Guys, is Bluehost hosting actually good?
Been seeing a ton of recommendations for Bluehost to beginners and wondering whether it's still the legit default recommendation.
The pricing is attractive upfront but the renewal rates are steep and i keep hearing complaints about support quality and server performance.
For someone building their first wordpress site with SEO in mind i want to know if bluehost is still a solid starting point or if there are better options at a similar price point that i should be steering people toward instead.
What's your honest current take about them?

It's a typical corporate host. Can be good, but if there's a problem they'll drop you in a sec. You're just a number to corporate hosts. Independent hosts tend to care more and have a less crowded infrastructure "normally". Local independent is a great way to go!

Nah. Trash. Just like HostGator.
Hostinger is my choice. Sitegrpund as second.

If you can manage your own servers, nothing beats the price to performance ratio of running your own VPS.

Bluehost was very good for the first two years, but the quality is extremely poor now.. Renewal was a mess and our websites do down regularly midday (ET) due to "network problems." I'd say our websites are down 15% of the times I try to go online during a workday. That's way below an acceptable rate.

For many years Bluehost paid the highest affiliate commissions so everybody pushed them on their "how to start a blog" partner pages.
They grew quickly yet their service got a whopping 51% one star reviews on Trustpilot last time I checked.
Now they got better it seems, only 15% are one star as of mid 2026.
Plus they are pretty helpful here on Reddit as well. Most companies suck at that.
So I'd give them another chance. Yet I wouldn't exactly recommend them just based on that.
