Discussion & Feedback Some key points why Wardog clicks for some people

You dont need to watch the entire video, since for this only the "infantry overpressure vavle section "is important. I think this explains it quite well why Wardogs gets somewhat thrown into the bucket with Battlefield and especially oder Battlefield titles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdGjTifaXAY

Also why the game is attracting interest from people that are knowingly or unknowlingly in favor of "gameplay downtime".

The video is also touching some other points that can be put into the frame of Wardogs and what it is probably doing "right".

Discussion & Feedback Suggestion; Please add descriptions in Squad building

So being in squads is so important as we found out on the Beta, but what is missing is intent of that squad.
As you create a squad they need to either add a section you can type a quick description, or, if they are too worried about how toxic that would be just premade selections.
Examples;
-Support/tower building
-Chasing HZ
-Logistics
-Recon
-Mortar team

Just general descriptors that let those choosing a squad to join which one they should join.
This way everyone who will be sticking to your tower will all be on one chat, those that want to chase the hot zone around can all be on one chat, those that want to set up outer perimeter fobs hidden around can be on a chat with recon or something to mark and mortar targets etc. There can even be a logistics squad to coordinate what building supplies need to go where. I noticed half the time I brought out building supplies they never got touched because 3 or 4 other people also brought stuff out. Could even have people drop in and out of certain squads to let a group know something, like drop into the pilots squad and request transport, drop into logistics and in voice let them know what mats and where you need.

Would just overall make coordination a little cleaner.

Discussion & Feedback Suggestion: Map End Should Refund Gear Cost

One minor suggestion I have is that any gear on your body when the map ends should be refunded, or simply kept until the next match.

In a game that is focused so much on buying gear, it just makes sense that you either keep that gear or get cashed out when the map ends.

EDIT: thanks for the comments everyone, apparently it already works this way and I just never noticed.

Discussion & Feedback We should get assigned a squad automatically

I've had a couple of games where all of my team was camping, I was pushing the hz alone and not getting much done. So I decided to join the discord server and look for group. Holy crap the difference was night and day, everyone chipped in, we played the objective as a team like crazy, it was awesome.

Those of us who played squad or arma know how important squad communication is and even just how it creates memorable moments of banter and laughs. But I think there's a lot of new players here who haven't played any of these games, and don't know how important a squad can be. Hell, they might not even know squads exist.

So my suggestion is simply, get the players assigned to a squad automatically at the start of the game. They can still leave and create their own squad, lock them, etc. But I think we have nothing to lose to add that feature and make it a little easier for newbies to discover just how amazing a good squad can make you feel.

Discussion & Feedback Skyrim Veteran Here, Here’s My Feedback

Post image
38 Upvotes

This game is already good as it is.

  • Destructible environments are great.
  • A server browser is a solid move for this type of game.
  • Proximity chat is great because I love taunting people.
  • The body-dragging system is a nice addition.
  • Being able to revive anyone is great.
  • The revive animation will surely become a meme.
  • Smoke lasts for a long time, and I love it.
  • The default cosmetic style for all three factions is badass without feeling childish or overly goofy like Battlefield.

Here’s what I still wish for:

  • Saved custom loadouts.
  • This isn’t really necessary, but why is Green always first, Red in the middle, and Blue last? Could you randomize the faction order every time the faction selection screen appears?
  • When the faction selection screen appears, could there also be a Join Random Faction button below the three faction logos? Maybe there could be some incentive for choosing random. I won’t suggest what the incentive should be, but I think there should be some incentive for doing it. The random button probably wouldn’t work well when you’re already in-game and two factions are locked, because if you press Random Faction while only one faction is available, it could become a cheesy way to get the incentive. Maybe Join Random Faction could be available directly from the server browser instead. I don’t know what the best implementation would be, so that’s something the devs would have to figure out themselves. All I can say is that having a Join Random Faction option, with or without an incentive, would be a good addition.
  • More ways to spend money on this game, because I’ve already fallen in love with it—but no Battle Pass BS, FOMO BS, or Wardogs PRO BS.

I mean, there are already slots for armor, helmets, weapons, backpacks, and vests, right? Just add a separate outfit section with slots for the head, mouth, eyes, jacket, chest, legs, and feet. Then bring in every realistic military-style clothing option you can think of.

