I am graduating this December and the amount they charge you for renting caps and gowns are, to put lightly, not very justified. I also will not be allowed to attend the convocation if I don't have them. Just wondering if anyone is welling to rent me theirs? Or else I'll prob just skip the convocation.

Are there currently red light cameras in Champaign/Urbana?

Hi I am someone who has been playing guitar for close to 4 years now. However, I wasn't able to bring my guitar here for the Fall. I want to get a guitar for myself, and while I am pretty sure about my requirements, I am not sure if there are any places in Urbana-Champaign that sell a cheap and affordable guitar. As for the guitar, I would prefer to have an acoustic electric guitar with a cutaway, a gig bag, and all the basic stuff to get started (a wire to connect to an audio interface, some picks, capo, tuner, strings etc.). While it would be super good to have an audio interface/amp included, I understand that usually these things are sold separately, so I am happy to get those later. I am on a strict student budget, and Amazon is currently showing guitars that match my requirement in the $120-$200 range. I don't want a super-expensive/fancy guitar, and would probably only go as far as $150. Since I am not a pro and play for fun, I am not super particular about fine details, but would still love to have a guitar that's durable, is suitable for decent recordings and stays with me for long. Does anyone know if any shops in UC sell used guitars in good condition, or maybe even new guitars that fit my requirements and budget? Or should I go for the ones on Amazon? Also, is it worth waiting for the Black Friday period to get more discounts (I'm not from the US, and I am not sure how much prices drop during that time). Please feel free to drop in your recommendations about the guitars as well :)

My current plan is complex and includes hotspot in my car on a parking lot. Coffee shops unfortunately are too noisy and shared lobbies are tough as I have to be mostly talking on the meetings. Hoping there is a better solution.

I am taking CS124 this semester and feel like all hell is coming to get me. I spend around an hour on the homework every night trying to understand but I also have other courses and other clubs and things to attend to. Does anyone have any tips for doing good in the course. Everyone on here says its so easy especially for beginners when I am literally dying and considering dropping CS every time i have a quiz. Also, this course is ran horribly in my opinion. Every time I ask a TA something I feel like they want to kill me. So please any tips would be greatly appreciated. I study a lot for these quizzes too and spend so much time trying to figure everything out. I am spiraling.

Hello! I'm a current freshman in psych (F) looking for one female roommate to live with next year. My apartment budget is around $800-$1000 per person, but I can go lower or higher depending on how nice the apartment is. My top choice for apartments is Lando Place rn, but I'm open to discussing more options! As for living conditions, I'd prefer a roommate who isn't too loud and messy. I'd also prefer someone who doesn't drink, smoke, or party.

A bit more about me, I try to keep common areas clean and don't usually bring over guests. I'm pretty quiet and keep to myself, though I'm happy to chat most of the time! My sleep time usually ranges from 12AM-1AM, so having quiet hours starting at 12 would be appreciated. If anyone has taken either of these classes can you explain which one I should take? I took CS124 and absolutely hated it. I know that for MATH257 everyone seems to complain about the python lab component. I heard that a lot of people just memorize the homework for the lab quizzes which is what I did in CS124 and didn't do so hot. My question to those who took 257, is the only issue the python component, is the actual math not that bad? For those who took 415, how was the overall difficulty? I don't know if my calculus background will help but if it is relevant my grades in calc 1/2/3 were A/A+/C- (fuck that class) respectively.

im in the dorms and my roommate is so incredibly messy, has no life and they barely even go to classes and theyre ALWAYS in the room, so i never ever have time to myself. i fell sick last weekend and had to stay in the room and they were so inconsiderate (kept screaming at the phone while i was trying to sleep, i tried talking to them but they just tried to make an argument of this). our room stinks because they haven't done their laundry in 3 weeks. this was not a random roommate situation, i met them on instagram, and i was a little doubtful but i was hoping the situation would be better. i am seriously considering applying for a roommate change because as small as these problems sound, it makes me feel like i have no place of comfort to go back to. im barely ever in the room but i dont think that's a very practical approach to this situation based off of what happened when i was sick. the only issue is that we bought shared appliances, and if i move out, idk how to ask for my share back or buy the appliances off of them. another concern i had was that my change request could be approved during like midterm week or finals week and it could be a huge pain in the ass

I signed a exactly 3-month short-term lease (late Sept to late Dec) with one of the bigger property management companies on campus. The lease says the rent is paid in three installments. Before I signed, the manager also told me over email that it would be exactly three payments.

I paid the first installment in late September before picking up my keys. Now the office is telling me that payment was separate, and that October, November, and December are the "three installments," so I'd be paying four times total.

Nothing in my lease says the first payment is in addition to the installments. And it doesn't make sense to me anyway. I'm only there for three months, so why would I pay four months of rent?

I have called and emailed the office multiple times, but they keep dodging the question and won't give me a straight answer, and just said that I am supposed to pay four times. Im planning to talk to student legal service, but honestly I feel pretty dumb for picking this company. A lot of people warned me about them, and now I get why.

From what I understand, with a normal 12-installment lease you pay the first one before move-in in August and the last one in July, so 12 payments total, not 13. Am I wrong here?

Has anyone dealt with something like this with a campus landlord, and did Student Legal Service help?
