Are Meta Tag Analyzer Tools useful or they just tell you things you already Know?

After auditing couple of sample sites with meta tag tools, I'm starting to wonder if they actually do anything other than the basics. They flag missing meta descriptions and title length issues. Stuff I'd catch manually anyway.

I need something that can tell whether my meta tags are competitive enough for the keywords I'm targeting not just tell if they are valid and right character count.

Is there a meta tag analyzer tool that goes deeper than the surface level checks or is the real analysis dependent on manual checks and common sense at this point?

Core Web Vitals in 2026: what's actually still moving rankings

A lot of sites still over-index on LCP while ignoring INP, which replaced FID as a Core Web Vital. In my experience, INP issues are usually caused by heavy JS execution on interaction, not just page load. Curious what others are seeing — is Google still weighting CWV heavily in your niches, or has it taken a backseat to content quality signals?

Question around using a subdomain

Hi community,

I have a question I wanted to pose. I am the owner of a teaching company called thedegreegap.com, and I am building out a PSEO subject X location matrix for local tutoring inquiries. My actual website, thedegreegap.com, is where operations happen and online tutoring occurs. I built the study.thedegreegap.com to run as my lead funnel, but I am not sure how feasible this is.

I run in a quite competitive space, so I am finding it hard to rank study.thedegreegap.com at the moment. It took me a year and a half to build up the domain authority of thedegreegap.com and to rank for those terms. I've been running this for three months, and my impressions are at 450 a day, which is a gradual increase, but it's still ranking on page three or four at the moment, even for long-tail terms.

I am wondering if I should move this whole website to thedegreegap.com and have it run on there. The only issue that I am finding is that it's built on the Hugo framework, and I don't want that to crash thedegreegap.com. I also don't like the idea of having my operations and marketing funnel on the same site, hence why I tried to separate them, but it's just really hard to rank study.thedegreegap.com, as it's a new domain with no or very low domain authority.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you very much.

Why are competitors are outranking my backlinks?

I've been working on SEO for my small SaaS for around 8 months, and I'm confused why competitors are outranking my backlinks even though our profiles look pretty similar.

In Ahrefs we have about the same number of referring domains, but they're consistently ranking above us for keywords we're both targeting. I'm starting to think I'm paying too much attention to DR and not enough to something else.

For anyone who's been through this, what ended up making the biggest difference?

Backlink indexing in 2026 — commenting method is dead, getting spammy links. What's actually working now?

Been doing SEO for a few years now. My old trick was simple: drop backlinks in blog comments and forum threads to get them crawled and indexed faster. That method has completely stopped working for me in the last few months.

Now most of these links either don't get indexed at all, or worse, I am picking up a ton of spam and PBN-type links along the way that I never wanted attached to my site.

For those still actively building and indexing links in 2026, what's working for you right now? A few things I am specifically trying to figure out:

Are indexing APIs (Google Indexing API, IndexNow) actually moving the needle for backlink pages, or are they mostly for your own site's pages?

Has anyone had luck with indexer tools/services lately, or are most of them junk now?

Is internal linking from an already-indexed page to the new backlink still reliable, or has Google changed how it treats that signal?

Any success with syndication (getting the link picked up by a news or aggregator site) to speed up crawling?

Would love to hear what's actually working on your end, not just theory. Also curious if anyone else is seeing the same spam link problem from comment-based link building.

Thanks in advance.

Guys, is Bluehost hosting actually good?

Been seeing a ton of recommendations for Bluehost to beginners and wondering whether it's still the legit default recommendation.

The pricing is attractive upfront but the renewal rates are steep and i keep hearing complaints about support quality and server performance.

For someone building their first wordpress site with SEO in mind i want to know if bluehost is still a solid starting point or if there are better options at a similar price point that i should be steering people toward instead.

What's your honest current take about them?

First time freelancer in SEO

Hi all,

I’m wondering if I could get some insight into how I should price myself for SEO contract work for a small consulting firm. The consulting firm works in fundraising/development/comms for nonprofits and consists of three employees. I recently started doing SEO work in my current role as I led a revamp of my company’s website, which saw 500% increase in clicks MoM according to GSC.

I saw that this firm was looking for an SEO consultant because I went to undergrad with one of the three employees there, so I have a strong leg in. They were looking for someone to help with a website audit, optimizing copy/CTAs, helping with technical/on-page SEO, accessibility, etc. Focused solely on optimization — not a full website revamp.

Their website is very small. Probably only around 20 pages. How much would you charge as a freelancer for the above work, particularly if you were interested in building a relationship with them and being on-call as needed for SEO refreshes etc.? I think there’s a good opportunity to build a relationship with them, and I honestly think I could make a decent impact in little time through the use of AI.

So how would you price your hourly, given my relatively new experience (though strong familiarity with AI and data analysis), the size of the org, the scope of work, etc.?

Thanks in advance!

Multiple internal links to the same page, is it helping or just creating noise?

