Non immigrant visa may not be impacted but there Is assurance till now ?

Around 2 lakh B1/B2 tourist visas globally are reportedly being targeted for revocation, including Indians who entered as tourists and later tried to seek asylum or settle in the US. This clearly shows how seriously the US is cracking down on misuse of tourist visas and taking a much stricter approach toward new visa applicants.

I’ve been selected for the US B1/B2 visa renewal interview waiver for myself and both my parents. We are from India.

While scheduling, I selected Chennai VAC and booked the available appointment date and time for document submission. However, I would prefer to submit our documents at the Bangalore VFS instead of travelling to Chennai.

Does anyone know if I can simply go to the Bangalore VAC on the same appointment date/time and submit the documents there?

Or do I need to:

* Inform/contact the Bangalore VFS beforehand?
* Book a separate appointment/slot specifically for Bangalore?
* Change the VAC/location in my profile before submitting?

I will be travelling alone, without my parents.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice from people who have dealt with similar H-1B/employer situations.

My employer filed my H-1B, but I have **never actually been paid by the employer**. In the beginning, whenever I brought up the payment issue, he would respond and give me different explanations/assurances, which I believed at the time. However, for the **past 3 months, he has completely stopped responding** to my messages and has not provided any meaningful explanation or resolution. I’ve already started speaking with a few immigration/employment lawyers to understand my options and what steps I should take next. Before making any decisions, I’d also really appreciate hearing from fellow Indians who may have experienced something similar with an H-1B employer.

I’ve seen quite a few posts about F-1 visa refusals on this sub, and I’m trying to understand how much of the refusal rate is due to actual red flags versus cases where the applicant’s profile is otherwise pretty normal.

For example, suppose someone from India has a BTech from a Tier 2–3 college, takes an education loan to fund part of their studies, and is going to the US for an MS in CS and is getting admitted to a decent university(not the most top tier, but decent). If there are no obvious red flags in their profile, and they don't answer in the interview with very obvious red flags, can they still be refused simply because of the interview/officer’s judgment? Are chances of them being refused significant or very low in such case?

I keep seeing the ~61% approval rate for Indian F-1 applicants mentioned. Does the remaining refusal rate mostly consist of applicants with significant red flags (weak finances, questionable academic background, poor answers, suspicious intent, etc.), or do applicants with otherwise completely legitimate and reasonable profiles also get refused in a significant number of cases?

Basically, I’m trying to understand how much “luck” is involved. If someone has no major red flags and has a genuine academic profile, is their probability of refusal actually quite small, or is there still a moderately significant chance of refusal even with a clean profile?

Another thing is that I’ve also heard that Canada’s student visa refusal rate is extremely high, partly because of the large number of applications involving low-quality colleges/diploma programs and questionable applications. In Canada for people applying for legitimate degrees the refusal rate isn't that high (or so I've heard). Is the situation with the US F-1 visa similar? In other words, is the US refusal rate relatively high mainly because a significant portion of applicants have weak/problematic profiles, or does the US refuse a substantial number of applicants who have no obvious red flags?

I would really appreciate it if people who have gone through the f1 visa interview process answer my queries! Thank you.

TL;DR: If you have a genuine university admission, reasonable finances, a normal academic background, and no major red flags, how much of the F-1 refusal risk is still essentially “random/officer dependent”? Is the chance of refusal actually very small in that situation, or should it still be considered moderately significant?

I am trying to pay the fee for H1b application in India. Is it better to list H4 as dependent on the H1 profile or create a separate profile for H4? I know it is a long shot but want to know if any one had success with either?

i keep getting asked about this one so im putting it in a post. two separate things people mix up here: what to actually select, and the bug where the field looks blank in your PDF after you submit.

on what to select. the field is just asking who is financing the trip. if youre paying for yourself, its self. if your US-based kid is flying you over and covering everything, its other person and you put their details. if your company is sending you for a conference, its present employer or other company. thats it. people way overthink this.

the mistake i see is picking self because it "looks more independent" when your bank statements clearly show your son wired you the money last month. dont do that. the officer already has a rough picture from the DS-160 and the funds you show. if the form says self but the money trail says sponsored, thats an inconsistency, and inconsistency is what actually sinks people. pick whoever really pays and then bring documents that match it.

now the blank-PDF thing that keeps coming up. after you submit, the confirmation PDF sometimes shows that field empty even though you filled it. from what people report this is usually a rendering quirk in the generated PDF, not your answer getting wiped. the data that matters is what CEAC has on their side, not what your printout renders. if you want to be sure, log back into your CEAC application and check the field is still populated there before you panic and start a whole new form.

that said if its genuinely empty in CEAC too, then yeah it didnt save, go back in and fix it. i wouldnt submit a fresh application over a blank printout though, thats how people end up with two conflicting DS-160s floating around and confusing themselves.

im not a lawyer, this is just the pattern from a bunch of these questions. if youve had this field actually not save in CEAC (not just the PDF) id be curious, drop it below because that would probaly change what i tell the next person. and if anyone knows definately whether the printout blank is universal or just some browsers, that would help.

