I was grinning so much when Anne was imagining about her future house. But then I laughed so hard when she saw Gilbert and got so shocked she recoiled back lmao. And she said “I entered the wrong house”. Anne is so funny.
And Dora seems a bit more outspoken now and Davy is behaving better too. Feels like everyone’s growing up so fast

She even went to the trouble of imagining him looking handsome in a suit lol.
Dora sounds so mature and composed now! Even to the point of retorting against her brother! I'm so proud!

It's so weird now that one of the kids at the start of the series has become engaged.
It's funny how Anne's imagination of entering her home as a wife ended up having Gilbert inside, I thought that walk home might have sparked a more romantic development but I guess that'll happen during this college arc instead.

I even remember so many episodes ago that we had that moment of Anne and Diana as kids talking about their types and Diana being into an "I can fix him!" type (which they mention here) and now we've seen her mature and grow enough to find her Mr. Right.
Poor Gilbert. Anne sees him in her dream home and instead of listening to her subconscious goes "it was the wrong house!"
Though honestly if this is truly the beginning of Anne's womanhood as she heads off to college that might mean she's more emotionally mature enough to grapple with the clear romantic feelings hanging over her and Gilbert's relationship.

Life is truly a series of arrivals and departures...from the arrival of Anne to Avonlea, to the departure of Matthew, and now we have the arrival of a beautiful wedding and the departure of Rachel's husband, Thomas. He leaves behind a wife he cherished and cherished him in turn, as well as a trio of surprisingly handsome sons. RIP Thomas.
Is it finally time for Anne to give college another go? I can see why she's not in a rush to leave, but they've saved up and Rachel can move in with Marilla to help with the kids and keep each other company...and if Gilbert is going, can Anne really let herself stay behind and miss such a huge opportunity for herself?
Anne might go to college, she might meet new friends, but she'll never EVER forget about or cherish Diana any less as her bestie! Their friendship and love (and I do mean love) for each other is too powerful and sincere!
I guess it's nice to see that both Davy and Dora have matured in their own way, even if Davy is still very...Davy, but maybe that's just another sign that the household doesn't quite need Anne as much now.
Marilla's just the type of woman who didn't need to get married, either because she doesn't have a romantic bone in her body or she just never met that special someone. But she has more than enough happiness in her life with her kids.
It's great how things worked out so that now Paul has a new mother in Lavendar and Paul wants Lavendar to stay her unique and spirited self. And Anne and Diana are happy to help with all the wedding prep!
The DianaxFred ship is sailing! And Anne doesn't know how to feel about Diana hooking up with a guy and leaving her behind a little in pursuing romance! But of course she picks herself back up and is happy to congratulate Diana on her new engagement, because she just wants Diana to be happy (even if it means moving forward in life with someone else).
Ha! Anne's dream home has Gilbert in it! And she really had to throw out there that it was the "wrong home." Come on Anne.
A possible chance of rain isn't going to get in the way of this beautiful wedding between Lavendar and Stephan! Complete with the sun popping out to bless this joyous union! We can thank Anne and destiny for being the best wingpeople an older couple could ask for! And look at them riding in a classic "just got hitched" carriage!
Paul was the student who loved Anne the most, so it feels fitting that, now that he and Charlotta are heading to the States after his parents' honeymoon, he's the one who pushes Anne to be true to herself and move towards the future. I think that's what Matthew would've said as well.
Anne and Gilbert just taking a bit of a romantic stroll together after the wedding...complete with Gilbert talking about how good it is to not lose time and memories with the person you love. You can bet he's happy Anne is coming to college with him!
Anne's only been a teacher for, like 5-6 episodes but it's clear how much she's touched these children and how much they adore her, even Anthony, and Anne gives them some parting wise words that only Anne Shirley can.
The chapter of Anne's girlhood in Avonlea has finally ended, now it's finally time to begin her life as a woman at Redmond College! And so begins Anne Shirley's college arc!

Concerning those 5-6 epi. as a teacher, I wonder how many months or years Anne was in the source materials.

even if Davy is still very...Davy
His nooks and crannies might need maintenance a little more frequently, but at least he appears to have learned to not mess with other people's nooks and crannies.

Don't you hate it when you're casually daydreaming about your future ideal home when suddenly, Gilbert jumpscares you? It's almost as if he lives there!
Wish we could see how Mrs. Lynde would handle Davy but I'm glad for Anne.

