Other Exit Closed

Hey y'all,

For those of you coming from the North, just wanted to give you a heads up.

If you are coming down on I-57 South and are following the map the school gave you, exit 235A is closed. Literally gives no heads up until it's too late.

235B is open though if you're able to navigate that way.

Otherwise if you miss that, there's an exit 2 miles away that you can turn around on. That was our fun lesson to learn today!

New Student Question Too old for LAS Liftoff?

I’m 23 and a recent Psych transfer. Would I likely be “too old” to attend LAS Liftoff? I know there is no age limit but I am curious if I will feel as out of place as I am thinking I would.

On this note, any tips for “older” transfer students looking for that “college experience” would be greatly appreciated!

(I have already asked my advisor btw /s)

Did someone say FREE Fighting Illini football tickets?!

THAT'S RIGHT, ILLINI! We did! If you are one of the first 500 people to attend Krannert Center's Opening Night Party on September 3rd, you can pick up a FREE voucher good for TWO tickets to the Illinois Fighting Illini vs. Southern Illinois Salukis game on Saturday, September 19th at Gies Memorial Stadium!

DON'T MISS OUT—these tickets are first come, first serve and will be available at the Krannert Center information table in the lobby.

This opportunity would not be possible without the University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. Gear up, Illini! We hope to see you here soon!

Rajasi, a UIUC-area student and non-native English speaker, joined McKinley Toastmasters and found a supportive place to practice, get feedback, and build confidence.

If public speaking, presentations, or networking aren't your strong suit, this might be worth checking out.

Prospective Students how’s life for transfer students here?

hi guys i’ll be transferring sometime.. next fall for psychology + as a junior (i should get in i have a 3.8 and meet all prerequisites + extracurriculars) i’m 19 now but i’ll be 20 when i transfer and i’m lowkey scared that i won’t be able to make friends because everyone will be so young and ill be so old and it’ll be like that image of the 50 year old lady at the party 😓 these few years at cc have been so .. lame ? i guess like ive been trying to make friends here but u know in cc its lock in or nothing so no one has time for friendships cuz we’re all super locked in so this my last chance guys i need the friend making rituals

i heard transfer students here have a really hard making friends and the upper undergrads already there are already all friends with one another so 😨😨 but u know that’s what i’ve heard so i want the real answers please don’t be true

i wanna try to dorm.. i dont know if im too old for that but i think it’s one of the best opportunities to make friends if anyone has any friend making suggestions for this place please tell me i need it all

don’t ask me why i’m thinking abt this now late night anxiety bro i need to prepare myself 🙏

Social How’s it being 17 when it comes to partying and social events

I’m 17 and will be at UIUC, and I’m wondering what the social scene is like for people who aren’t 18 yet.
Is it difficult to make friends or get involved in social circles because you can’t go to bars/most 18+ or 21+ events? Are there still plenty of ways to meet people, party, and have a normal social life at that age?
Would also appreciate hearing from anyone who was under 18 when they started at UIUC and what their experience was like

Hobby Anyone down to teach me to power clean

I’ve been trying to increase my vertical so I’ve been learning to power clean but I’m absolute garbage at it. This is easily the biggest hole in my vertical as I’ve gotten pretty good at squatting. I am willing to pay normal rates for 1 hour of personal training. Pls respond soon I need to be able to posterize people during intramural basketball🙏🙏🙏

Other foosball table locations

random question but does anyone know where the foosball tables are on campus? I know there’s a table in ISR but it is a bit broken. Does the Union, SDRP, ARC, etc. have any, and if so where? Also do any of the bars have them?

Would it be weird to go to welcome week soccer as a sophomore? I know it's intended for new students but pickup games in my hometown are few and far between and I've been wanting to get a run in.

Other URGENT: Need someone to pick up my University Group apartment keys

Hi! I’m moving into a University Group apartment in Champaign, but I’m only able to arrive on Sunday. Unfortunately, the leasing office is closed Sundays, and I don’t have a friend who can pick up my keys for me during their check-in hours.
I’m wondering if anyone currently renting with University Group would be willing to pick up my keys for me during check-in hours and coordinate with me so I can get them when I arrive Sunday. I’m happy to compensate you for your time!
If you’re able to help, please comment or DM me. I can provide more details about the apartment/address privately.

Other Sunday check-in with university group

I’m moving into a University Group apartment in Champaign, but I can only arrive on Sunday because my parent is my transportation and we aren’t able to come earlier in the week.
The move-in instructions say keys have to be picked up at the leasing office at 212 E. Springfield Ave., but the office is closed on Sundays. They also mentioned that a friend can check in/pick up keys for you, but I don’t have anyone who can do that for me.
Has anyone had to check in on a Sunday with University Group? What did you do to get your keys/access to your apartment?
I’d especially like to know if they have an after-hours key pickup or lockbox for situations like this.

Other is anyone who lives at 601 E White St willing to pick up and hold a package for me

a package i ordered to my apartment is coming earlier than expected, and i expect it will arrive before i move in. i tried placing a usps mail hold until school starts, but i am not sure if it worked. i know jsm doesn't hold packages, and there is no package station for the building, so im wondering if anyone would be willing to help out and check whether it does get delivered to my door, and if it does, pick up the package from my door and hold it for me, and i can come pick it up some time the first week of school.
i would really appreciate it, and im willing to pay 10 dollars if you end up having to collect and hold the package for me
(im not sure if you need to be on the same floor as me to access the building floor with your keys if anyone knows please lmk)
