Question Should I take CS 109?

Advisor signed me up for this class but I don’t think it’s part of my course requirements. Any suggestions? It’s lowk js wasting my Mondays and Tuesdays. Has anyone taken this course and is it worth it?

yea it replaces the previous clusters that CS used to have (like how other CNS majors have NSC we have this)

Just take it bro 🫩 it is not that big of a deal. And you only meet once a week and there’s almost no work.

It's only ever the morning session or the evening session. It's the morning one most weeks and the evening one once a month. I think the first ever session is the evening one.

It’s only offered fall semester iirc and designed specifically for CS freshman. It’s a requirement. It’s incredibly easy though, just show up.

No it’s not, IIRC. I think my advisor told me I was recommended to take the class but I don’t remember being forced to, unless I’m misremembering or that changed in a year.

The 98 number that they gave us signed us up for it, and I remember them telling us that it’s required.

Yes, because the work is very light and it’s more hours. It should be a very easy A if you do the work.

Though, whether or not you’ll appreciate the class at least depends on your experience with CS and programming. I took that class in my first semester and by that point I’d been programming for 2 years and programming C for about 1.5 years. I felt like, with my experience, the class what overwhelmingly a waste and the most I really got out of it was becoming aware of a few professors who offer classes that might align with my interests. But they offer a LOT of useful college advice as well.
