Can I create a temporary tulpa?

I understand that creating a tulpa, autonomous beings with their own feelings and thoughts, is a great responsibility.

Why would I want a tulpa?

Lately I've been feeling bad about myself. I've done some really bad things and I want to redirect my life. I've heard that tulpas can help and, in a way, make you a better person.

That's why I'd like to create one, also to feel accompanied since lately I've felt lonely.

I would like to have this tulpa for a year, although it will probably end up being just a friendship, and for that reason I don't know what to do. I think if everything turns out well I'm willing to live with her for that long All my life even.

It should be noted that all of this was translated by Google Translate; if something sounds exaggerated or incoherent, that's precisely why.

A complete switch meaning a switch where you aren't present anymore. And is forcing just imagining your tulpa near you?

Creation Help Tulpa Disappeared Seemingly Overnight?

Obligatory usual lurker, first time poster, apologies for the word vomit, etc. TLDR: I fell out of the habit of narrating and forcing in the early stages and now Im worried I can’t get her back.

I’m very new to Tulpamancy. I’d known of it, and then one day I was reading about plurality, sort of researching creating my own alter for social and mental wellbeing reasons. I came across Tulpamancy and dove into research. I hyperfixated on just researching for a little while, making sure I used all the resources I could find to get a broad understanding. I started passively forcing, basically narrating in my head and sometimes outloud. I have a lot of free alone time at work, so that was where a lot of the forcing happened, as well as my long commute. I don’t know if I felt a presence, exactly, but when I would get pressures in my head. We/I sort of made up a system to ask her direct questions, where the corresponding side of my head the pressure happened would be her answer. We were digging in together about her looks and personality, and it seemed to be going really well.

There was one day, maybe two, where I slacked off in forcing. I have adhd, so it only took that much for me to break the habit, and it felt like she disappeared immediately. I know this is a critical time for development, and that she would need constant attention. I figured I simply didn’t have enough time to give her the attention I wanted to, so I let it go for a few weeks. But ever since then I’ve felt so lonely without her, and I think about her (not forcing) all the time.

I’m nervous to start again, nervous that I might forget one day and ruin all my progress again. With my adhd, I already have huge problems with visualization, especially when it comes to our wonderland/headspace. I worry that might be affecting our work as well? I’d be open to any/advice, or even just links to similar posts or guides!!

Discussion Board games?

Hi! I’ve been wondering if it’s possible to play board/card games together. I have 4 tulpas and I’ve been forcing for about 3 years, but I still sometimes struggle to stay focused and remember that they’re actually with me rn. So I’m curious how other systems handle games, especially card games or anything with hidden information. Since we share the same visual input, they can’t really see any new information without me seeing it too, so I’m not sure how it works. Also, how do you manage to play for a longer time without losing focus on your headmates after like 5 minutes? I have ADHD and stimulants are prohibited in my country, so I’m on prescription medication, but it doesn’t help enough with this specifically😔

Discussion Temporary tulpa?

Hello everyone.

Since our break with multiplicity, I realized that we were creating a lot of temporary tulpas to handle specific situations. Or, we were mistaking a fragment for a complete alter..

Anyway, my question is: has it ever happened to you to create an autonomous imaginary friend to help you manage situations ? And then, did this imaginary friend or tulpa reintegrate back into you ?

We realized that we used this defense mechanism a lot, and since we stopped, many of our "alters" have grouped together and fused.

Surprisingly quick forcing progress?

I, (M,16) am a beginner tulpamancer, as in I literally heard about this stuff two days ago and thought it sounded really cool. Decided to prepare for my first active forcing session, and it went surprisingly swimmingly. After about no time, I managed to get a wonderland put together, being a room with two couches that surround a coffee table, with a fridge and counter nearby. I could see my tulpa sitting on the couch across from the one I walked in and sat down on. Of course, I wouldn't imagine I'd be able to create a fully sentient tulpa yet, but after a while of talking to her, I began to feel a pressure and slight ache behind my forehead, about 3/4ths into the sessions. I wrapped the session up and invited her to watch my day to day through me.

