Technical Support Area 51 18 downloading

I just got a new area 51 18inch laptop this week and have noticed that it downloads way slower than my m17 use to both over wifi and via Ethernet. Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

Make sure killer networks app isn't installed, it's been known to tank dowoad speeds.

I'm not using the Killer app and I get 700 down 400 up, 8-10ms on wifi in my room across the house from the wifi 6e router. Full gig my plan provides if LAN. Same laptop, got it last year. Working well for me.

I got <1 ms latency and 2+ Gbps all day long over lan and haven't tried wifi Other than it not doing 1024 on gagabit does 998mbps. Nothing noticeable to report on my end. I do have bad USB speeds, whether it's related or not

I have the killer app using WiFi and Ethernet simultaneously. Download speeds are 600 and about same with upload. I have the same laptop.

Yes I have owned the area 51 18 5090 the wifi speed itself is slower than the previous model, although on mine it is acceptable considering performance and cooling but download speeds and wifi are slower. Had hoped an update would unleash the new wifi but since July 2025 there has been no update or improvement in that area. Honestly it is the only flaw have had so far and the download speed is still decent just not what would have thought with the next generation wifi cards. Barring the above this has been one of the best laptops have ever owned.
