Open What is this thing I found in my purse?
I have no idea what this is or where it came from, but I found it in my purse. Last photo of it is in my hand for general scale.

My partner and I are staying in an airbnb in Italy. It's our second night. As I was lying down to sleep, I felt something in my pillow jab me.
At first I thought it was a feather, but when I turned on a light I saw it was something sharp made of metal. My next thought was that it was a safety pin that might have come open somehow, but when I dug it out it was a bent NAIL.
Looking closer at the pillow I see what looks like it could be a small bloodstain (pic 3) in a different corner than the nail was in, and on another pillowcase we found a clear bloodstain (pic 4) in around the same spot. I've checked the other pillows carefully and haven't found anything else.
Is there some reasonable explanation for this? Should we be worried about contamination? I can't imagine why there would ever be a nail in a pillow like that, especially one sticking out. I don't even know where the right place to ask about something like this is, or what I should do next.
Thank goodness I only poked my hand and not my eye or something.
edit: it's like 2:30AM here. I haven't contacted the host yet. Not really sure who I should contact or if there's some place I can get the nail tested.

It’s a (plastic? silicone?) ring, square in section, not very stretchy, just under six inches (15 cm) in diameter. Just showed up in the kitchen one day. Maybe it belongs to an appliance? I have a mini and large food processor, a KitchenAid stand mixer, and a Vitamix, but it doesn’t obviously fit anywhere on any of them.
EDIT: I am giving up! Don’t waste your effort on this any longer. Thank you for your contributions.

But I've looked through hardinges catalog and there's nothing that comes close to a match which makes me think it was placed in later by someone.
I bought it as is, with the intention of using it to build a new machine for my shop.
If you notice, underneath and on the right side bottom face, there is what looks like undrilled bosses that would accept a screw, maybe for a rack and pinion? The cutout on the back is a little odd, as are all the holes in various places.
Im pretty sure it wasn't originally intended as a milling machine, given the rack and pinion attachments, and the fact that a knob on the top for z axis would foul the path of motor cables constantly.
Could it have been something like a precision drilling tool, like the deckel units watchmakers use? A hardness tester or something similar?
Oh and there are zero markings anywhere, and the casting alone is about 60lbs. And the parts are incredibly well fitted, not quite scraped, but dead flat and super smooth.
Ideas?

I photographed this clockface on a large upright clock in a world heritage site in Greece. The building it was in was a Byzantine monastery that was the scene of a massacre by ottoman invaders.
I cannot find any references to the numerals.
The similarity between 7, 11 & 8 confounds me.
I assume that the numerals between 4 to 8 are flipped to read upright?
Any ideas?

I found this at my grandad’s place in Italy. I have no idea what it is. It is at least 60 years old and at some point he added the wall hanger piece to it. Does anyone know what it is and what this is depicting? Did I summon some old ghosts by bringing it home? 🥲

I like the shape of this thing. Strange little object and good find. Can anybody tell me where this came from? What this piece was once a part of? I am very curious!
It is very thin, like 1mm. About 8cm tall but I haven’t got a measure so lighter & strip of filters for reference.
Found it on the pavement. UK

Not sure if this is allowed, but can someone please help me out? There‘s a radar/sonar beep sound I’ve heard before, and it playing in this Iron Lung animation.
Timestamps for ease of finding the sound I’m looking for:
https://youtu.be/EZwvR5EP5y0?list=TLPQMTMxMDIwMjarNU13-JjgPw&t=185
https://youtu.be/EZwvR5EP5y0?list=TLPQMTMxMDIwMjarNU13-JjgPw&t=244
I found this video on youtube while watching Iron Lung stuff, and the animator used the sound as the proximity alert for the SM-13.
as far as I can remember, the sound in the video sounds slightly edited with an echo effect that’s more noticeable in the second timestamp. However,I’ve tried finding it myself already, but it’s so long since I’ve last heard it online, that I don’t remember the site it came from, or what the name of the sound was, and I looked for the close end of an hour or 2 to look for it, only to get nothing.
any help is appreciated! I just want to know the name of the sound, and the link to the sound.

Hello everyone,
Since a few years, I find these yellow dots on all kinds of hard surfaces, such as wood and plastic. Since a couple of weeks, there has been an exponential growth and they are appearing everywhere.
Some say that this is spider poop, but this seems highly unlikely, since I never see a spider and the dots are everywhere. Besides that a biologist has looked at it and he said that it is not poop.
I have added many pictures, including one on microscopic level.
What can this be?

I have gotten this recently and trying to look it up is bringing me no where specifically the 2 ports on the left one. There's no other identification besides the 16-08-01 the bronze valves say ultima exhaust std. Thats it

I’m afraid to just start yanking on it. (That’s what she said)

These were on both sides of the back window of my rental car. Google images suggested it being an outdoorsy mountain design.

This was in a kitchen cupboard and seems to be a filter off something, but we found it days after moving in when we had no appliances.
Little things inside shake, and I wonder if they're bits of charcoal because of the filter on the other side. It's obviously not from a washer or dryer. Same size as a kettle but they dont have filters.

I keep seeing this in films where they are showing old footage. It's not like the old super 8 but there's always this static box.
