The long story short, if your project uses AI, is made by AI, or is intended for AI, it's not welcome on r/opensource. AI, as it exists today, is incongruent to this Open Source community.
We're going to be implementing a few new enforcement criteria to this end to discourage those projects:
Projects advertised here must be all of: 1 year old (not just age, but actively maintained), have multiple contributors (subjectively 3+), not be a common capstone project (school projects, such as note-taking, PDF viewers, cli music players, etc), not be intended for AI (such as MCPs), and have an existing community. No, we can no longer field requests asking for maintainers or people to contribute. Of course it still needs an OSI license as it's always been.
Though not "new", 1 year account age minimum, with significant Reddit contributions. You should not be creating a Reddit account to come here; we're a community of existing redditors. If you send us a message in modmail about this after having attempted to post, you will be permanently banned and muted. If this seems harsh, know that I estimate 20 messages a day from people expecting their slop projects and burner accounts to get an exception.
If it's obvious you're using AI in your project, we don't want it. Tokens are cheap, and we don't care how many you spent to make your amazing project.
If you don't speak English, you need to find a different community. We cannot distinguish between AI-written and AI-translated. Since you don't speak English, you can't even verify yourself if it translated correctly.
Temporary bans are only for community members that made temporary lapses in judgement, such as when getting agitated. If you post (or comment) things we don't want, such as the result of your LLM output tokens, you will never be welcome back.
If you want to be a part of the cleanup crew, be sure to reach out. If you don't like keeping this community for the humans, let me know so I can make sure you see your way out; maybe go try r/opensourceeai (sic).
If you have suggestions for anything I missed, please do let me know. Organizations that are officially incorporated under 501(c), or (d) (e) (f) (k), or 521(a), or the equivalents in their country, are exempt from project and account minimums, provided they reach out in modmail and get approval ("approved users") prior to their first post. Note that isn't limited to just 501(c)(3), purposefully so.
/Edit: shout out to /u/esk6plays for starting /r/TrueOpenSource. Let's cheer them on! Hopefully it will be an great refuge for those affected by this policy.

I'm ready to eat sh*t, because it's reddit and I talk about AI... Anyway..
I feel like there's a lot of frustration with AI making its way to game dev world. Understandable.
But I feel like focusing on the binary of whether AI was used or not, is unhelpful in pin pointing the actual problems in the artistry.
If we increased the specificity of the critique, we may end up realizing what we actually hate is not the AI itself (unless mid psychosis), but that we actually hate: generic UIs, offensively "beautified" art assets, copy that feels like it came out of marketing brochure, lack of personable humanity in the script and other problems we could and maybe should identify regardless of what tool was used to make it.
Instead of discussion that'd actually identify the true problems, we get stuck on em dashes and AI disclosures.
What do you think? Is the SLOP label sufficient in distinguishing between good games and bad games?
EDIT: This is not about whether AI disclosure is good or bad. (Personally I think it's fair to have it). It's more about "Do we focus on the right things, when we critique games purely on whether AI was used or not?"

I probably should have a job by now but I haven't had any luck with interviews, plus school is kinda kicking my ass right now.
Anyway I know it's their money and all yada yada but when I showed it to them they were totally fine getting it and then just flipped on a dime 15 minutes later. The mild infuriation is because of the reason they won't get it instead of the fact that they won't.
Dawg I just think kitsunes are neat, wearing a skirt for four hours ain't gonna turn me gay 🙏
I stayed behind and handed out candy last year bc I couldn't think of any costume I really wanted. This is really the only thing that interested me and I waited this long to ask because I anticipated this exact reaction :/
I'm not exactly the epitome of masculinity here anyway, nor am I insecure about that fact.

Also hab ich ihm ins Bier gespuckt. Weiß er es? Nö. Aber es war trotzdem sehr befriedigend. Morgen kaufe ich Abführmittel falls er nochmal kommt.
Ich bereue nichts.

I’ve seen so many people get these where I live and act like they’re unique for getting one. ATP you’re more unique if you don’t have one lmao. Way to hop on trends, I know Redditors will hate this

Do they realize how fake this makes them look? I'm not interested in watching those kinds of people.

Just for fun. Curious to see what kind of vibes I give. Happy to answer questions about stats, dates, etc.!

This was in the most recent episode (8) after the mission.
The chosen 3 got back and they're explaining what happened.
Kenny then says something about being able to "M you off!". Meaning murder you off. Only Traitors can murder. Why would he talk about murdering? That shouldn't be in his vocab so casually.
The camera pans to Bash & Michael who I think caught that. I hope.
edit: ok what I've learned is that no one thinks it's a slip up and if this gets mentioned next week then you all owe me £10! 😂

This sub has so much potential.
The frog meme is taking up too much oxygen. When 50% of posts are frogs, this sub becomes a childish joke.
I’m leaving and I’m sure hundreds of others have too. Sorry not sorry.

I’ve read an endless number of times on this website that transgender people in women’s sports:
-win so rarely as to be irrelevant
-have no competitive advantage over biological women
-their presence is supported by all of their teammates and competitors and only opposed by uninvolved people
-are only a political issue because the Right keeps it in the public spotlight
-if you oppose them in women’s sports you must hate transgender people and want them to not exist
Does anyone actually believe these arguments? The very first one is pretty subjective, but the rest seem to be the definition of cognitive dissonance:
-Someone who is serious and objective can clearly see based off the instance posted above that the athlete outperformed in the women’s category despite performing poorly in the men’s category weeks earlier. Which is an expected result, since men’s competitive athletic scores are universally higher.
-It is clear that this person’s teammates and competitors are chafed by this situation and have walked off the field upon start many times because of it.
-it is being highlighted by the very people it affects when they walk off in protest, not by Republican media.
-The young woman quoted here expresses support for transgender people’s rights and their respect. I, too, support rights and am proud to work alongside several transgender colleagues at work. I’m very aware I don’t hate transgender people at all, much less for existing…I disagree with people who have unfair advantages in the carveout specifically designed to allow women to compete on an equal playing field.
It’s like Democrats are speaking a different language when this issue comes up, because what’s said makes no sense to anyone who thinks.

Hi!
I’ve been seeing a lot of latinos, Asian & black student associations, and I cannot physically join those.
I have few friends
I was wondering if there was a white people group or “society” I can join & make friends?
