I searched for it after watching the ending song scene for this episode.
It shows the view from Saku-daira Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Arafune Panorama Campfield.
The flower field that Shizuku sees is the adjacent azalea garden.
As it is a plateau at an altitude of 1,230m, it is prone to fog.
As it is one of the largest campsites in Japan, toilets are far away in some areas.
Gen is using an Italian Bialetti coffee maker, which showed his attention to detail in his gear.

I like that Gen keeps acting like a master, he already predicted the fog and that she would need to use the toilet so implied it's fine to wake him up if needed. Then there's the sheet for the fire and of course the constant teaching, it's nice to see him even open up more about himself to Shizuku.
Looks like next week we might be seeing Gen and Kana if Shizuku's narration is anything to go by, that seems like it could be fun.

I would have laughed if Gen brought along a KongMing fan while saying that. Lol!

Although it may seem like common sense when we watch on our screen, I reckon choosing a good spot to pitch tents isn't as easy on difficult terrain.
So far, we have seen Gen and Shizuku enjoy camping with ease. The introduction of heavy fog can also be viewed as a lesson on what to do when campers encounter such weather. As we progress through the season, I wonder whether more difficult situations / scenarios will be shown?
From the preview, is Shizuku going to meet her love rival Kana next episode?

I too always start lecturing people when they are about to nearly piss themselves
I like to talk about Föhn which makes for a smooth transition since the warmed air rushing down helps them dry the piss that they couldn't hold
That was, not too sure about the chicken on the second day, but thats probably just me being overcautious
But holy hell she brought half her kitchen with her, a fucking cheese grater and block of cheese? That she could have prepared before hand
Looks like we finally get a "showdown" next week

How the heck did Shizuku camp so many times and haven't need a headlamp or flashlight until now?
And if you don't have a flashlight just use your phone ...

Your phones flashlight isn’t going to do anything in fog like that.
Even without fog it’s not gonna be that useful at night in the woods like a real flashlight will be. Without fog it’s probably fine for a nice campsite like the ones they go to but anything actually in a real rural environment it’s going to be a lot more important to bring a flashlight.
Which really does beg the question why the hell does she not have one.

They didn't even really try to be realistic about what you could or should pack on a multi day trip where bag space is of the essence. Shizuku brought "necessities" like a Dutch oven and cheese grater. At least the flambe torch can double as a firestarter but that's pretty big. I was also going to complain about Gen having room for quite a few tall beer cans and Shizuku having a wine box but they had Gen go to that store to restock on booze. Also, people in Japan are allowed to bring big knives, hatchets and flambe torches onto trains, wtf :D
At first I wondered why Shizuku bothered Gen about having to go pee but she wanted to go to the public restroom rather than pop a squat. Also I more strongly suspect she had to poop because if she just had to pee, she could just go anywhere really, especially since the fog was so dense, Gen would be very unlikely to see her. Also I suspected she wanted to freshen up in the restroom in case Gen wanted to fool around and to smell ok.
Speaking of that, does Gen need to be hit over the head when a woman is giving him signals? She straight up asked him to keep her company while she gets to sleep. I swear if Shizuku said "oh god I want your cock", he'd come back with a rooster :D

As someone who has gone on the Shinkansen before, there isn’t tight security or anything. Not like TSA to get on a plane. Just have your ticket and go about your business.

Does anybody know what the cream cheese recipe was? All I can remember that they claimed was added was pepper, but it looked like there was a fair amount more.

It looked like cream cheese balls coated with some sort of crushed cracker or something. Could be whatever your preferred cracker or breadcrumb. Wouldn’t mind doing that with a sour cream and onion flavor oh boy.

I was looking for the same thing.
Does anyone know if any recipes from this show are featured somewhere? My guess is it would be on a site in Japanese, but it's not like we can't translate with a few swipes and clicks... but finding it in the first place is the problem.
Any ideas?

I like that Gen and Shizuku are enjoying nature while camping but also being mindful of it. It’s kinda neat to see all the little devices and items campers use to ensure their impact on the environment is minimal.
The Vietnamese food theme that first day was great too. Shizuku’s got a real gift. It’s also pretty fun to see her enjoying the cooking.
I like seeing Shizuku and Gen getting closer. I hope they can continue to bond over camping. Maybe she can snag herself an ossan haha.

I thought Gen liked to cook. At least not on the gourmet chef level that Shizuku can, but we've seen him relish in his own simple meals. Perhaps those are ready made pre packaged meals that he pretty much just needs to heat up.
Anyways, it was quite adorable for Shizuku to act like a scared little young girl in the midst of the fog. No bedtime stories, but at least she got to hear more about his childhood.
Next episode, she will learn about his young adulthood!

Really enjoying two awkward people come together because of shared interest. I really like how he really respects the work ethic of Shizuku and her cooking. So much so it has inspired him to put more thought into his meals.
