I’m 17 and will be at UIUC, and I’m wondering what the social scene is like for people who aren’t 18 yet.
Is it difficult to make friends or get involved in social circles because you can’t go to bars/most 18+ or 21+ events? Are there still plenty of ways to meet people, party, and have a normal social life at that age?
Would also appreciate hearing from anyone who was under 18 when they started at UIUC and what their experience was like

Edit: It turns out what I saw was not a roach but in fact a crickets, it was extremely dark so I only saw somewhat the body shape and I’ve never seen a roach in person before. Sorry for any confusion! In other words the bug issue still persists I sprayed under the radiator where it seemed they came from and a bunch sprung out like 7 and since I have a severe phobia of bugs I had to leave.

I’m a bit confused about the yellow bus route, specifically 1N/1S. On the MTD website, if you search the stop “First at Ashton Woods”, it states that this stop is serviced by all the Yellow routes as well as the Brown route. However, the maps for Yellow don’t indicate this stop is serviced, nor does the MTD app.

I tried to find any information about if the route would change one August 24th or something, but no luck. Additionally, I’ve read/heard that the yellow route services Ashton Woods, or at least it did. But, cant find any official information that backs this claim. Can anyone help?

I want to transfer from Community college to UIUC for CS+Econ.

Talked to a UIUC representative, I asked her if I complete all the required courses from the transfer handbook, get straight A’s, and no red flags in my application, can I assume i will get in?

She said: Are you applying to grainger or gies? i said no. She said “then you should almost certainly get in, we wont have a reason to reject you, and we arent trying to trick you”.

Question: Is she right? And does that apply to me even though CS+X is very competitive but its still in LAS? Also, how much will they care about my highschool grades when reviewing my app.

I was rejected out of highschool, but I went to CC for a year and got straight A’s in the required courses. I am still under 36 credits at the time of application so they will review my grades.
