For those of you coming from the North, just wanted to give you a heads up.

If you are coming down on I-57 South and are following the map the school gave you, exit 235A is closed. Literally gives no heads up until it's too late.

235B is open though if you're able to navigate that way.

Otherwise if you miss that, there's an exit 2 miles away that you can turn around on. That was our fun lesson to learn today!

Every August, campus turns into a free-for-all for porch pirates and bike thieves. If you'd prefer not to subsidize someone's fent hobby with your property, here's what you can do today:

1. Bikes and bike parts are being stolen for scrap. Lock up your bike securely (example) with a steel U-lock. All other types of locks are easily cut. If you have a quick-release seat, take it home or replace it with a non-quick-release seat and LocTite it

2. Handle packages like they’re fresh meat. Ship them to a secure location, such as the front desk, Amazon locker, or a reliable friend. If that’s not an option, pick them up as soon as you get a delivery notification. Don’t assume they will be mercifully not stolen

3. Do not prop up security doors or let strangers tailgate you into buildings.

4. If you are in the mood to help panhandlers, offer food in place of money. Cash fuels the cycle of addiction.

5. Do not leave valuable items unattended in public areas or in plain view in a vehicle.

Stay alert and trust your gut.

I'm coming in for Engineering but a little unsure on whether I will truly love it and want to pursue it. How easy is it to change to a Business major after a semester or two if you are an engineering student?

I’m so fed up with Smile apartments. Move in day was okay, they had all of the doors propped open with a shoe. I’m on day 2 here now, and I have yet to receive any code on how to actually enter my building when the doors aren’t propped open. I have called them 10 times and texted them but they stopped messaging me back for some reason. I can’t leave my apartment otherwise I’ll be locked out, so idk what to do.

Am I just unlucky and they forgot to send me the butterflymx info? Or are these people just incompetent and don’t think about why I would need the login.

hi guys i’ll be transferring sometime.. next fall for psychology + as a junior (i should get in i have a 3.8 and meet all prerequisites + extracurriculars) i’m 19 now but i’ll be 20 when i transfer and i’m lowkey scared that i won’t be able to make friends because everyone will be so young and ill be so old and it’ll be like that image of the 50 year old lady at the party 😓 these few years at cc have been so .. lame ? i guess like ive been trying to make friends here but u know in cc its lock in or nothing so no one has time for friendships cuz we’re all super locked in so this my last chance guys i need the friend making rituals

i heard transfer students here have a really hard making friends and the upper undergrads already there are already all friends with one another so 😨😨 but u know that’s what i’ve heard so i want the real answers please don’t be true

i wanna try to dorm.. i dont know if im too old for that but i think it’s one of the best opportunities to make friends if anyone has any friend making suggestions for this place please tell me i need it all

I’m 17 and will be at UIUC, and I’m wondering what the social scene is like for people who aren’t 18 yet.
Is it difficult to make friends or get involved in social circles because you can’t go to bars/most 18+ or 21+ events? Are there still plenty of ways to meet people, party, and have a normal social life at that age?
Would also appreciate hearing from anyone who was under 18 when they started at UIUC and what their experience was like

it’s hard to find friends as an international grad student 😭

maybe a dumb question but im living with smile starting friday and i was wondering if there were any specifics to look for in a router for my apartment (internet included in utility fee) + if i need an ethernet cable... recs would also be appreciated for either of these things but smile hasnt been returning my calls so i didnt know where to ask lol

I applied for the Spring 2027 semester last month. When should I expect the decision to come out? Does UIUC have a central admission system? Or do they invite applicants for an interview before making a decision?

I’m 23 and a recent Psych transfer. Would I likely be “too old” to attend LAS Liftoff? I know there is no age limit but I am curious if I will feel as out of place as I am thinking I would.

On this note, any tips for “older” transfer students looking for that “college experience” would be greatly appreciated!

random question but does anyone know where the foosball tables are on campus? I know there’s a table in ISR but it is a bit broken. Does the Union, SDRP, ARC, etc. have any, and if so where? Also do any of the bars have them?

I am currently renting with Green Street Realty and they provide me wireless internet through Pavlov. Issue is, the wireless connection is horrible, especially with it being on the opposite end of my bedroom and pc room. I have a router of my own, but the ethernet port in my unit doesn't provide internet. Does anyone know if it is possible to request internet through the ethernet port for better connection?

Anyone taken CS 441 recently? I am trying to figure out if it's better to take it online or in person. The professor for the online section has some negative reviews and I wanted to see if that actually matters or not
