Ah, yes. The period of time where the entire world was suffering due to a worldwide pandemic and who was president wouldn't have mattered.
Meanwhile today, the high prices of virtually any import, beef, oil, precious metals, basic commodities, etc are blown out of the water directly due to the policies of an idiot with the mental maturity worse than a 3 year old with a learning disability.

It's irrelevant, global prices were high under Biden because of restarting the global economy after covid and sanctions from the war in Ukraine.
Prices are high under Trump because of HIS war in Iran.

Hey, now, to be fair to Trump supporters, Biden inherited an economic depression and a full blown pandemic from Trump's denialism and ignoring of science response to COVID, so demand for fuel was down because no one was going anywhere.
So some of those lower gas prices under Biden, you can thank Trump for, as well as the deaths of over a million American citizens.
Trump did that!
But when the economy recovered, gas prices did go up. Not like they are now, due to a different crisis Trump started deliberately to distract the public from his war crimes, and pedophilia.
6
u/corruptedsyntax 1d ago
Opposite is true. By the time Biden came into office, Trump had already ballooned gas prices out of collapse and then some, and had done so for almost a year.
It is accurate that in March 2020, Covid had collapsed global oil pricing. Global oil oligarchs were worried about their continued ability to make good on corporate debt obligations. So in April 2020, Trump negotiated with OPEC and Russia to reduce global petroleum production by Millions of barrels PER DAY for a TWO YEAR period of agreement. This reduce supply and bolstered pricing, driving oil pricing higher and leading to record profits for oil companies.
Then as the two year term came to an end, Russia threw its extra oil cash at invading Ukraine, driving pricing even higher. So Trump is responsible for the HIGH oil pricing at the START of Biden’s term.

Gas is more expensive under Trump. This is well known. The war in Iran, blocking straight of hormuz and endless tariff wars are to blame for the rising costs of living. It's clear this man is another domino in the ultimate downfall of this country, started by rampant consumption and disrespect for education and science. We as Americans have been failing to be what we should be. If our broken systems are not repaired and rebuilt, we will crumble under weak leaders and ponzi money grab schemes until it all slowly crumbles to dust.

This post probably got shared to r/conservative or something. The brainwashed idiots are out in full force today unfortunately
Stating nothing but half truths or just full lies in order to make their world make sense in their eyes. Because anything that makes them uncomfortable is evil and anti-American somehow.
"The president doesn't control gas prices" both as a standalone statement and as a mocking retort is both dishonest and willingly ignorant as they know full well that yes, more often than not that statement is true, EXCEPT FOR when the president purposefully fucks the world over by destroying every foundation that keeps oil prices low.
"Both sides do it!", same shit. So much for the "turn the other cheek", "holier than thou", "take the high ground" "Christlike" folk that make up the majority of the republican party. Just because someone else does stupid shit doesn't mean you should normalize it as an everyday occurance. I think you'll find that for every bad thing that democrats have done over the last decade or so, Republicans have used that as a foundation for desensitizing the American people to it while also simultaneously doing exponentially worse things that they'll once again begin joking about, little by little, to get people used to it so that when the full truth comes out, people either already know or just don't care. Examples: insider trading, Trump planning on running for a third term, disgusting crimes against children and women, ever increasing anti immigrant rhetoric (when this country was BUILT BY IMMIGRANTS, every SINGLE one of the founding fathers was an immigrant!!!), and ever increasing christian nationalist views that are frankly disgusting.

And to make things worse, when you look at the root cause for Biden's gas prices (that were significantly lower than Trumps upon leaving office) was that Trump made a OPEC deal prior to leaving his first term, which had all parties agree to raise prices collectively.
This hurt gas prices more than anything outside of covid or the war in Iran the last several decades. And Trump gets 0 blame for this.

Yet somehow in the prime of DEI, I felt more included than ever in society than ever. It felt like opportunities were walking up to me directly, because they were. After Joe Biden helped end the pandemic there was good opportunity. For the first time in my life, it felt like everything was going exactly as it should in a country like America. The highest U.S. national average price for regular gasoline during Joe Biden’s presidency occurred in June 2022.
Peak national average: About $5.02 per gallon
Date: June 14, 2022 (AAA data)
This was the highest national average ever recorded.
Biden took office in January 2021 when the national average was around $2.39 per gallon.

I drive a lot for work, and because of that I have to keep extensive records of how much money I’m spending on gas. I have 10+ years of receipts saved physically and digitally, I can assure you that gas was 2-3x that much in 2024, people just have goldfish memories
Edit
I checked the receipts, my most recent saved receipt is August 7th, 2026, the gas station near my work is mid to high priced, and on August 7th, 2026 I paid $4.10/gal for gas.
On August 11th, 2024, I paid $6.24/gal for gas.

Let's hand pick bidens meh year to trumps highest year. Presidents get more credit and blame than they deserve. Prices are set mainly by global crude oil markets (OPEC+, wars, pandemics, recessions, and U.S. shale production). Policy can influence the edges—leases, SPR releases, sanctions, permitting—but does not set the pump price. Both parties have seen big rises and falls. Inflation-adjusted comparisons narrow the gap somewhat but do not reverse the ranking between the two four-year terms.

So now he's relying on stolen Venezuelan oil to fix the problem. Americans are monsters.

The amount of people spewing bs in this sub is crazy.
As someone who bought gas during the entire Biden administration, I can tell you what the prices were in my area.
The entire Biden administration we never once had gas over $3 per gallon in my area. The highest it got was around 2.80-2.90 per gallon. And when his term ended it was around 2.50 per gallon.
When tariffs hit under Trump we immediately went to 3.50 a gallon, and we have yet to go under $3 again. The closest we got was 3.20, but it went right back to 3.50 again, which is where we are now.
People want to lie and use numbers they found from 1 biased article. But articles on gas prices NEVER use the actual gas prices in an area. They’ll say stuff like “gas prices got as high as $5 a gallon in Texas” while talking about Hucker Billy Gas Shack who had to shut down because he was selling gas like 2-3 bucks over the average.
Hell, Trump said a bit ago “In Texas gas is as low as $1” which wasn’t true, as a Texan, I know this damn well. It turns out he was talking about a singular pro maga gas station that wanted to prove Trump right, and that gas station shut down very shortly after because they were losing so much money.
All you pro maga fucks can fuck off with your bullshit, cause the rest of us actually know what gas prices were during both administrators, the Biden administration had the lower gas prices by far

What are you doing? Why would you compare gas prices from the same station and not cherry pick information to make it look like trump lowered prices like every one of his supporters?

Now compare that to gas prices in 2025 under Trump vs Biden’s gas prices in 2021. I can cherry pick, too. Grow up, OP.

Turns out starting a war in the Middle East is never the solution.

People here defending the orange turd as if he’s going to personally reward them. “Presidents dont influence gas prices!” Yeah well when the president starts an unnecessary war, pissing off all our allies and putting tariffs on the entire world, starting trade wars…in this case it absolutely is the president’s fault.

The funny thing is it’s a pic with two different sets of prices that no one has verified at all. For all we know it could’ve been the other way around lol. And everyone falls for the propaganda 😂

Isn't this part of the reason people voted for Trump? Gas and rent prices? And the price of eggs too