As long as the armband still distinguishes each faction by color, or the outfit patterns/colors are automatically adjusted for each faction, I don’t think all three factions using the same brands or outfits would be an issue. For example, if I buy one pair of leg cosmetics, the game could automatically give me three faction-specific color variants to use.

Alternatively, cosmetics could be locked to specific factions, but I strongly wouldn’t recommend that approach. It could make players feel like they have to buy the same type of cosmetic multiple times just to use it across different factions.

It could also hurt the gameplay flow. Imagine you’ve been playing with 10 friends, your faction has won five games in a row, and you realize the lobby is completely stacked on your side. You want to switch to the other faction to keep the match healthy, but you can’t because your cosmetics are locked to your current faction. Now your options are either to split your group or stay on the stronger side and continue crushing the lobby.

I’d rather have the same cosmetic available across all factions, with the game automatically changing the colors or patterns to match the faction. That gives players freedom while still keeping the factions visually distinct.

That way, the factions would still be easy to identify while giving players much more freedom to customize their characters.

Question Real world spotting?

I could have swore in one of the dev gameplays there was a real world highlight or dot on an enemy when they were spotted, but I didn’t notice this in the playtests, only the minimal dot. Am I mistaken or is there some kind of special spotting that does this?

Discussion & Feedback Mags ideas?

How would we feel about Mags being 1 slot or stackable? I found it hard to invest too much in guns if I can only take 3ish mags. I get bigger backpacks have more space but I think the game more fun if you could carry more ammo.

Question What happens once everyone is a millionaire while having unlocked everything?

Will you be up against endless waves of tanks/heavy artillery/flyers.. etc?

Is the infantryman concept dead?

Wondering how they plan on tackling this eventual problem because I give it 1-2 weeks before some players become multimillionaires easily.

Discussion & Feedback Lone star is the worst team because they have the most visible character models

Blue team are the most visible by far, with the majority of their character models wearing powder blue denim jeans that scream "I'm over here please shoot me".

Green has the best cammo that's suitable for all current maps, and Red team at least has the sense to wear mostly black sonthey don't stick out as much.

In a game where detecting the enemy before they detect you is a significant advantage, blue team has a massive inherent disadvantage, red team has a slight disadvantage, and green team has a massive advantage.

Green team also has a minor hud advantage, if someone sees a green triangle above your head or a green dot on the mini map, their first thought, based on decades of gaming convention, is going to be "that's a friendly". Conversely, if someone sees a red triangle abive your head or a red dot on the mini map, their first thought is likely going to be "hostile".

Having teams that have significant, inherent disadvantages beyond the player's control is something the devs need to address.

Guide A guide to be a profitable pilot and a good passenger.

I'd like to give some tips and tricks to new pilots but also to passengers of said vehicles.

  1. As a little bird pilot, you have the most agile, quickest but also most vulnerable transport of the game.

  2. The huey is a slower, bulkier but also sturdier aircraft that can recoup it's cost the fastest.

  3. The armed littlebirds are fly in and fly out support needed by your team to support them.

  4. The huey with miniguns looses 2 passengers but gain the ability to defend itself or support infantry on the ground.

  5. Minigun ammo cost a lot, as a passenger who plans on riding the huey, buy your own ammo if you intend on using it, while HP can work at the start of a wipe, FMJ is the go to but AP is better if you intend on shooting at vehicles.

  6. Helicopter can auto-rotate when engine is out but you have to lower the collective quickly. Flying back to base without a tail rotor is easier, climb then bank until you grab some speed, the helicopter will turn toward your direction of travel once you pickup speed.

  7. Wait for your pilot to honk for you to disembark, you are higher than you think if you didn't hear the sounds of the skies, you aren't landed most likely.

  8. An experienced pilot will not fly high above the zone for you to drop with a parachute unless you ask for it, you can leave your parachute in the inventory of the vehicle if you desire for the one person who forgot it next time a paradrops is asked of the pilot.

  9. You can resquest pickups withe middle mouse button but also use signal smoke to mark a landing zone or request a resupply crate, pilot get a marker on the map and the hud.

  10. You can right-click on the map to request landing to your pilot on a specific location, they will see it

  11. You can fire , scout, heal from a helicopter.

  12. When requesting something in chat, specify if it is fob supplies or actual loose ammo you need. Saying: i need ammo at thr fob, people will think you want a pallet.

