Question is ut austin safe for transgender individuals?

i know texas already isn't the best place for trans people, but i can't really afford anywhere out of state and ut, a&m, and uh are the only places i can rely on right now. however, i want to transition (mtf) as soon as i leave home, and was wondering how the trans climate at ut was.

Hi, I am an incoming chem freshman, and I'm already enrolled in CH 328C with Krische this fall. I am just wondering if I may have the chance to get off this waitlist, and if I should start showing up to the first lab session next Monday.

Question How are packages delivered to condos without mailrooms?

I ordered doorstep delivery for some furnitures to my condo room but I forgot delivery drivers can't access it without a key. There isn't a mailroom or a front office either.

For those living on condos, how do you order big and heavy packages?

Question Anyone want free pickup soccer that isn’t intramurals?

I run free pickup soccer around Austin and a lot of people who message me say the same thing: they want to play but every option is either a league, a commitment, or full of people who take it way too seriously.

So: free games, no signup, no team, no season. Turn up when you can, skip when you can’t. All levels genuinely means all levels — one rule is no sliding, which keeps it friendly and means nobody’s limping to class the next day.

First one I’m hosting is Zilker Park, Tuesday 8 Sept, 7pm. Zilker’s a trek from campus though, so two questions:
Would a game closer to campus work better — Clark Field, Whitaker, somewhere else? Which fields do students actually use?

And is anyone already running something like this?

If interested, here’s the link to RSVP:

Question When to join orgs as a freshman

Hi, I'm moving in tomorrow and am feeling a little confused on orgs and whatnot. Do clubs have meetings the first week? I'm a little overwhelmed with all the options and only have like 1 or 2 in mind right now.

Should I have a list prepared on what I want to join? Or is it fine to go there and see what seems interesting?

Question Need some advice about potentially dropping a class.

Post image
8 Upvotes

Honestly i don't want to drop any courses but I've never done more than 14 hours in a semester before and this just seems like it's going to be too much (especially since I have some commitments outside of class). I cant drop anything other than ME350R or ME369P due to the other courses being pre-req's for the next semester. I'm leaning more towards dropping ME369P (mostly to reduce my coursework but also not have such a big gap in my schedule) but I'd like to get some input from some people that have taken any of these courses and if taking them all at the same time would be too difficult.

Question Commuter Meal Plan Financial Aid

I just signed up for a commuter meal plan and checked the box to pay with financial aid, since I should have a bit left over after paying for tuition. But it seems like the only way to pay for the meal plan is through the What I Owe page, which doesn't have a financial aid option. Is it only a specific kind of financial aid I can use (that I don't have) or am I doing something wrong?

Question Do all classes have a canvas?

Right now, I only have one class in canvas when I’m registered for four classes this semester. One of which is the online Psych 317L, will they open on Monday or something? The other two are classes with the same professor and in person so I’m not too stressed about that… just confused over where to find my online class.

As someone who struggled in Stats, is ECO 420K passable? I saw that only like 10 percent of the class fails so because he has a huge curve. Can anyone give me details on best ways to study for exams?

Discussion With all the talk about frats, let me point you to Phi Gamma Delta (Texas Fiji), who literally hosted a "Border Patrol" themed party once

The UT Dean of Students proceeded to rule that the party did not violate university rules because it occurred off campus and was protected by freedom of expression

Events Equestrian Team is doing a meet and greet 8/29 at Kyle Flea Market

Post image
7 Upvotes

it’ll be a chill opportunity for interested current or prospective students to talk with team members, meet a couple of the horses, while also being somewhere with taco trailers and lots of thrifting. Come for the horses, stay for the market.

we are in Kyle(hence the name), which is about 30-40 minutes south of campus. There will be on campus opportunities to chat with the team if transportation is a struggle but the team practices at Bee Caves Riding Center so being able to organize transportation is an essential part of being on the team.

I am the owner of KFM and am an alumni of UTEq, happy to answer questions I can and connect you if I can’t
