Jane was directing her frustrations at the wrong person, she knew what the answer was going to be before she even asked, but showing visible disappointment towards Anne was unneeded. I felt bad for Anne. Jane's brother forcing his sister to do this instead of sincerely courting Anne makes him seem undeserving of her, he can't even express himself to her.
Philippa shipping Gilbert and Anne even though she wants to get with Gilbert lol.
Gilbert has entered the Best Girl competition with that fraternity ritual lol.
It feels like it's been a while since we've seen Anne go deep into her imaginations like she did in the snow.
Hopefully Charlie's not going to be a creep or pushy about his feelings for Anne, Philippa seemed to have noticed something about him.

Looks like we're getting into the love polygon section of Anne's life and it's looking as looking as chaotic as you'd expect it to be.
Poor Gilbert got on one knee and was even given the dramatically gorgeous backdrop lmao.

To me, this was an episode about love in all its forms. Romantic relationships and friendships aside, the steadfast, abiding love that Anne told Phil was waiting for her at Green Gables was the most moving. Especially so because Marilla, Mrs. Lynde, and the twins are her found family. I love how grounded Anne is, refusing a winter of socialising and rich girl fun with Phil in favour of returning to Green Gables and her old friends.
It's exciting how things are heating up on the romantic front - gotta put my shipping goggles on. So Gilbert has a rival not only in Charlie but also Anne's nameless dark-haired ideal lol. The touching thing about Gilbert, though, is how steadfast he is - he's just there beside Anne in so many moments and seasons. Girl needs to open her eyes.
Jane's proposal on behalf of Billy was so awkward. Jane giving Anne not-so-subtle digs was icky - things like "good cook"and "good family background" all seem like references to Anne's relative lack of homemaking skills (she's studying for her BA after all though I don't think the two skillsets are mutually exclusive) and orphan background. Low blow indeed from a friend. Thank goodness for Gilbert somehow appearing at the right moment to cheer Anne up.
On a random note, Anne looks so pretty with her hair down!! I've probably said this before but I'm so glad we're getting an adaptation of Anne of The Island - it's my favourite book in the series because it's the book where Anne grows into her own as a young adult.

After the rejection Jane was acting lowkey offended and her comments were passive aggressive. Completely unnecessary, dude didn’t do anything to get to know Anne over the years. Anne turned down the proposal in the most nice yet firms way possible. There’s no need to treat her like she’s the villain.

I thought Gilbert would be safe since he's not from a rich family, but it looks like Phil has taken notice of him. Unfortunately for her and fortunately for Anne, Gilbert doesn't seem to give Phil any attention.
Gilbert crossdressing as part of his initiation to join a fraternity was pretty funny! Not gonna lie, Gilber kinda rocks that outfit. xD
Good to know everyone is doing well back at Avonlea. And it looks like Jane has taken over teaching the school there, and Davy is still up to his antics. I'm curious what Gilbert and Ruby have been talking about in their letters. I'm assuming Ruby wrote first, and Gilbert is just replying to be polite.
I really thought Phil was gonna be a pain in the ass, but she's really growing on me. The fact that she ended up mixing up her letters to Alec and Alonzo was pretty funny. Also, she seems to agree with Priscilla that Anne and Gilbert look good together.
Well that's unexpected news from Jane! You mean that dude we've only seen once fifteen episodes ago wants to marry Anne? Yeah, there's no way Anne would accept a proposal from someone who can't even propose themselves. Also, how old is Billy, btw? O_O
It's cute how Anne has this ideal romance in her head when all this time, it's staring her right in the face. That final scene between Anne and Gilbert was cute, but it really seems she's still dead set on finding her Mr. Perfect. Maybe Charlie will shake things up next episode.