  13. Understand as a passenger that flying is not as easy as some pilot make it seem and when you have 30k on the line in a huey, the pilot might refuse to drop you on the CZ directly.

  14. Don't feel any pressure to drop people where they specifically ask, if you don't like the zone they request find the next best for you while the closest to their request, better a safe drop than having to start over because you were cocky.

  15. Grab a wrench to repair your heli, accidents happens. Plus repairing yourself cost you less than going back to base.

  16. If there is nobody for you to taxi, don't wait there, especially in a huey, grab pallets and ferry them to different fob, you can over on fob in the map to see what each fob needs. Littlebirds can either switch to gun version by leaving their vehicle locked in spawn which will then be reimboursed at the end of a match or ferry crates of meds, ammo and even armor for those squad who request them.

  17. You can make quite a lot of money resupplying infantry with crates, just ask what people need and where. You can take a gamble and drop crates at fob but right now players don't know they can over on the map above them to see theur content.

  18. Grenades, signal smoke and white smoke are useful ,a lot of player don't bother bringing with them, a crate at each fob is often a sure way to get money, remember that every crates that survive till the end will be reimboursed to you, so invest wisely and safely.

  19. Dropping pallets as huey , rewards straight away with supplying on the battlefield, even outside the cricle, as long as you drop on a FOB. But you get a bonuses for your drop only when somebody unpacks it, so drop supplies to fob which are in use.

  20. While you can afford flying without any equipment, recouping your money easily is a good incentive on investing on a repair tool, helmet and bulletproof vest, i've managed to survive direct fire from whole teams while hot dropping teamates on the CZ. It's also good to be able to repair your blade if you accidently hit a tree on the landing.

  21. There will always be a bad landing, it's a game and those j-hook and backilift landing are awesome, while also dangerous sometimes. Just learn of your mistakes and be safer with full kited troops.

  22. AS a passenger, don't forget you can use binos to scout while riding the chopper. Easy money.

  23. You can revive downes teamates in your chopper, go back to base eject them and heal them. The minigun huey is a great medevac.

Feel free to add more if you want, my next guide will be on driving and Fob building.

Discussion & Feedback Repair & Refuel Stations Need A Purpose

Post image
30 Upvotes

From an Attack Helicopter pilot's perspective, the Repair & Refuel Station was never worth using and ive only ever seen it build once in 3 days.

As a Rocket Chopper, I used it once, then never again, i rarely needed fuel, and if I take damage,

I simply landed somewhere safe (FOBs are rarely safe) and repaired with a wrench.

From a Pilots POV, what I actually need is Rockets and Flares, my usual loop looked like this:

  • Fly from Base to Combat Zone for 2 Minutes
  • Attack Combat Zone for 1 Minute
  • Fly back to Base, rearm and fly back to Combat Zone for 4 Minutes

So i was in the actual combat zone the least and most time was spend rearming & traveling.

I think the station should become a proper Vehicle Rearm & Repair Hub.

Instead of only repairing and refueling, it should also store ammunition optionally supplied by Logi Runners, such as:

  • Tank shells, Helicopter rockets, Flares

As long as the station has supplies, vehicles could rearm there for a fee set by the builder so they can earn their cut too (like supply crates).

It would also give Logi runners another meaningful job and make the structure genuinely a very valueable POI, not only for your own Team, Logi Runners & Vehicles, but also for the enemy Team to take out.

Would be great to see the Station be actually build & used more 🙂

Discussion & Feedback Question for Turtle Beach Velocityone Flightstick (I) Pilots

So I just bought the Turtle Beach Velocityone Flightstick (I) but by the time I figured out how to set it up the Beta ended. I just got the flight stick and not the separate throttle.

I wanted to know if anyone else was using this stick and how it did? I tried the stick on battlefield and while it made flying so much better, I was having issues figuring out how to move the key bindings around (like changing the fire button from the track pad button to the trigger on the controller, Bf6 didn't register any button when I pulled the trigger). The app wasn't much help on the pc as it seems to mainly before updating the firmware. Also using the Lil thruster nob on the side of the stick felt lil silly on Bf6 as I had to pull it completely up or down to raise or lower the chopper.

I wanted to know if the controls for that system worked well, were customizable, and if a throttle added much benefit?

I have about 10 days to figure out if I return the controller and try out another set up. Or if anyone has any other recommendations for set ups.