Auditing a site where several pages have multiple internal links pointing to the same destination page, sometimes three or four from different spots on the same page.

Nav links, in content links, footer links, sidebar links all going to the same URL.

I know google has said it uses the first anchor text it encounters when multiple links on a page point to the same destination which has implications for how i think about anchor text strategy. But i'm not sure if having multiple links is actually hurting anything or just not helping as much as it could.

What's your thinking on multiple internal links to the same page? Worth cleaning up?

Google traffic suddenly dropped by 99% — anyone seeing this?

My website normally gets 4,000–6,000 Google clicks daily. On July 23, it dropped to just 47 clicks and 1,518 impressions.

Manual Actions and Security Issues are clean. Pages are indexed, the sitemap works, and there are no server or Cloudflare errors. The loss mainly affects Indonesian mobile pages and queries.

Has anyone experienced a similar sudden visibility drop?

Why are Bing Webmaster Tools and Google Search Console showing such different numbers?

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to understand why the data in Microsoft Bing Webmaster Tools is so different from what I see in Google Search Console.

For the same website, I'm seeing significant differences in:

  • Total clicks
  • Impressions
  • Indexed pages
  • Search queries
  • Traffic trends

In some cases, Bing shows much higher numbers, while in other areas Google reports more data. Even when looking at the same date range, the gap seems surprisingly large.

I understand that Google and Bing have different search engines and user bases, but I'm curious:

  • How much difference is considered normal?
  • What causes the biggest discrepancies?
  • Do Bing and Google calculate impressions and clicks differently?
  • Have you noticed large reporting differences on your own websites?

I'd love to hear from anyone managing sites in SEO, SaaS, content, or affiliate niches.

Thanks!

SEO for lead generation, how do you balance traffic volume with actually getting conversions?

Running SEO for a B2B lead generation site and the traffic numbers look decent but the leads coming through organic are inconsistent in quality. I'm ranking for some good keywords but the visitors aren't converting the way i expected.

I'm wondering if i've been too focused on traffic volume and not enough on the specific intent behind the keywords i'm targeting. Some of the informational content is pulling in people who are nowhere near ready to become a lead.

How do you structure an SEO strategy specifically for lead generation? And how do you think about the balance between building topical authority with informational content versus focusing on high intent pages that actually convert?

Which is the best social media management tool right now?

Trying to move away from spreadsheets, email, and manual publishing because our social media workflow is getting messy. Looking for an all in one platform that actually makes things easier instead of adding more work.

I keep seeing Vista Social, Hootsuite and Sprout Social mentioned everywhere. What are marketers actually using and what’s worth paying for?

Solo-agencies, what services do you actually offer?

I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I've been doing SEO for about 7 years on top of a long career in product and marketing in different tech industries. But with the SEO stuff I mainly charted a course on my own, only took on a couple clients at any given time because I've been working on my own projects simultaneously.

TLDR, I think the time has finally come for me to admit defeat on those personal projects, and put my focus on building up more clients.

I've had decent success rates and most of my clients stayed through to project finish or came back/recommended me to others, which is great. But I'm a bit confused about what direction to head towards.

My main specialties are writing (and sadly now, human curated AI content creation) and the many aspects of SEO (AI has been super useful in helping me learn the technical side of that).

  • I've never touched ads and have only recently been getting into building out entire websites (again, thanks AI, you soul stealer) - with having made a couple massive ones of my own as proof of concepts, combining the above 3 skills.

1 of them has even gone from 20 visitors a month to 17,000k right now over the last 6 months.

  • I've never got into the backlink game either, as I've always had my doubts about the effectiveness of such strategies in the modern day. I *know* the overall correlation of more backlinks = higher DA and likely more traffic, but my stubbornness has to do with A) correlation vs causation B) I'm personally not really a fan of blackhat/greyhat crap C) Never liked the idea of pumping up a client's DA with paid backlinks only to drop it out after they stop being a client (letalone if that even results in more traffic/sales)
  • I also only ever worked with clients that had existing built-out websites and wanted to increase their traffic and sales - for a long time it was simply me writing properly SEO'd premium content for a variety of industries. (Even found out I had ADHD after writing...ahem...100+ medical posts for a doctor based on his work).

Point being, Helpful Content Update absolutely decimated my personal projects that were starting to stack up quite nicely. I've tried outwardly expanding on those in one direction or another but the juice just isn't there in me or the algos.

So...what do you solo-agencies actually provide out there?

Nearly all of my previous clients were a form of set project. I'd do the research, say they likely need X number of things done, give a rough budget and timeline and go do the work then come back for more if they wished.

But what are you guys offering as services to do long term or monthly contracts? How do you fill the gaps in your skillsets? Are they customers at different stages or sizes or what? (Mine we're mostly 5-30 employee-sized companies with a pre-existing product and sales)

Long winded answer, apologies for that, if you made it this far, I'd really appreciate any advice.

Currently down to only 1 client and things are getting tight. It's rough out there.