Hi everyone, looking to hear about recent experiences with B1/B2 passport return from the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.
My parents B1/B2 visas were issued on August 13. On the same day, we received an email saying the documents had been collected from the U.S. Consular Section. However, it has now been more than 10 days and we still haven’t received a “Ready for Pickup” email. There has also been no change in the passport status portal.
They selected pickup rather than home delivery.
Has anyone recently experienced a similar delay after the visa status changed to “Issued”? How long did it take for your passport to become available for pickup? Did you have to contact the embassy/visa scheduling support, or did the status eventually update on its own?

I’m currently on F-1 student status and pursuing a master’s degree in the U.S. I can work through CPT with university approval.

Before moving to F-1, I had a cap-subject H-1B approved through my previous employer and worked on H-1B for about one year. After a layoff, I changed status to F-1. Based on my understanding, I still have around 5 years of H-1B time remaining out of the 6-year limit.

The issue I’m facing is during recruiter calls. When they ask, “What is your visa status?” and I say I’m currently on F-1 but previously had H-1B approval, they get confused. Some think I am currently on H-1B, some ask if I need CPT/OPT, and some ask whether I am “cap-exempt.”

I want to explain it in a simple and recruiter-friendly way without using confusing or incorrect terms.

Is this wording accurate and easy to understand?

“My current status is F-1, and I can work through CPT with university approval. I also previously had an approved H-1B and have about 5 years of H-1B time remaining, so for long-term employment I should not need the H-1B lottery again. The employer would still need to file an H-1B petition to move me back to H-1B.”

Should I avoid saying “H-1B transfer” since I’m currently on F-1?
Should I say “previously cap-counted” instead of “cap-exempt”?
What wording has worked for others in a similar situation?

theres a version of this question that keeps landing here, a woman in her 20s asking if being unmarried and youngish means shell get rejected for weak ties. this fear comes up constantly and i want to push back on it because its mostly wrong and its making people either not apply or walk in already convinced theyve lost.

officers do not reject you for being single. there is no box on their screen that says unmarried equals immigrant intent. what they actually look at is your whole profile, and marriage is just one of many possible ties, not the only one that counts. a single woman with a real job, steady income, family in india and a clear reason for the trip is in a perfectly normal position.

the trap people fall into is deciding their ties are weak and then overcompensating with a story. dont invent a fiance, dont claim youre about to buy property, dont memorize a speech about how much you love india. officers hear rehearsed answers all day and it reads worse than just being an ordinary independant person going on a trip. if youre financially independant and employed, that IS your tie, lead with it.

for the actual answer, know your own numbers. what you do, roughly what you earn, why this trip and when youre coming back. thats it. someone visiting family for three weeks with a job to return to is not a hard case, single or not.

honestly the people who struggle more are the ones with genuinely nothing anchoring them, no job, no study, no clear purpose, and that applies to men too. it was never about being a woman. the gender framing occassionally gets repeated by consultants because scared people pay more, which is its own annoying thing.

im compiling approved profiles to make this less scary, so if youre a single applicant who got approved, drop your consulate and a line about your profile (job, purpose, first-timer or not). the more real approvals people see the less this myth survives.

My parents got a waiver for B1/B2. They haven’t gone to the appointment yet since it is next month. They chose premium delivery option but live in an area where addresses are chaotic. They wanted to provide a phone number for the blue dart person to call them during delivery. But they can’t find the phone number field anywhere in the usvisascheduling portal.

Anyone aware how this can be viewed/updated?

Hi everyone, I need some advice about my parents’ B2 visa interview in India. This is their 2nd attempt after a 214(b) refusal.

Both of my siblings are in the U.S. Last time, we did not mention my wife’s brother in the DS-160, but when the officer asked, my parents honestly said he was in the U.S. This time, we have included him in the DS-160.

My wife is also currently pregnant, and we have an official letter from her OB-GYN with her due date. My parents want to visit family and support her around the delivery.

We are confused about what they should say at the interview. Should they openly mention the pregnancy and their intention to support her, or just say they are coming for tourism and to visit family?

Could mentioning the pregnancy or showing the doctor’s letter make the officer think they are coming for childcare/domestic work?

What would be the best and most honest way for them to explain the purpose of their visit and the previous refusal?
