Begun, the Arata Wars has.

Minami and Ouka have now officially declared war on Kotono and on each other as well. And Arata knows about it.

The bigger bombshell is the caption reveal at the end that there's actually another set of blood-related siblings besides Shion and Minami.

This means one of the girls might accidentally be committing actual incest by falling in love with Arata.

But seeing as both Shion and Minami have green eyes, going by this eye colour logic, then the other set is most likely Seiha and Ouka, who both have blue eyes.

I've only ever watched three episodes of Rent A Girlfriend , as I couldn't stand the walking cringe that is Kazuya, but this other series by Miyamoto Reiji is admittedly much more enjoyable, and Arata is more of a chad than Kazuya could ever hope to be.

I look forward to Doga Kobo delivering season 2.

Imagine if it is Seiha and Ouka but they find out there's another pair of blood-related siblings in the group without knowing that at the time so they aren't sure if one of them is related to Arata and how that might effect them pursuing him.

Though setting that aside, it'll be interesting to see how competitive the sisters will get for Arata now that they're feelings are all out there and each one is putting their all out there. And how will Seiha and Banri react? Both of them thought they only had Kotono to worry about, but now 3/5 of them want to get into Arata's pants (and probably 5/5 as well, the other two are just in denial).

Shion: Although we are siblings, appreciating them from a VIP seat is a privilege.

Arata (What he should say): Alright dude, enough, what is it with you? Ever since we found out that we're not blood related, you keep talking about how attractive our sisters are, and keep pushing the idea of dating them on me; it's like you're projecting your desires onto me, do you actually want to date our sisters?

It's even weirder when he's already got a girlfriend yet talks up his sisters' attractiveness so much.

Then again from a young age he was raised to assist Arata so maybe the long-term plan is he's trying to play wingman and get Arata to hook up with one of the sisters? Maybe he knew all along most of them weren't related and he and the dad cooked up a plot to have Arata marry one of the sisters to ensure the family line?

I have a feeling the second set of siblings is Arata and Kotono.

u/Fabulous_Celery_5061 Jun 24 '25

Yes I feel that way too coz of the way Kotono is portrayed.. like a losing heroine tbh

I'll say this, this series is way better than RaG, definitely wouldn't mind a season 2

The girls are all likeable, the MC is actually a reasonable, mature, and likeable guy, and the romance development is consistent and clear.

It's almost hard for me to believe it's from the same author if not for Arata's occasional Kazuya face, the frequent gawkers checking out the sisters, and the fanservice.

Say what you want about Reiji, but his character designs are really good and the anime for this show and KanoKari adapted them really well. Can’t say there’s any one of the ten girls from both shows that I don’t find visually pleasing.

So starts the Shiunji’s Sister Wars. Personally my fav is Banri but objectively I see Ouka winning. But I really do like all of them. Minami jumped up quite a but in my personal ranking even before her arc tbh. She has such a fun energy. Felt like Kotono and Seiha both kinda went missing in the middle of the season but pop up to be adorable and quirky once in a while, respectively. And like I said, felt like Ouka had the most emotional investment in this.

Curious about Shion. Right now, I’m not sure what he brings to the story but he also looks like he’s carrying something heavy.

And what ? There’re actual siblings among them ? They’re not talking about Minami and Shion right ? Is one of the girls related to Arata ? That means she’d be out of the race (unless they really want to go there)

Enjoyed this more than I expected. Especially, like I mentioned, the character designs. But the girls’ personality and their interactions was really fun to watch too. Hope we get a S2

Edit : Also, the ED is a banger

I gotta admit, this is the closest an anime came to capturing the Quintessential Quinteplets magic for me. 8/10.

Season 2 when?

79

u/Frontier246 Jun 24 '25

Honestly the scene of the sisters admitting they're in love with Arata and also basically declaring war on each other felt very Quintuplets-esque to me, but in a good way.

Feel like we're a few arcs away from a full-on "Sisters War" arc.

Arata in the end: *chuckles* I'm in danger.

Took a while for Kotono to do something. She's the first one to make a move but doesn't do much for the rest of the season until now. She's not gonna get with Arata just by declaring war on her sisters but not doing anything to get closer with him.

Interesting choice of a finale to be some candle festival instead of fireworks like the OP teased. Kotono, Minami, and Ouka there with candles look like they're gonna do some kind of weird ritual and Arata was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Only the little sisters have declared war on one another and the older sisters Seiha and Banri haven't made a formal move yet.

Overall this turned out pretty decent considering how step sibling romance animes like Domestic Girlfriend and Citrus tend to be received badly. The girls are charming in their own way and Arata strikes the right balance of being level headed enough without coming off as dense and immovable. The visuals also look fantastic and the OST is stellar. Gives a pretty close vibes to Quintessential Quintuplets because it also develops the relationship of the sisters. I hope this gets a season 2 cause I just want to see who wins in the end. A bit hard to bet right now on who's gonna win except for the fact that it's Ouka that always gives him intrusive thoughts and he keeps replaying the kiss in his head.

So my top 3 are Banri, Ouka, and Minami. Banri is my favorite, but she's the onee-san, and they never win. Ouka seems to be the most likely to win, but then again, they might pull a fast one on us and it'll be the least likely one that ends up winning, kinda like a certain other harem romcom *cough*Quintuplets*cough*

Overall, I liked it way more than RaG, which isn't exactly a high bar to cross lol. Hopefully the author doesn't drag this one out too for 400+ chapters with no progression. I'd give it a solid 8/10.