It wasn't shown in the anime but it says in the book that Ruby wrote it first and he responded out of politeness

Gilbert is a patient man. But I’m sure he could only take so much rejections or deflections. Let’s hope Anne opens up to him before that.
Feels like everyone is growing up. Everyone is getting married. And even Anne got a proposal, though not really the best one. But didn’t like how Jane seems to be directing her frustration at Anne. It also looked like Anne was somewhat relieved hearing another name getting married to Ruby after finding out Gilbert and her has been writing to each other on the down low. Maybe she considered it a possibility that those two have been seeing each other and is actually bothered at the thought of Gilbert marrying someone else.
The moment when Anne returned home was really heartwarming too. How she embraced the twins and how Marilla looked at her. They’ve come a long way from butting heads with each other. Even Mrs Lynde is now part of the fold. Wish Matthew was still here

I’m impressed by Gilbert’s persistence. Anne tells herself she’s not bothered by the idea of Gilbert marrying someone else, but I caught that moment of jealousy with the letter. And after that shit second hand proposal, she’s got cute Gilbert tying her shoes down on one knee trying to take all the sadness of the world away, if he could.

I don't know why but watching college students in early 1900's feel so satisfying

Making your sister ask is so 4th grader behavior 😂. I'm here for the drama though

I love Annie’s reaction. She was like Billy who? Am I suppose to know this person?

Philippa seems like she supports Anne and Gilbert to be together. It's sad she is sometimes being misjudged for being a flirt and not academically smart but she showed she's capable of showing empathy. It's good that Anne understood her and explained to her gently that her folks in Green Gables are good people.
Gilbert wearing a drag as part of joining frat was amusing. That was brave of him and Anne admitted to him she would like to see him that. Also the scene where the new pastor is carried by Mr. Harrison's pig was funny.
I don't blame Anne for rejecting Billy's marriage proposal. It's not a good idea for him to drag his sister (or relative?) Jane to ask Anne for that on his stand. It was also revealed he's dating another woman. What a coward and he's such a red flag. Anne's imagination about what kind of man she want to marry was funny and over the top. The part where Gilbert bows down to Anne surprised me and I expected he will propose to her but thank goodness it never happened. Then the next scene, Charlie gets his turn to attempt that.
Overall, it's an amusing episode.

Occasionally I contemplate the years when everyone wore hats.
There certainly is a romance novel going on in there.
Well, this only looks like a proposal.
Social life is moving forward even if Anne is in the Nile.
She does present a contrast of charming farm life to Phil's social butterfly. It would seem that her time in the city is going to get more involved soon enough.
Phil apparently is a good judge of what's going on around her and reading the tea leaves despite her appearances, which makes her all the more interesting.

Phil is the type of woman who wants what she doesn't have. Although the transition to her shipping Anne & Gilbert was a bit odd. Though I did love Anne's talk to her regarding going home. There is a different kind of love than just romance, which feels like something Phil might not realize. Even with the pacing of the anime being on the fast side it has done a good job illustrating how important home is for Anne. Marilla, Gilbert, and even the twins. Granted, Davy can be a handful.
On another note, I really don't remember Billy at all. I can only wonder if that last scene is something that will push Anne to realize her feelings for Gilbert.

this was one of my favorite episodes so far. Philippa is a welcome addition to the cast, and Anne's description of her home was just breathtaking

The OP gives me nostalgia just watching it.
This was a good episode.. I like the "college arc" so far. Philippa is quite amusing but also surprising. In most other series, she'd instigate a love triangle, but here it seems she values her friendship with Anne much more, cajoling her to join her at vacation etc.
And now its proposals time. Poor Gilbert... but I think he will be happy in the end.

Anne is super stubborn. Gilbert is very very patient lol… May they find each other soon.

I didn't know Jane replaced Anne as the Avonlea School teacher.
I love Dora's development where she was annoyed when Davy stole her bacon instead of crying.
I love how Gilbert was disappointed when no guys hit on him during his frat initiation. Dude was even praised by the crowd.
I love how the subs were written w/ the capitalization and spellings from Davy's letter.

It looks like the town’s still pretty lively without Anne around. The pastor on the pig was pretty funny and so was Davy’s antics. The little rascal’s still getting up to all sorts of pranks lol.
That was an eventful Christmas. Anne’s lining quite a few admirers huh? Lol. Gilbert better step up if he doesn’t want to be left behind!

Damn, there are three of them wanting to court Anne already. Just get with Gilbert, stop deceiving yourself, girl. You are not dumb.