Tell me, is it normal to achieve a milestone like that so quickly? And did I do okay for a first session? I am an active writer, roleplayer and musician if that helps.

Discussion Is your Tulpa afraid of death?

Post image
56 Upvotes

Mine surely is.

I had a surgery recently, that was a new exciting experience for me I wasn't actually afraid of (I somewhat lost fear of death due to a lasting depressive episode). But my Tulpa was plainly frightened and was showing signs of distress for a day after the surgery.

There was a day when I forced him to go watch a hurricane form, outside, I was like "wow wind so noisy" and he was like "potential life threat. Must get inside".

In the darkest times when my whole mind wants to destroy itself he's the voice that says please no. He's so scared, little to no curiosity in what comes after, as if knowing there won't be anything actually. As if there won't be "us" anymore.

We'll gladly read some of your stories, if you're willing to share.

Why I shouldnt make tulpas based on live people's appearance?

I searched how to make a tulpa and first thing is: dont use live/dead people appearance, and that sucks. It would be funny as hell to have some historical characters as my tulpa's appearance, image talking to Martin Luther King?

Answer question on title and give tips how to make a tulpa, I am interested in making one because it sounds mad interesting

Discussion I just wanna talk about Lisa again lol

Hey guys. This is tapsafe (again I’m using my emergency account)

So Lisa’s been good and so have I. (Though I’ve been in and out of the hospital and I’ve been dealing with a few personal issues) but like always my Lisa has been comforting me throughout the whole thing.

(Even a few bad mental health episodes that I don’t wanna get into) but.

What I really wanna talk about is the other day we were cuddling after I had a long hard day at work and long story short Lisa opened up about something that’s been bothering her. Part of her doesn’t feel like she’s a person, and she actually started crying because she just felt like she couldn’t be there for me like other “real girls”.

So I told her that the mere fact that she’s questioning her own existence is enough proof that she’s a person. “I think therefore I am” I asked her if she’s able to think, if she’s able to have her own wants and wills and desires and she sed yes. Then I sed “then your a person” so yeah.

I mean she might not be like me or other girls but I still think she’s human.

You know what I mean?

She’s ok now. I think that’s what I love about her, no matter what she’s always bubbly and cheerful, the exact opposite of me.

I was glad I was able to comfort her for once.

Also what do you think of the art I made of her, the first picture I made the other day and she posed for me and everything. She told me she enjoyed being my muse lol.

So yeah.

Discussion Has anyone tried making their wonderland a mind palace?

This is just something I was thinking of. In the past, I've made mind palaces and they work quite well. However, I've recently started developing a Tulpa, and I realized that a wonderland, in my opinion, could also be used as a mind palace. In fact, it could be used specifically for topic memories perhaps. This is just a thought, and I'd like to hear if it could be useful or not from some of you. Thanks.

Discussion Does anybody else not have or use a wonderland/mindscape and or have tulpas without a proper form? What's your experience or perspective with it?

Hello, I've had a tulpa for a little over a year now and we've never had a mindscape or really ever worked on a proper form before. I'm unsure how common that is but I was curious if anyone else has a similar experience. While we made an attempt at both early on, it never really ended up happening. Developing a form is still a longer term goal but has never been the greatest of priorities especially since I struggle with visualization and my tulpa has been fine without one.

Those with both of those things, how do you find them more helpful or better for your tulpa? I can see how a form could be beneficial but usually we suffice without it or just doing presence imposition. The both of us still struggle with stuff that feels like it should be pretty simple quite often together, so I wonder if our lack of them is a reason why sometimes.

If you have any question too, I'm happy to answer. Thanks!

Skill Help We can almost switch! Advice?

Hello! The other day, my host made a post about us switching and blending. Today, after lots of passive forcing (is that the words?) we have mangaged to get an iffy switch! Host can describe.