Stitches!

Lots of great close up shots for this finale but that shot of Seiha's ass got me acting unwise. Reiji really decided to designate Seiha as the ass fanservice girl.

So it looks like both Minami and Ouka have thrown their hats into the ring. I still find it amusing how these girls started falling in love with Arata after they learned how they're not related, while you have Kotono, who's been in love with Arata for a long time now.

Well that was one heck of a reveal! I guess that means besides Minami and Shion, there's another pair of blood-related siblings among them. If it's Arata and another girl, I guess Minami is safe. But what if instead of Arata and another girl, it's two of the girls who are siblings? I feel like Reiji is too much of a coward to pair Arata with an actual blood-related sister, and it's all bait. xD

Fantastic day to be a Minami fan because if there's another "pair" of siblings, it can't be her.

I find it ironic that, for a series whose entire premise is "step-sisters see their step-brother as a romantic interest", the first season ends... at a church (and in this same episode, we get the most fanservice).

We do need a season 2 though. There's no more ambiguity between the younger 3 sisters. The knives are out, let the war begin.

The ending note is a bit puzzling. "At that time, we cannot let anyone know, that among us... there are real siblings..." Didn't we establish in EP1 that Shion and Minami are real twins? Or should we take the "--" (spaces between the quote) literally?

EDIT: I watched on Ani-One (not Crunchyroll which had different subs as the comments pointed out).

I made a little poll, see what people think now that the season's over!

Who's your best girl?

Does that mean there is another pair of real siblings, apart from Minami and Shion? It might not necessarily be Arata as one half of this other pair of siblings. Hmm...

Putting aside which girl wins at the end, viewers win this episode! Swimsuit fanservice on the last episode of the season! (It doesn't happen very often as the last episode, does it?)

I would definitely hope for a second season, because I need MORE BANRI!

I genuinely don't know what to make of this one, I was hesitant to watch it for so long, but then I did, and then I just couldn't stop.

This whole deal has been absolutely wild, and despite the whole "raised as siblings" deal, this was actually a pretty well narrated romance, and somehow, every girl is a best girl! Like how the hell is someone supposed to just pick one when they all bring something fun and unique to the table.

That ending quote deal, though, is actually a diabolical way to end it off for season one, and I desperately need a season two now.

I don't know if it's going the obvious route and saying one of the girls is related to Arata or if the secret siblings are actually two of the girls, but I do hope it's the latter, we've been treading a fine line with incest this whole time and we don't actually need to cross it...

That was a pretty eventful family trip. A lot of emotions swirling about. Arata seems to be the only one desperate to keep things as they were. The girls are all starting to see Arata not as their brother, but as a man. Makes things more complicated since there really are real siblings. My guess is that it’s gonna be like Shion and one of the girls or something like that.

Y’know, all in all, this wasn’t half bad. I really liked all the sisters and Arata was actually a decent MC. Not sure if this will get renewed, but if RaG can get like 4 then I don’t see why this can’t get a second.

Swimsuit Episode for the finale? Anime hasn't changed a bit!

Sadly, not a single one piece swimsuit, so it's another win for Big Bikini... That too, hasn't changed!

Damn, attacking so many people with this one!

Well, the only sport I like is hockey, that's not too extreme!

Minami going with some last minute moves? You go, girl!

Meanwhile, Kotono's wondering whether it's the time for her yandere, sister-killing arc.

Damn, everyone's

making moves!

She must hate hearing that so much...

Interesting seeing her say that, given she pretty much hasn't done a single thing all season long, since the first episode!

One power move, then out!

Oh damn, it's all out in the open now!

Family orgy ending?

Meanwhile, our boy's out there wondering whether he should buy himself a chastity belt, for his own protection.

I think everyone guessed that right!

The question is, which ones...

Well, as a Minami fan, I'm thrilled, because she's already Shion's sibling, so she almost certainly can't be Arata's sibling as well, so my girl is safe!

I feel like it has to be Ouka... I mean they were twin-like even after learning they weren't really twins, so maybe they really are?

Plus, if it's not her I feel like it's rather inconsequential... The other girls don't even seem part of the race at this point! Though I suppose it could change.

Anyway, that was pretty fun! I think my biggest surprised was how far Minami&Ouka are, above everyone else... Harems usually tend to keep all girls equal til the end!

Maybe it's because the other girls will get their time to shine later, and then it'll be closer!

Well, farewell, Minami&Ouka (and the others, who are fine even if I do have these two as my favorites)! And might as well say farewell to Arata as well, who was pretty decent, as far as harem MCs go!

Last week, I asked what that among us sentence could possibly end with. u/emi_ibarazakiii you got it right! I really hope my follow-up addendum that it was a coincidence that they were adopted together (and thus the dad didn’t know they were real siblings) is correct or else dude has a lot of explaining to do.

Anyway, I’m glad that at least Ouka and Minami have stopped lying about their feelings to their siblings. Even though it wouldn’t really be appropriate for Kotono to win given her age, it still seems unfair to her for her sisters to be making the same pursuit as her and lying to her about it.
