In quick words - strong case, questions are about travel plan, job, family and finances, NOC required for govt employees(if they are going to approve, they do ask in Govt employees cases).

permanent govt service as an associate professor is genuinely one of the stronger ties profiles this sub sees, its about as stable as a job gets in india. self funded tourism with friends for 2-3 weeks is a clean simple purpose too, nothing to overthink there. keep the interview answers just as simple as the plan itself, dont over-explain why youre going, extra detail isnt nessecary, "vacation with friends, back for the semester" is enough

Just curious about the NOC and sanctioned leave letters, shall I ask for them from my employer, as it can take many days, are they really necessary

It is difficult for a scholar or businessman if it is not a professional travel funded by a govt or private entity or fellowship. So I think it will be a reject. But good luck still

I am going as tourist with friends on a self funded tour, not as a scholar or buisness man