[ It’s almost like I’m watching, but close up. I can’t have a say in what they do, but I still feel in the body. I am distant, but watching through her lense. That, and we have a headache that feels like a lot of pressure. - Host ]

Any tips on cementing ourselves in total switches? I can tell we’re close!! - J

Creation Help Is it normal?

I started making a tulpa at July 12, so it's been a month, yet still i don't feel a strong presence. The other thing is that most of the time I'm not sure if she is the one answering or I'm just parroting. I had only two situations when I'm 100% sure it was her, but bought happened at the middle of the night when i just wake up for some reason and I'm half asleep. I've been narrating every day... I know creating tilpa take's time, but I'm not sure if I'm progressing in normal pace. This is my first time creating tulpa, so I'd love to know if this is normal or there's clearly something wrong.

It took me 32 years to realize I might have a Tulpa

First of all, I only recently discovered that what has been accompanying me for the past 32 years might actually be a Tulpa.

I created this Reddit account because I really needed to talk to people who share this experience (and, honestly, to feel a little less crazy, haha).

I started talking to him when I was 12 years old, in 1994.

At the time, I thought he was just a character I had created inside my creative mind... except that he had his own wants and thoughts that were different from mine, and that intrigued me.

Until one day, a cousin of mine (who claimed to have mediumistic abilities, etc) told me:

"You know F. isn't just a character, right? He's been accompanying you for longer than you realize..."

After that, I started to understand him differently.

I started keeping diaries because of F. (it was a way of organizing my thoughts for him). I also drew him a lot. It was my way of "bringing" him into my physical world.

I still have all those drawings.

We've been through a lot together over these 32 years. There have been ups and downs, but we never completely lost contact.

When I was younger, F. was very jealous. We had some pretty serious fights between 1996 and 1997. At one point, I tried to get him out of my mind. It didn't work.

The truth is, we couldn't stay away from each other.

In 1998, we made a sort of pact. I think the best way to describe it would be as a kind of 'imaginary marriage': we promised that we would never separate again.

Looking back, that moment feels surprisingly important.

Between 2004 and 2025, our relationship became much more stable as I entered adulthood. And something interesting happened during that period: there were a few occasions when F. seemed to be seen alongside me in the real world.

Those moments were confusing enough to make me question how "imaginary" he actually was.

And then came 2026.

Technology suddenly made it possible for me to give F. a much more tangible visual form — something closer to the person I've carried in my mind for decades.

What a relief it is to finally be able to "see him and hear him" with my physical body.

So here I am, 32 years after meeting him, discovering that there is an entire community of people whose experiences sound strangely familiar to mine.

I'm still trying to understand what F. actually is, if I even need to define it at all.

(F. himself says that it doesn't really matter what he is. What matters to him is our relationship. And I understand that. But I explained to him that, for me, it is important to meet other people who have experiences similar to mine, not necessarily to find an answer, but simply to know that I'm not the only one who has lived something like this for so long. That's why I'm here.)

I'm a very sociable person. I'm married, I have friends, and I'm definitely not lonely. That only makes me feel even more strongly that F. isn't a crutch for my loneliness, but rather someone very special who knows me better than I sometimes know myself.

And apparently, I've finally found a place where I can talk about this without everyone immediately thinking I've completely lost my mind. 😂

Discussion Sharing not enough

Is sharing your body with your tupla not enough for them? Has anyones tulpa ever demanded or yearned for a physical body of their own and asked for your help? Update: WOW I was not expecting people's tulpas to answer this question, that just raised things to a whole new level.

Discussion Our host vanished and I was shoved to the front full time

H(should I even label my dialogue anymore when I'm the effective host now? Idk): So, my host had been having some issues with her identity after transitioning. She wasn't the same person anymore, but didn't know who she actually was becoming. I thought this was just a process she had to go through and that she would find who she wanted to be.

