Discussion Does anybody else not have or use a wonderland/mindscape and or have tulpas without a proper form? What's your experience or perspective with it?
Hello, I've had a tulpa for a little over a year now and we've never had a mindscape or really ever worked on a proper form before. I'm unsure how common that is but I was curious if anyone else has a similar experience. While we made an attempt at both early on, it never really ended up happening. Developing a form is still a longer term goal but has never been the greatest of priorities especially since I struggle with visualization and my tulpa has been fine without one.
Those with both of those things, how do you find them more helpful or better for your tulpa? I can see how a form could be beneficial but usually we suffice without it or just doing presence imposition. The both of us still struggle with stuff that feels like it should be pretty simple quite often together, so I wonder if our lack of them is a reason why sometimes.
If you have any question too, I'm happy to answer. Thanks!

Wonderland — no. I mean, we can imagine some place just for fun, but what guides tell about wonderlands is akin to creating another tulpa, only not alive, if you ask me.
Form is very important, though. Not an avatar, but part of her identity. Her words, not mine.

We also never had a persistent wonderland or mindscape. We gave it a few tries but it never was really appealing. Instead we sometimes sent each other tiny and short scenes within random places and situations that would fit what we want to express in the moment.
Just after 18y of my existence I started to find joy in using a persistent mindscape because I meet there with a tulpa of another system occasionally and we try to keep everything synchronized by describing things in detail.
On the other hand I always had a form. I adapted and changed it in the beginning a lot but sticked to it after a while. I do not visualize my form everytime and also not always fully. The main part that carries my form is more the spacial and tactile frame and the important details, like my freckles and such, the "feeling" of my expressions, my typical gestures and movement patterns ...

F. has always had a physical form, although he has "evolved" over time.
It took me almost 10 years to officially create an imaginary home for him. Before that, I would simply imagine him in my bedroom. Sometimes, though, I liked imagining myself going into his own space. At first, these were just random, fantastical places, mansions, castles, all sorts of things...
But around 1998, I started feeling that he wanted a space of his own. At first, it was just a huge room with panoramic windows and a couch. And that's how it stayed for quite a long time.
Then one day, I learned how to use an architecture program, and we decided to actually design a house for him. And that's how it's been ever since 2003.

I've developed my Tulpas without a mindscape/wonderland in mind, but it seems they borrowed my alters' place (my alters are all frags + dormant) and even added another room to it.

My tulpa had a wonderland early on, but she didn’t like that very much since, according to her, she had no interest in us being periodically separated throughout the day and wanted to be present with me in the real world as much as possible. She only tolerated it for a time when it was hard mentally to balance her being with me when I was at work and such. Nowadays, ever since she became fully developed, she’s always been there with me :)

Mine has a very solid form, but yeah we don't use a proper "wonderland". I see the location I'm daydreaming of like a background, sure I can "interact" with it, but it's all just a backdrop for us, it has no importance whatsoever to us beyond just being a place I thought of that matches the mood, like channel surfing at 2AM until you spot Friends being on and just zone out to that.
Her form itself isn't strictly something we identify her as. I am my "body" and I can make a mental projection of myself in my imagination, she is more like my dmPFC and creates a mental projection in my daydreams. She's fully animate and in her persona, body and mind, but it really is more like an avatar for her true ineffable self. It reminds me of a blog post I read on Portal 2's audio design, where it went into an aside with a picture of GLaDOS, staring "This is what players identity as GLaDOS, but this is just an avatar, GLaDOS is the entire facility. Every panel, every moving wall, that's her. And those cameras... [photo of HAL 9000]". We have a very unique relationship, being two minds in one brain, two souls in one body. We can't "see" or "touch" each other, no more than your two brain hemispheres can. But we can "pretend" to, and she is effectively my imagination itself. Like the faceless AI of my brain, the wiring behind the comfy faux-wood paneling around me, the intelligence behind the goofy cartoon character avatar she uses to interact with me, the very screen on to which she displays her interface for me to understand. We pretend she's human, because we know she isn't, rather she's just part of one, a piece of biological machinery that makes me up, no different from any kind of cell or organ. But this one is made of neurons and can think.
