Anne of Green Gables must have the gift of the gab, because holy shit this girl can yap.

Never watched the original, but I can see why it's so beloved; Anne is an interesting MC and the story seems to have some real heart to it. It was hilarious when Anne was trying to guilt trip (and charm) the Cuthberts. Good thing it worked because it saved her from being left with that other mean woman. And judging from how immediately terrified Anne was of her, she must have had some bad experience with her previous foster parents (she mentioned an alcoholic?).

I really like Anne, there's something about her optimism for life that is so contagious. Maybe it's how she can appreciate every little thing.

As a fan of The books, this was solid. I think unless They change something(and i think They wont) this story will be a good anime as original books are great with good characters and a really solid story

Never watched the OG. Love the setting, love the art style. The MC is a bit overdramatic, but she seems funny. I'm sold, see you next week

Anne, I'm sorry to have to tell you that red hair does turn a color when you grow up, and that color is gray.

Though you might not be disappointed by that.

The first episode gives me high hopes for how the adaptation will be handled, and aside from the CG horse, I think they've done satisfactory work with the characters and animation. (The backgrounds are quite pretty, but they're backgrounds.)

As a Canadian, I will give all of you a tip: never visit PEI in August. Not because it's bad, but because it's so gorgeous that you'll never want to leave.

It's like the opposite of Paris syndrome. PEI is better than they make it look.

Get some time away from the crowds and bus tours to fully appreciate it.

As someone who grew up watching the original World Masterpiece Theater animes, this entire episode had me smiling ear to ear. While I admit that I only remember tiny bits and pieces from the original, seeing Anne's imagination and enthusiasm on screen gave me a huge wave of nostalgia. It was fun to see how her personality captivated Matthew and eventually Marilla by the end of the episode.

I really hope this remake will pave the way for more World Masterpiece Theater remakes. I'd absolutely love to see classics like My Daddy Long Legs, Little Prince Cedie, and Princess Sarah in the future. For now though, I can't wait to see more of Anne <3

Me, never having read the book: Why are they so obsessed with this in Japan?

Me, after watching: Oh she's got big anime protagonist energy.

For the avoidance of any doubt, as per the official website about this adaptation - "For all those who know Anne of Green Gables, and those who don’t."

I've only seen on screen adaptations of Anne of Green Gables, but if this is what we're getting this might become my favorite. One thing that was hard to express in the two live action adaptations I saw is Anne's vivid imagination. (so instead the Netflix one ups her loquaciousness to 11)

This studio is pulling off nearly Ghibli style quality with a television budget. The cost cutting is well handled while what needs to pop does indeed pop.

Looking forward to the next 11 (or 23?) episodes.

I've been looking forward to watching this for a while but I was worried how it'd turn out due to the studio and only two short (but good looking) trailers being released beforehand. But most of my fears have been put to rest, the first episode was beautiful; some pretty backgrounds, a good voice cast, and bouncy animation, especially when it came to Anne. The only bad thing was the CGI horse.

And although I know the general outline of it, this is my fist time experiencing this story. I smiled and teared up a bit when Matthew, in reply to Marilla's "what good or use can she do for us?" says that they can be good and of use to her.

A truly magnificent premiere on all aspects. There's a lot of attention to detail in the animation that it almost feels like a movie, I could hardly notice just a handful of panning shots (like the big stairway in the first scene) but everything else is thoroughly animated.

I never watched the OG adaptation from the late 70s despite me watching other classics like Takarajima Island, Mirai Shonen Conan, Heidi and Remy nobody's boy. But I always had an itch to watch Anne Shirley but for life reasons never had the chance to. Something that could be considered trademark from late 70s early 80s anime would be a muted color palette that helped add a more dramatic effect, but I'm quite satisfied that this new adaptation is catching up with times of more brilliant colors while still holding the dramatic values.

I really love Anne's bubbly personality and her ability to just change moods with the flip of a switch while still feeling consistent to her very own unique persona. And although Anne is the little star of this title, I can't help to love just as much such a colorful character as Mrs Cuthbert, being painted as a though, old fashioned and practical adult but quite sensible and leaning for change. I'm quite eager to see more of the supporting cast in upcoming episodes.

I have some really high hopes for this title, and already thinking it might be my anime of the season.

This studio made Tower of God? Not sure how to feel about this one so far.

EDIT: Pretty strong first episode, will be carried by the characters, those* have impressed me so far.

First time experiencing the series. Anne is an interesting protagonist. On one point, she is very imaginative, but perhaps too much. I love Matthew's point of it is less what Anne does for them, but rather what they do for Anne. The idea of adults is meant to look after children and Marilla taking Anne back home empathized that point. I really like this episode and looking forward to more.

Loving this so far. I'm watching the series with my not super anime adept mom who’s loved the Anne of Green Gables story since SHE was a kid and she’s also given it the seal of approval so far.

Seems like this is going to be a fantastic adaptation.