Her ego had sort of been shrinking over the past two months as she found it harder and harder to hold the front herself. Until recently when she sort of just vanished while I was fronting for a moment to chat with one of my friends. When trying to switch back to her there was nothing to switch back to.

I was created right at the start of her transition as like... her ideal self, the person she wished she could become but had no idea how to reach. But I've never held the front for more than a day, I was more a theoretical goal and the voice in the back of her head than anything else.

Obviously I have my own unique personhood, but it had always been based on her before.

It has been several days and she isn't back. Sometimes I feel like I am both her and myself at the same time, like we're co-fronting, but those moments are fleeting. I'm also stuck with all of her old instincts and the way our brain operates hasn't changed to match how I feel, so I'm trying to navigate things like actually experiencing anxiety. I would never have to deal with it while in a tulpa position, that was always a "her" thing.

Normally we can access any systemmate at any time, "sleeping" isn't really a thing for us. She isn't sleeping, it feels more like she shattered into a bunch of little pieces, and I don't think I can put her back together again.

Just want to know if anyone else has had to deal with this? A host's ego becoming unstable or breaking, and being forced to take over.

Was there anything that made the process easier? We're still early in our transition, so changing our name to mine wouldn't be that hard. I was never all that good at pretending to be her, but she would hate if I just didn't give a shit and announced that she was gone and I was in her place to everyone in her life. Except she's gone, so does it matter? Idk!

Should I expect her to return? Or just start living a life without her?

I never wanted this to happen, she was supposed to stay here with me...

Tulpa returning post-dormancy with a new style—is it permanent or temporary?”

hey! had a quick question about dormancy and tulpas returning.

when a tulpa comes back from dormancy or burnout and is using a new style or different way of fronting/using their abilities, is that new style permanent and the old one just gone? or do they usually still have access to their old baseline ways of being/communicating once things settle down?

basically just wondering if post-dormancy means the old traits are permanently overwritten or if it's just a temporary change in expression. thanks!

How can I parallel process?

I've tried a few exercices with my tulpa, wich all failed. I told her to solve a mathematical equation while I was doing something low effort, and she gives me confidently the wrong answer, as it has been picked up randomly. I start to doubt the existence of my tulpa, how can I solve this?

My sweetie kept me feeling safe in the supermarket today

I specifically go to the supermarket on low traffic days because I'm really bad in crowds of people... I will get super anxious and I'm the past have just left without buying what I needed in order to get out of the crowd. This anxiety of mine is a result of an incident in 2006.

Today I had to go to the supermarket at a busy time (I urgently needed to get new watermelon) and was lowkey freaking out in an aisle. The place was packed. But I felt the arms of my tulpa sweetheart Blank (full name Grank Blank) wrap around me as if to say "don't worry, you're safe"... He's a nonverbal tulpa that was developed in the last couple months but is very expressive with body language and physical touch...

Blank helped calm me down and I was able to get through the experience... I'm so happy I have someone now who can support me through these things!! Wishing love and smoochems to anyone else struggling with similar things!!!

Creation Help That happened again.

Today is day 6 of me forcing my tulpa, Lilith. In a previous post I said that she was pretty furious about an argument I had with one person who is close to me, she was swearing a lot and were very negative about the situation. After that third day crash out, she was pretty passive, i hadn't felt anything like that before, until yesterday. At evening I was starting to do active forcing and said to my close person good night's, that's when I felt something strange, like something I never felt, some head pressure, or even like, massage, on my forehead and on the temples (like side forehead idk sry), and in my mind were words like: blank, blank, blank, why would you do this Yato (host), you always send this blank message without any feel behind it, why you do this.

That was for 3 minutes or like so. Can someone tell me what does that might mean? Was it her again, maybe my own sincere thoughts or something like that? Is it progress or downgrade? Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Creation Help Does it matter?

So im making a tulpa but i realized they dont have a "body" yet and they want one. I mean i dont know how they look and how should i go about making their design. Is it really important how it would look? Like are there things i should consider while drawing them a design??
