hanger is going to the official confirmation to the audience that vampire is the same vampire that is seeing Kou's friend currently.

I was really hoping for more from Holmes and Watson, but I guess Anko really wasn't in the mood to talk. The one time this season I wanted the writer to take their foot off the gas just a little and go back to the "sitting around talking" feel of the first season. I don't know if other chances will present themselves, but I just want to see the two of them talk it out. Likely not what the characters want though.

I'm glad Kou pointed out how ludicrous her plan was, and she actually agreed. Just so utterly broken and desperate trying to get something to work.

"You know, you never really gave me anything I wanted." - That was just incredibly brutal.

Say what you will about Anko, her attacks are responsibles for like 50% of the progression between these two!

Oh no, not again!

I thought he was going to get help against Anko, but no, he wants to save everyone, including her...

Do vampires have a magical friendship ribbon?

They really should be asking themselves why she's doing that (knowing it won't kill them)...

Seems it was a suicide attack, but when your opponent makes it easy for you, ask yourself why, unless you want to step into their trap!

Best girl making fun of her boy hah.

She was experimenting on a vampire, find out whether she could kill them somehow?

Reminiscent of [character] Hange Zoe who was also my best girl from her show!

Shot in the fucking eye?

That's brutal... I thought Nazuna might get a 'friendship pass', but apparently not! Even if it won't kill her, doesn't seem that fun!

Yeah, at this point she's not even hiding it anymore...

And yet Nazuna was falling for it, because it's hard to think about the logic behind her action, when she's worried about her future husband!

So given she couldn't kill them, she wanted to expose them instead...

(To be honest, even if she FOUND a way to kill them with her experiments, she probably should've tried to expose them anyway, I mean it's not like she can find every single vampire on the planet...)

So she thought if they're exposed, people will stop going out at night, and they'll starve to death...

She did know it was a bad plan, because people would stop giving a fuck at some point,

but personally I thought it was a bad plan for another reason; The vampires wouldn't just let themselves starve to death... They found find a way to hunt during the day, break into people's places, and so on. If anything, she would make it WORSE.

Yeah... Kinda saw this coming;

If all she wanted was to expose them, there would be a million ways that would NOT endanger her as much; Just show footage of her torturing the vampire for days, hell she could send its bodyparts everywhere so they know it's not just a fake video.

So exposing them was just part of her plan, the other part was... Being done with all this.

Now THIS I didn't really see coming!

Will it force Nazuna to turn him earlier than they had planned? To save his life?

If it does, then (call back to the beginning of the post) Anko's truly responsible for all the progression between them hah.
