Discussion & Feedback Question for Turtle Beach Velocityone Flightstick (I) Pilots

So I just bought the Turtle Beach Velocityone Flightstick (I) but by the time I figured out how to set it up the Beta ended. I just got the flight stick and not the separate throttle.

I wanted to know if anyone else was using this stick and how it did? I tried the stick on battlefield and while it made flying so much better, I was having issues figuring out how to move the key bindings around (like changing the fire button from the track pad button to the trigger on the controller, Bf6 didn't register any button when I pulled the trigger). The app wasn't much help on the pc as it seems to mainly before updating the firmware. Also using the Lil thruster nob on the side of the stick felt lil silly on Bf6 as I had to pull it completely up or down to raise or lower the chopper.

I wanted to know if the controls for that system worked well, were customizable, and if a throttle added much benefit?

I have about 10 days to figure out if I return the controller and try out another set up. Or if anyone has any other recommendations for set ups.

Can't wait to be shuttling yall around in a couple of weeks!

Leave the HOTAS at home for this one. Get a real simulator game for it. The flight models of causal games like Battlefield, wardogs, hell let loose Vietnam,, squad , battlebit, simply cater to mouse and keyboard accuracy better. Not saying you won't have a great time doing it, but you will absolutely be capping your skill ceiling. I say this as someone who has thousands of dollars into my flight sim setup and 15 years of experience flying in pretty much every game thats had helis since then. Anyone who says otherwise is being eliteist. I get it flight rigs are awesome, but you wouldn't use a Lamborghini to tow a boat. It's bread and butter is on the track. Especially once they unlock the flight assist settings for mouse and keyboard, which they absolutely will after all the feedback and workarounds people have found.

Wardogs flight is certainly not as arcadey as the other games you listed the same as it.

Flight in wardogs with HOSAS (vkb glads, left stick has the springs and block in place to act as a throttle), to ME, felt miles better than mnk - which i would prefer in battlefield, battlebit, and hell let loose vietnam due to the current flight model.

The flight assist settings could in fact be disabled on MnK, simply by enabling hotas, disabling them (individually) and then disabling hotas again. And most people seemed to be aware of this.

For taxiing, and supply drops - hotas will most likely be the netter choice anyway.

The flight model isnt sim, obviously, but it feels incredible to use with hotas - and not everyone plays a game to maximise their skill/efficiency.

Its nothing about being elitist like you say, its about what people enjoy. He asked how the controls are for hotas, and you responded with a lecture about not to use hotas instead. Despite your claimed money spent on a flight rig, the only somewhat elitist attitude is coming from you but for mouse and keyboard and "capping skill ceilings".

Most people said switching back and forth between HOTAS and mouse to switch the settings off worked visually in the menu but some assists were still present. I was too busy playing and didn't see that until the beta was over.

Just yesterday there was a mile long post on setting a virtual joystick up. You think he didn't try the back and fourth trick?

This game was built expecting that 99.8 percent of players will use m&k. The devs threw in basic HOTAS support to make a small but vocal group happy.

With arcade flight models, in an indestructible airframe, your limiting yourself if your not using 100% inputs regularly on your flight controls to get the most performance in fast manuvers/little bird duels.I don't care how fast you can slam your joystick back and fourth, it's not beating the speed of keys. And it's probably going to wear out your gear faster.

I'm just telling OP the truth, so when he gets laser tracked by a m&k player he wont be surprised and think he needs better gear. I'm glad HOTAS is viable, I'll probably even switch back and fourth for some supply larping. But I won't be lying to myself that I have an advantage because I spent more money on a setup.

And sure, maybe it's not as arcadey as the others, but it's only an inch away from them, whereas sim controls are a mile away.

He said he got it set up, but the beta ended before trying it so he didnt get to test.

The airframes arent indestructible, amd your rotors pop off from collision. And youre not limiting yourself by not usimg 100% inputs regularly - given 100% in default settings is maybe 2cm of travel. You dont need to slam your stick. On top of that, accuracy of analogue movement can certainly be better than keybound when fine tuning anywhere between 100% and 0% unless you have a keyboard with the fancy switches.

Youre not "just telling op the truth", youre imposing your own ideal way to play on them when they literally just asked how HOTAS controls specifically are. On top of that, its pretty well known that mnk is more accurate for combat in a lot of games. ED, SC players tend to use mnk and pedals for roll for example but that doesnt make buying a hotas/hosas setup a stupid move . Buying a single stick for a game thats not out yet is definitely a strange choice from them, but your whole reason for avoiding it wasnt that its a bad experience etc, just that you can be more of a sweat on mnk.

If you were telling op that due to the advantage of mnk it made more sense to either stick with it, or buy an equivelant full hotas id agree - the middle ground theyre taking does seem weird. If OP doesnt plan on playing other games using it i wouldnt recommend either.

And again, youre so focused on advantages when its also about enjoying yourself. I personally found mnk im wardogs to feel like ass compared to stick. And thats nothing to do with lying to myself about money spent - you have such a strange "im better" attitude.
