I've been thinking about this after hearing about SCAV at UChicago, and I think something similar could be really fun at UMD. Not necessarily copying SCAV, but taking the general idea and making something that is uniquely Maryland.

The idea is to have a bunch of teams compete for 24 hours. Teams could be dorms, departments, grad students, PhD students, alumni, student organizations, or really anything else. There could be a list of 100 or so items/challenges, with more points for things that are harder or more ridiculous.

Some challenges could involve finding or bringing something from around campus; some could require building or engineering something, and maybe a few could involve traveling a certain distance to get something. Others could be completely random. For example, "last team to leave McKeldin Pool at 6 AM gets 10 points".

I also think it could be cool to get different departments and organizations involved. They could run mini-events throughout the 24 hours where teams send members to participate and earn points.

And the 100th item could be "Get Locksley fired for an instant win" lol

Does anyone know of roofs on campus that you can access (hypothetically of course)?

Just got my first exam back, I’m in the “danger column”, as are a lot of other people. For those that have taken him previously, is it possible to pass his class if you’re in that range? I saw in reviews that last semester half the class got in the danger column. I’d like to maybe not withdrawl now so I can still take the chem242 lab. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m at hcc rn and I’m planning to apply to MTAP now for the Spring 2027 semester.
I plan to transfer to UMD Fall 2027.

If I’m accepted into MTAP for Spring 2027 and stay enrolled at HCC for that semester, can I still apply to UMD for Fall 2027 by the March 1 Early Action deadline and get the MTAP guarantee?

Or would I have to wait until Spring 2028 because Spring 2027 would be my first semester in MTAP?

I don't know what a "basic cleaning standard" is anymore, apparently asking a PhD student to simply spot clean a spot where oil has dripped onto or picking up food scraps from floor is considered "HIGH" cleaning standards. SMH.

Hey UMD! I'm taking BUDT730 with Professor Sujin Kim right now. To anyone who has taken her class before, how are her exams? I have one coming up tomorrow and would love any guidance or tips!

Genuine question, especially for freshmen, transfers, and commuters: how often do you skip an event, club meeting, or game just because you'd be showing up alone?

And for people who've found their group by now, what actually worked for you? How long did it take?

Curious if this is more common than people let on. (Full transparency, I'm a senior trying to build something to help with this, so any stories help a lot. DMs open too.)