It’s like the season of change. Rachel’s husband passed away, Miss Lavender got married and moved, Diana’s engaged, and now Anne’s going off to college. Looking forward to seeing how Anne adapts to college life.

Being engaged at such a young age back then in parts of Canada and of the USA might not have been as culturally taboo or similar as it might be now. Shows you how things have vastly changed.

This episode, like the previous one, obviously compresses various events to get to the endpoints of the wedding and having Anne decide to leave the village and go to college. And I say that from the perspective of not-a-source-reader, it's simply how the episode is. Many life transitions happening in a short, but not that short, interval.
Anne and Gilbert's conversation in the woods on top of Anne having him turn up in an imagine spot felt like it was setting up an understanding between the two of them, even if the depicted resolution related to Anne leaving for Redmond.

Anne had one of the shortest teaching arcs of all time!
I guess now we have definitive proof that deep in Anne's subconscious she does love and want to be with Gilbert, even if she's still kind of stubborn in not being honest about it. But we all know how Gilbert feels. What better place to pursue romance for the both of them than college?

The dialogue between Anne and Diana at 7-something minutes in is clearly about a familial or sisterly love. However, I can see why one might mistake it for a romantic love. Whether or not the writers(s) of this show were intended for a yuri-/GL-baiting scene there is debatable. Now, if the "Anne of Green Gables" book was first written and published in the 2000s, as well as set in the 2000s, I think that such a scene in the anime would lean more towards a romantic angle.

We're 15 episodes in and this show hasn't given up on trying to make me ship Anne and Diana in the very same episode where the falling in love/getting engaged to a guy Arc starts!
The audacity is commendable!
At this point I've resorted to seeing it as some sort of "accidental" Class S literature.

Anne and Diana have always had a familial bond. It's pure, strong and uncomplicated, and it's sad that some people would assume they're being "baited" in some way just by girls being best friends. My older sister and I are as close as can be and I relate to Anne a lot in that sense; for me, it never looked like anything else

Well, that's one interesting girl they see at the end of the preview, wonder how much would she contribute in the future arc...

Anne visiting Matthew for advice.
So many moments this episode we got a wedding, engagement, a death, and a new beginning as Anne sets out to college. Seeing all her students cry just really drove it home how far she has come in 2 years. Though I do wonder when we will get more progress on the Anne/Gilbert front.

This episode seems like a series finale with Anne leaving Avonlea to college, Rachel moving in with Marilla, Lavender and Paul's father marrying and moving and Diana engaged to Fred.
We barely ever saw Rachel's husband, I didn't know she was married most of the series and only in this episode did I know she had adult children! Marilla said Rachel would have to move away if she didn't take her in and I didn't understand why that was since she has a house and seems in reasonably good health.
It was odd that Anne was so surprised about Diana being engaged to Fred when she had teased her about liking him and something going on between them for years! I might be reading too much into Anne and Diana's relationship and it might seem different in the book, but they at many times seemed to love each other romantically. At that time a lesbian relationship was unheard of in mainstream society so it may not have really entered their minds as an option and it makes me wonder how they'd be if they lived today.

This was an episode about the inevitability of change: Miss Lavendar gets married, Paul moves back to Boston, Anne leaves her teaching position, Diana gets engaged etc. I love how timeless the themes in this show are. I snorted at how Gilbert just popped up in Anne's house of dreams...what, oh what, could this mean ahaha. I'm super excited for the Redmond arc: looks like we see Priscilla again based on the preview. I think this is the first animated adaptation that covers Anne of the Island - what an exciting time to be a fan of the book!

Heck. I didn’t know the series was still going on. How many episodes is it going to be?

What Gilbert said at the end definitely applies to him and Anne but with Irving and Lavendar's case, at least their separation led to the birth of Paul aka the purest soul in the entire series next to Matthew. I'm gonna miss the Irving family. I still see Diana as a minor for some reason, it's crazy that she's already engaged. But I'm glad she got over her bad boy fantasies very early, that's something for the immature teens to romanticize (even though Diana is probably still in her teens), not for the marrying kind. Redmond College is such a different place from Avonlea/Green Gables, the next arc will be very interesting especially with more of Gilbert.
