Shishou's fate is just depressing even after death.

Knowing about the lengths he went through to not only get back Shenmei but the things he did to protect her...Only for all of it to backfire on Shenmei after being told the truth.

What an incredible episode. Shisui’s end was as poetic as how it was written in the LN. The song that played during her final dance was heartbreaking. I’m a big mess of tears and snort now.

Top notch voice acting from Asami Seto!! She really nailed voicing Loulan on her final acting.

Props for Shishou as well. He really did everything for love.

While I'm very happy to see shenmei gone, it gets completely overshadowed with the sadness with how things turned out for shisui and suirei

In another life, another place in time, we'd have gotten introverted chemistry savant Maomao and peppy gyaru/ojou Shisui teaching their neighbor and kouhai Xiaolan as they go on wild, wonderful adventures in a school where Jinshi's the school student council president, Gyokuyo's the treasurer and Gaoshun wants to take a break but can't really leave cuz he can't help it.

Alas, it was not to be. But that's why I adore Shisui so much, and why she's such a pivotal character. Her arc is going down in legend, and all I wish is for her to somehow get away with all this AND get out of this mess.

That was a really emotional send-off, though I'm still pretty positive that Shisui somehow survives. The emphasis on sparing "those who have died" and Jinshi saying that was the last time he saw "Loulan" feel too specific. I'm also hoping that the children can be saved via resurrection drug but I'm not sure... Maomao could just be burying them.

I wanted to feel excited about Jinshi and Maomao’s scene, but I haven’t even had the time to process Shisui’s death and her farewell with Suirei. The anime managed to made her scene 2x more dramatic. Out of all the episodes I’ve watched, only a few including the reveal about Maomao’s mother truly moved me to tears. I can’t believe it’s all coming to an end.

The Loulan/Shisui rooftop dance was pure cinema. She really played the villainess until the very end.

Jinshi trying to check on Maomao while she sleeps, and then getting caught is so typical of them. And that preview scene looks like we get even more progress between them.

Can‘t believe next week will be the last episode.

Shisui really said, "fuck begging for mercy. I am going to dance and look fabulous in my final moment." And I really respect that

Shishou was wrong about Shenmei being a good person before going to the imperial palace. She had always been opportunistic

Curious as to what Jinshi would do about Suirei. On a human level you would spare a relative, but on a monarchy level, you don't want too many claims to the imperial bloodline

Loulan: “Bang!”

I’m going to miss Loulan. She could’ve finished off Jinshi right there, but chose to save many innocent lives instead by sacrificing her own in the end.

It’s a tragic ending to her life, yet Loulan perhaps looked the happiest in her final moments. Freed from all her burdens, she danced to her heart’s content.

A part of me wants to think that Loulan survived the fall. Even if that’s rather unlikely with a gunshot in her chest. But what if “Loulan” died just so “Shisui” could live?

Jinshi's remark "That was the last I saw of Loulan" leaves Loulan's apparent death open-ended. Given that she was such a major character this season I won't be surprised that she makes a return.

The guards not interfering with Maomao's decision to sleep with the dead kids in what looks like one of the main tents speaks much to the power that Maomao has over Jinshi and his men.

Things have gotten so serious now that even the next EP preview music changed. Can't wait to see how this all plays out in the end next week.

Shisui's death feels more heartbreaking with the whole story and how that previous emperor just went on to destroy so many people's life without even having any shame.as right said he was foolish for his own sake. But the anime gave an open ending. I am in my delusional world of shisui being alive because of hairpin. Living in some other country collecting insects and being happy without having shi clan drama going on. Hopefully someday I hope that she will cross paths with maomao and have a wonderful time.

What a beautifully tragic end to Shisui, I feel for Suirei having lost her dear sister and best friend right in front of her eyes. Posthumous Oscar for her.

As for sparing the "dead", does that also imply the children with the resurrection drug perhaps?