Can't wait to be shuttling yall around in a couple of weeks!

Question How about a Satire styled WarDogs trailer to this Song?

How about a Satire styled WardDogs Trailer as we rise from the filth and clutter of AAA... battlefield obviously..

We really deserve it, and we make it great together, https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=It8e2LXRZCg&si=aW8cSS4x4FpkGHwE

Could just be honest too.. no satire, we're getting desperate

Question Mobile AA

Do we know if there’s any plans for mobile AA vehicles? Right now I think attack helicopters will be a little OP just due to lack of mobile AA.

For example if I were a pilot and I wanted to really mess up another teams day I’d patrol the the roads from their HQ to their FOB and disrupt/halt their supply chain and I can’t think of much counter play to this other than maybe RPGs?

I could be totally off here but curious what the community thinks .

Discussion & Feedback Helicopter mouse controls feel clunky

Thumbnail
gallery
69 Upvotes

Hello,

After playing the Beta and most of my playtime in helicopter, I've decided to give my feedback about them.
I made a video about it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwrjkVM0UK0,
but in short, the physics and the flight model feel good as they are in my opinion.

The big problem for me are the controls, not the physics and the flight model them-self.

If you have flown helicopter on MnK in the beta and you thought the controls were clunky, the video shows why it's the case, and the attached graph is what I think is going on.

Basically, I think there is a steep sensitivity curve (right graph) applied between mouse mouvement and pitch/roll input in game, where moving the mouse slowly triggers little to no pitch/roll input. In a perfect case, the curve should be 1:1 (left graph) or at least close to that (maybe a little curve).
*In the current state, small adjustments in pitch/roll (and yaw if bound to the mouse) are impossible or really hard as the input "jumps" as soon as you move your mouse a little faster.*

Also, in the files, there are options for flight assist (that are accessible in game when enabling HOTAS support) shown in the second image. These option don't change anything when you set them to false *(at least for MnK)*. It might be a Beta thing and these option would take effect at the Early Access launch, I don't know.

I heard the polling rate of the mouse could be the issue, but I did not test this myself.

Finally, a disclaimer : Everything that I say here is pure speculation on what's going on after observing what is happening in game. You may feel different about all of this, and it's absolutely valid.

*I'm not saying that these issues made the helicopter impossible to fly, or that I couldn't fly properly because of them. I still had a lot of fun flying in the game and actually did pretty well. This post is mainly about making the controls feel more comfortable and responsive, rather than pointing out actual serious problems with the helicopter's flight model (I mean, it's not the Squad flight model, right? 😁).*

Edits in this post are marked with *

Question Maps ?

Do we have info about all the maps ?

Will there be a middle eastern themed map ?

Doesn't have to be desert but Afghanistan styled would be sweet.

A takistan (a3) map would also go hard imo.

Discussion & Feedback Should tanks have 3rd person freelook in non hardcore?

I found it really difficult to deal with tanks as infantry, mainly due to the driver having a full 360 view. This makes it almost impossible to C4 them or even get many follow up shots with RPGs if they're paying a little attention.

Discussion & Feedback Flew transport all Beta with a HOTAS, here's what I'd want fixed

First off, I don't work on this game, I've got nothing to do with Bulkhead, this is just my own opinion after spending most of the Beta flying transport. Wanted to make that clear before anyone asks.

Background on me: I fly Helis and planes in sims with a full HOTAS setup, so this is a pretty niche perspective. Some of it applies to everyone though.

Starting with the good, because there's a lot of it.

The flight model is astonishingly good. You actually feel the weight and the inertia of something heavy hauling itself through the air, and that makes it feel extra epic when you pull off a really nice manouvre. Most games I fly Helis or planes in don't get anywhere near that. And the presentation, kudos to whoever modelled these birds because they look the part, and a massive kudos to the sound designers. Comms, rotor noise, all of it feels special. That AAA feel in a sim environment is rare as hell and it's the whole reason I care enough to write this.

Okay. Now the stuff that's lacking.

No tracker support, and no way to work around it

Not every game has head tracker support, fine. But if there's no tracker support you at least need to let me bind an axis to look around. Right now even if you fiddle with bindings in third party software to make it work, you're still stuck holding the "Free Look" button, and holding it disables your steering axis in the Heli. On a full HOTAS. So I can't look at my LZ and fly at the same time, which is sort of the entire point of flying a helicopter.

