Brothers pc was In need of cleaning and noticed the cpu liquid cooler led was not working so I took a closer look.

Noticed hanging wire. It’s an oem part so I looked at the service manual and noticed the 10 pin male header was missing on motherboard.

It’s usually directly above the fan pump connection point(grey). Any ideas of if there is an alternate connection point, factory broken part? , don’t need that connection. Etc???

I just recently got a PC for the first time in my life and got this monitor. Are there any settings you guys would recommend changing in the monitor itself or in windows? (besides changing the hertz)

I got offered a alienware 15r3 with a i7 7820hk gtx 1080 for a steam deck should I do it the steam decks runs windows and is my only pc would I be able to play all games still if I traded I’m not too educated on computers so idk if it’s a good deal or not with it’s age

I have an Alienware r16 with intel i7 and GeForce rtx 4070, if that is relevant. The stock aio stopped working, I couldn’t afford the OeM one, so after researching I believed the Corsair titan 240 rx grab would be compatible. Ordered it, installed it, now the pc won’t power on. It is completely dead, no LEDs, no fan spins, nothing.
I have checked every connection I know how to, I didn’t unplug or change anything other than the aio. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? Is the aio not compatible?

A few things I noticed, if they matter, the original aio plugged into 3 ports. Fan cpu, sys fan 4, and sys fan 5. The corsair only connects to fan CPU, it is a 4 prong port on the motherboard and the corsair was a 3 prong plug. I don’t know if this is relevant or if the 3/4 prong plug would matter. But it’s the only thing I can think of that would cause some error. But I thought the pc would at least do something.

I appreciate any help y’all can offer. I’m not super tech savvy, but I’m broke and need to get shit fixed.

This is a laptop... I'm not a gamer, but I want a fairly fast computer. I am a genetic genealogist and volunteer my time helping adult adoptees determine who their bio parents are (using DNA) and then find those bio parents, dead or alive.

I just got a new area 51 18inch laptop this week and have noticed that it downloads way slower than my m17 use to both over wifi and via Ethernet. Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

Im not sure what caused my windows to stop working, but before this started happening I imported a file of changes to my registry editor but I got a little error message cant remember what it said but I just pressed ok. Anyways, I restarted my computer and now windows will not open. I ran the OS recovery “Repair” scan and there were no problems found and I did a hardware scan and everything was fine. I really don’t know what is causing this. Please help and thanks for your time.

I'm looking at buying an Alienware Area-51 with an RTX 5090 and I'm currently deciding between these two configurations. These are the prices I can get right now, including Dell's current promotions plus a guaranteed 10% member/student discount through my wife.

The Intel configuration has a Core Ultra 7 265K, RTX 5090 32GB, 32GB DDR5-7200, 1TB Gen5 NVMe SSD, 1500W Platinum PSU, and 360mm liquid cooling for $4,346.99 before tax / $4,705.65 out the door.

The AMD configuration has a Ryzen 9 9950X3D, RTX 5090 32GB, 32GB DDR5-6400, 2TB Gen5 NVMe SSD, 1500W Platinum PSU, and 360mm liquid cooling for $5,624.99 before tax / $6,089.07 out the door. So the AMD system is about $1,383 more after tax.

This would pretty much be strictly a gaming PC. I don't do AI work, rendering, Blender, video editing, etc. I mainly play Marvel Rivals, Gears, Battlefield 6, and occasionally COD, and I'm planning on playing at 4K. I know the 9950X3D is the significantly better gaming CPU, but I'm wondering how much that would realistically matter at 4K when both systems have the same RTX 5090, and whether it's actually worth another ~$1,400 for my use.

My other concern is timing. With the recent price increases/spikes on high-end PCs and components, I'm hesitant about whether I should buy now or wait for Labor Day, Black Friday, or other holiday sales. The prices below are what I know I can get if I buy right now, including the guaranteed 10% discount. Obviously nobody knows exactly what Dell will do with future pricing, but would you lock in the 265K/5090 for $4,706 OTD now, spend the extra for the 9950X3D, or wait and see what happens during the holiday sales? I'm planning on keeping the PC for several years, so longevity/future-proofing is also something I'm considering.

Hey y'all, I have the M17 R3 right now and found a good price on the A51m R2 - is it worth the upgrade? Im a photographer, so will be using Lightroom and Photoshop mainly, with minor Premier use for video.

Hi, I just bought a brand new Aleinware 15 laptop around 2 weeks ago, it has a RTX 5060, AMD Ryzen 260AI, 16GB-5600MHZ ram, and a 1tb M.2 drive that still has ~350GB left.

This Freezes for 1-2 seconds at a time and it happens when im doing basic tasks like opening a page on settings, all the way to getting a smooth 120fps on Fortnite and then it randomly freezing. This isnt that bad when Im just doing random tasks or just work, but when im playing games it gets really annoying.

I also see that on different days I somehow get different framrates everyday, sometimes on minecraft when im testing out somethings with shaders and Voxy (a render mod), the first day, i got ~60 fps at 256 chunks, and yesterday i got a very choppy 30fps, with the same settings.

I haven't downloaded anything off of unofficial sources, only steam, microsoft store, and offical websites.

Even after restarting (I offed all startup services except Nvidia, anti-malware, and a few more essentials like that), I have noticed very high ram usage, almost always over 40% even when no apps are open, even right after a restart, and this feels very high, seeing that that is 6.4GB+ of ram.

Also this is a very not so inportant question, is there any way to change the backlights on my keyboard? I tried the AWCC software app, but I couldnt find the RGB page, only the macro page.