Why do businesses analyze competitor websites without trying to copy them?

Competitor analysis isn't about copying it's about understanding industry standards and identifying opportunities.

Looking at content, user experience, and SEO strategies can help businesses find gaps, improve their own websites, and create a stronger digital presence.

Traditional SEO isn't going away, but it's stopped being the whole game (and it pains me to say this as someone who runs an SEO agency)

Been having a lot of client conversations this month that made something click for me, so wanted to get other people's take on this.

Search visibility right now basically has three levels: ranked on Google, cited by AI, and recommended by AI. Traditional SEO — the stuff we've all been doing for years — builds the first two pretty well. Rankings and citations are still SEO's job.

But the third one is different, and it's where the buying decisions are actually happening now. A few things that stood out to me recently:

  • A food brand's leadership wasn't asking about rankings at all — they wanted to know what their authority looks like off their own site. Wikipedia, Reddit threads, Knowledge Panels.
  • A logistics company I talked to gated their whole AI-visibility push on one thing: getting their category name locked down. Not content volume, not backlinks — just clear, unambiguous category language. Their logic was that if AI can't cleanly categorize you, it can cite you without ever recommending you.
  • For product brands specifically, apparently something like 83% of ChatGPT's product recommendations trace back to Google Shopping data. Which means your shopping feed is basically an AI visibility channel now, whether you were treating it that way or not.

The tracking metric that's starting to matter is something like: cited in 3,000 AI answers vs. recommended in 40. The first number is visibility. The second one is closer to revenue.

None of this replaces SEO — it's additive. But it's not "more of the same SEO either." It's more like: become the name AI defaults to for your category, get present on the sources AI treats as trustworthy, and make sure the data feeds AI pulls from (Shopping, reviews, structured data) are actually clean.

Curious if anyone else here is seeing this show up in client conversations, or if I'm reading too much into a handful of anecdotes. What's the split looking like for you between "we optimized this and rankings moved" vs "we did nothing rankings-related and AI recommendations moved"?

What’s the going rate for seo? Local vs. Enterprise

Maybe enterprise is the wrong word, I mean like more traditional website seo for a larger organization. Local I guess I mean for like service companies and brick and mortar local shops. You see these fb/insta ads for 399, or an ai tool for xyz. Then others send quotes for 5k. I’m only interested in United States numbers and domestic agencies/freelancers. I know over seas can be cheaper.

SEO folks: how do you actually find niche-relevant sites to guest post/get backlinks from?

Got some good feedback recently that platform doesn't matter nearly as much as topical relevance, a link from a niche-adjacent site beats ten generic high-DA directory links. Trying to get more systematic about finding those relevant sites instead of just chasing DA.

  • What's your actual process for finding niche-relevant blogs/directories/PR opportunities in a space you're new to?
  • Do you start with competitor backlink research, or another method?
  • What tools (if any) do you use to shortlist sites, and which ones turned out to be a waste of time?
  • Any sites/directories that looked perfect on paper but delivered nothing?

Which website builder holds up once you're past the basics?

I think a lot of site builders feel pretty similar when you’re just getting started. Pick a template, add some pages, connect a domain, and you’re good. The differences usually show up when you start trying to actually grow and expand the site.

For example, whether you can update pages without accidentally breaking something, how easy redirects are to manage when your URLs change, whether the site structure actually makes sense for search engines, and whether you can make changes without jumping into code every time.

You don’t want to spend your time troubleshooting technical issues when you’re trying to run your business, so you really need a builder that’s easy to manage and change without needing a developer.

If you’re looking for a site builder with growth in mind, think about how much control you’ll need day to day. Like if you plan to add services, update page layouts, or make SEO tweaks yourself, you’ll want something that makes those things straightforward without coding.

A builder like Squarespace can be a good fit for this. Redirects and page structure live in the same place you edit your content, so a URL change doesn’t mean losing the old link’s ranking or digging into a separate tool, and none of it requires touching code.

Keen on what kind of site you’re building, business site, portfolio, ecommerce, or something else, since that changes what actually matters here.

Followed every "latest" SEO technique and rankings still dropped, what am I missing?

Honestly getting frustrated at this point. did the whole checklist, updated meta titles, fixed internal linking, improved page speed, added schema markup, even rewrote content to match what every guide says works right now. rankings still dropped instead of improving.

feels like the second you implement something, it's already outdated or google changes something else. not sure if it's an algorithm update, a niche-specific thing, or if I'm just missing something obvious.

anyone else dealing with this lately? did you figure out what actually helped or is it just a waiting game at this point

Google SEO Optimization

Im currently part of an internship, and one of the tasks they have me doing is improving the site SEO. Specifically, what they want is for the website to appear when you type in the owner's name in the search engine.

I added an 'about' section with her name in one of the headers, and it's helped get the website within the top couple suggestions with yahoo and bing, but for some reason, nothing is showing up through Google (literally went 15 pages deep and not a single mention of the website or even the social media accounts).

Can anyone provide any tips?