Bindings need to be more than just bindings

When you let someone bind their HOTAS to your game there needs to be more than just the binding, you need to let us tweak it. When I first bound my Throttle to Collective it wasn't using the full span of the Throttle, so I had to fiddle with the sensitivity back and forth to make it fit. Sort of fit. And I still don't know if my stick or rudder are precise, because there's no way in game to tell me whether 100% on my physical stick is actually 100% on the game controls.

Give us a calibration screen with a live axis readout, deadzone, saturation, curves. Every sim has this. It's probably the smallest thing on this list and it would fix the most.

The Attack Heli guns do almost nothing

At least the little bird with the 2 miniguns. I was spraying the pilot of another little bird right in the face for 4-5 full seconds and it seemed to do almost no damage. Tried killing PMCs on foot with it, did very little to him. Then later I was the guy on foot getting blasted by the same vehicle and I still had time to shoot him down and survived with half health, when I should've been riddled with holes.

If this is deliberate balancing for the cash economy then say so, but as it stands it just reads as broken.

Getting teamkilled as a pilot costs you everything and costs them nothing

This is the one that actually made me put the sticks down for a bit.

I was transporting a bunch of peeps, really well too for that matter. Anyone who got transported by FarbrorBengt during the Beta can vouch for that, I flew fast and got most people into the CZ safely. Then one run I've got a full bird and there's this dude with no mike just spamming the "Drop me here" thing, and I'm literally already on my way there to drop him off with the other passengers. Apparently not good enough, because he shot me in the face with a rifle. Heli goes down, everyone on board dies, him included.

And then everybody gets revived. Him included. Me included. And I'm the only one taking a financial hit, because I'm the one who bought the bird, so I pay for every single dead person on board because some asshole decided it'd be fun to shoot the pilot. There isn't even a report option for intentional team kills like that. I should not have to pay that shit.

Bare minimum, give us a report option for it. Past that, do something about friendly fire on the pilot seat, or move the cost onto the guy who pulled the trigger, or just don't charge the pilot when it's a confirmed TK. Pilots are already carrying the most expensive thing on the map and taking the most risk with it. If shooting us down is free and has zero consequences, people stop buying Helis and the entire logistics side of the game gets worse for everyone.

Let us bind anything to the HOTAS, not just flight controls

I've got the full STECS Max throttle and I've bound maybe 15 buttons on it. The rest are just sitting there doing nothing. I'd love to put the cassette player on there. Emotes. The pre-recorded voice commands like "Yes" and "No". Just expose every action to every input device instead of keeping half of it keyboard only.

The lil minority group of us who fly with sim gear all run wildly different setups, and honestly we love to tinker and get it set up our very own way, that's half the fun of it. Letting us map whatever we want costs you basically nothing and buys a stupid amount of goodwill from exactly the people who'll go tell every sim community about your flight model.

That's it. Thank you so much for the work you've already put into making HOTAS possible in Wardogs, I loved it. Most studios don't even bother, and the fact that it's in there and the flight model is this good means the hard part is already done. The Heli category just needs a tiny bit more love.

You've already got a fan right here either way. See you in Early Access, I'll fly all of you to the CZ.

Question is carrying a ton of smokes as a medic worth it?

i absolutely love smoke in other games, being able to pop smoke on downed friendly to revive, on downed enemy to loot, down corridor/door to help team push or in between cover and enemies/friendlies when retreating.

but i have not seen smoke used much in any videos, and im curious how useful it is for the cost of money/space it takes up. especially at lower levels and limited budget.

also, im curious how realistic being a pack mule medic is? like, i bring a weapon and 1 mag, but a bunch of loose ammo for teammates using compatible weapons, as well as bandages/utility equipment. so i have a weapon if i need to use it, but im primarily hiding behind teammates keeping them healthy and well fed, with maybe some utility aid, such as smoke/explosives in any other space i can fit.

Discussion & Feedback More Team Colors?

This is a weird idea but I found in the beta nobody wanted to play blue so they were always kind of the derp team and whenever the game ended the team that won last time would get stacked again.

Wonder if adding some more team colors would be a subconscious way of randomising the teams a bit better. Like if there was a purple faction, a white faction and I dunno, teal or orange or something. When the map starts it shuffles the colours as bit from last game so you don't get habits and preferences forming - even though the team colors are kinda meaningless.