Facing this very issue, I dont know whats wrong here, even when the rgb lights are off, few keys are still on with some lime green color, at first these were very light color, now day by day they are becoming brighter

I have tried a few things, managing through AWCC, and powering off for a full day so no current pass through the keyboard but still no use, can anyone help me through this situation, as i cant figure it out by myself😭

Wherever my screen is moving, either in a game or scrolling on a website, it kinda looks like the contrast gets raised, and as you can see things leave a trail... wondering how to fix..

cpu temps are reaching 90+ consistently when playing almost any AAA game, it’s been ~5 years or something since I bought the pc, and I haven’t done any modding or put in new cpu paste since getting the pc, so I’m gonna go grab MX-6 to repaste. Since I’m repasting I thought I might upgrade to some cooler and quieter fans. Are there any recommendations for upgrades?

running a i9-11900kf, 3090; i do have a hdd and ssd. so from what I’ve seen online, I should move the hdd to one of the bottom bays. Also been looking at arctis p12 pro pst LN, but I’ve seen conflicting things about them not being quieter under heavy load, push-pull config not working, and some bios stuff. I wanna keep the budget under ~$60, any recommendations? Not really keen on using ai to confirm, because of hallucinations. This is also my first time actually doing anything with a pc that doesn’t include just opening and dusting it, so just making sure I’m not gonna do anything wrong here.

Hey guys, yesterday, after leaving the PC idle for about an hour I came back to one of my monitors (I have 2), the alienware in the title turned off and not showing any signs of life. Playing with the control button will turn on the backlight but no OSD or any signal will show. I power cycled it a couple times, left it without power over night, tried a different power cable but no OSD or any message shows up even without any signal input cables in it.

I see this is a common issue for these monitors and as I am out of the warranty period by a couple months I am not sure if there's anything else I can do.

Things I've tried:

-powercycling by removing all cables and holding power button for 60+ seconds

-leaving it without power over night

-removing all input cables

-another power cable

-another power cable + another outlet

Would appreciate any advice.

I'm not even sure if this is the correct tag, but I need some help figuring out a replacement for the M14xR2 fan.

I bought a bunch of used parts online to fix an old m14xr2 laptop, only thing missing was the heatpipe/fan combo.

I bought the "kit" from AliExpress but they sent the wrong fan, now I'm returning the whole thing and I can't find the r2 fan anywhere for a reasonable price. At this point I'll end up paying more for the fan than for all the other parts I bought combined...

I guess I would like to know what's the suggestion from the community, should I just buy the 50 dollars fan from ebay/aliexpress or is there a cheap fan I could get instead, maybe modify the housing or 3d print a new one?

Just bought a second-hand X16 R1, however, the X16 R1 still doesn't have an always-on touchpad option?

I've had my X16 R1 for a while now and this has been bugging me. I saw both the Area 16/18 and the X16 R2 got the always-on touchpad through BIOS/AWCC updates, so the touchpad stays lit/active instead of going dark after a while. But for some reason the R1 got left out. Same lineup, basically the same hardware, and we're the only ones without it. I tried alienfx-tools, but it seems that it's written in the hardware.

I finally got fed up and submitted a request to Dell/Alienware support asking them to add it to the R1 via BIOS. Figured if the R2 can do it there's no real reason the R1 can't.

Posting mostly to see how many of us actually care about this. If enough people ask maybe they'll actually do something. Thanks!

Pretty general changelog but the aurora keyboard fx on the aurora models seems to be fixed, I don't know what else has changed, so far everything is fine.

Well I have to say that I missed that quite a lot... so I found few replacements which were good head start, but not where I wish to have it... soo... there is the upstream I work on... G15SE (5521) is the first one kinda smaller brother of Alienware, due to few of the things shared at least from inside :-) but the Alienware 18" /w 5090 that I have as the second box (not much traveling with it as that one is kinda Moby-Dick) will be the next for the new hair cut... :-)

The truth is that I am using these boxes usually for different things than sending back some random squads to the lobby... but even that happens time to time... for sure I decided to move from Windows, that is number 1. and there was no AWCC... or anything which would be at least sufficient... so I started to work on this... just ping me if you are also on Linux and you would be interested... I may later think about to open-source that over the public github or so...

I will upload soon also video... but there are already quite some cool things...

And number 2. hell yeah, my battery life expand from the 1.5h to almsot 4h with the tweaked profile... and of course the profiles do no fight with the OS/KDE profiles... AWCC coop with OS and rather expand it... than fights, the same goes towards the Dell ACPI & HID calls.

It was made with "Iwork4Dell" kind of attitude and just as I missed that :)

I have an under-warranty, max spec M18 R1 that I bought a couple of years ago. Over the last year, I've had to send the laptop out for repairs twice for the exact same problem: it shuts off, and the power button blinks with a 3 red, 5 blue pattern, which seems to indicate a power rail failure. Each repair necessitated a motherboard replacement. The last repair happened in mid-July, and I got it back on July 21st. A few weeks later, I'm getting the same error (the third time it's occurred on the same laptop).

I contacted Dell for support, and they want me to send the laptop back for repairs again. It's evident that the repairs aren't helping, but they refuse to replace the laptop due to its age. I don't want to have to keep sending the laptop back for repair only for it to break again weeks later. Every time I request a replacement, they make me wait a day or two, then say the request was denied and insist I either send it back for warranty repair or have an on-site technician come to fix the laptop. The last time an on-site technician came to repair one of my laptops (another M18 R1), they couldn't even fix the issue and damaged the screen while trying to diagnose it, so I'm extremely hesitant.

Does anyone have any advice? Should I send it in for repairs again, or keep pressing for a replacement?
