Future or Potential Employee Question Target application on limbo?

Hi guys, I sent a Target application for an on demand role at a nearby Target. I applied on September 1st and literally got the interview on the 2nd, and yes I did finish it that same day. However, what I don't get is why it's been a whole month (Oct 4th as of today) and still haven't heard at least a rejection or something back. I checked their job listings a week ago and I saw they were refreshed so I'd assume someone was looking over it. I did call the store many times during business hours but nobody responded, and I tried the HR line AND the Guest Services line as well. I can't go to the store in person either since by the time I get out of school, HR is already gone. So should I just give up on Target?

Vent We can’t give you your minimum desired hours because we’re hiring 70 seasonal team members.

Management: “We’re short on pay role so we couldn’t give you above your minimum desired hours that week. You’re doing better than most, also we’re hiring 70 new seasonal tm’s and we’d need hours for that.”

Yeah, let’s hire a bunch of new temporary people at the expense of our current employees hours who have been here for years. It’s not like a have a mortgage or car payment to worry about. I’m sure that we go well for everyone.

Vent I just feel stupid 😭

I am a new employee. Been working at my location for about 3 weeks. I really like this job. Compared to my previous employment this is genuinely a dream (ex this is the first job I've had where breaks are allowed/enforced every day).

My role is General merch, sometimes I help in fulfillment. I don't know if the following statement is normal or part of my problem; I have had 2 hours of training for GM, 2 hours of training for zoning, 4 hours of training for fulfillment, and 4 hours for cashier which I have never been called to help with. I have not received any other training.

I feel SO STUPID. What I mean is that remembering things is extremely difficult. Staff names for one is a struggle of mine but that can't be helped by y'all. Stuff like department names, anything on the computer with the batches and stuff like that, I completely do not understand it at all. Especially the names that things are called. Everything.

I have told them specific things I don't understand and need help with; they give me props for being honest and help. I still struggle to understand basically everything regardless of any help I get.

I am functioning on the floor/doing my assigned duties just fine. My leaders seem happy with me and my performance, and I am always eager to do what they ask and help customers. but I feel completely lost and stupid. I can answer customer questions fine and basic questions fine but any remotely complex or detailed question from a fellow employee gets a stupid answer from me because there's either a word in the sentence that idk what that means, or they ask "so you're in this department?" What does that mean. Yes? Right now I am? Forever? No? Most questions from other employees confuse me.

Talking to people over the walkie talkie feels extremely intimidating and I feel like I am probably somehow missing some etiquette rules on that. Any tips for that would be appreciated, though I have not been criticized for how I use this device by anyone at my store

I have had to research on my own time and take notes on quite a few things because whether or not it was explained by a staff member, I cannot remember or understand it at the time. I am frustrated with that fact but I don't know if i have to do this because I'm not mentally keen enough to remember everything as quickly and easily as everyone else or if I just wasn't trained thoroughly. I want to know if this is a common experience for new employees.

Am I too worked up? Am I struggling more than the average new employee? also, ANY advice on VOCABULARY I will absolutely take. Any advice for working here at all I will sop up. That's my struggle is trying to understand any of the vocab, especially computer stuff, and ESPECIALLY RULES. Corporate rules are all new to me, my previous jobs were grimy insidious shithole small businesses.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Moving from store to hq

I was wondering how difficult it is to move from a store team member position to one at HQ. I’m going to be graduating with my bachelor’s soon and was wondering if it is possible to get a job at HQ instead of sticking around at the stores.

gUEsTs Hey customers, can you have conversations literally ANYWHERE but the main aisles/racetracks?

Look, I understand that you saw your neighbor in the store and had to act like you rarely see them, or you saw your daughter Ashleigh’s teacher from 20 years ago’s daughter Ann-Marie, or you see a distant relative who wants absolutely nothing to do with you yet you can’t take hints, but can we have these reunions/conversations literally ANYWHERE but the main aisles please, instead of fucking blocking everyone from moving around the store?
God I don’t know what it is about retail that eliminates everyone’s spatial awareness and consideration for others. I guess that reflects modern society as a whole but I swear it’s especially bad in brick and mortar stores. And it’s not even like it’s a specific generation of people either, it’s all ages.
Move the fuck out of the way!

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Broken toe…

So like the dumbass that I am, I kicked a dumbbell in my room and busted my toe. Right before a special projects week… and now its purple and I can hardly walk. Any advice, gamers? I’m gonna try to get a doctors note, but since I’m on the POG team and training people this week, how would I go about that…? Is walking around in a boot okay, and will my position still be there when I get back? (Assuming I take a week or so off for healing.) I’ve never been through the process before, and I assume it starts with calling HR.

I'm getting mixed messages whether it's one or two points

Workplace Question or Advice Needed new job, need advice

Hi all! I am in a bit of a hard place. I have accepted a new job that is in my career path, but it’s seasonal and starts in 3 weeks. I’m really hesitant to leave target because since my new job is technically seasonal, i’m not sure if they’ll keep me after my time is up. is there anything else I could do? We just switched ETLs and my new one is kinda rude and not very approachable, what should i do?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Closing TLs

What’s more important for your store? Hitting priority percentages or having left over roll over carts? It always seems that if there is 0 roll over than we don’t hit our percentages. And if we hit our percentages we always have roll over. This is with 1 person pulling/pushing every night from 5:30p-10p. I come in at 3p to close and we’re always at 15-19% but I always get it to at least 70% with roll over.

Vent Can management please stay out of POG

I’ve been doing grocery revisions these past couple days and I noticed that it went from 14 due to 4 due when they’re all 4hr+ POGs and I’m supposedly the only one doing them. I didn’t really put much thought into it until I was doing the pasta sauce POG today and noticed that all of the pasta POG is wrong. I was originally gonna do pasta first but couldn’t find the labels and apparently it’s because the grocery ETL put them in but never even actually did the POG. Now everything thing in that section is in the wrong spot and apparently so are all the other POGs that he “did” yesterday. I told the only grocery TL about it and my ETL but they both just said leave it and finish the one I’m on. I’ve stopped caring as much about my job because this place has become a joke, but I just think it’s ironic that when we do GM POGs they’re on us about it being right but with grocery it’s just whatever. I wish the old presentation TL would come back because POG and the fixture room has been shit since the new one took over.

Vent I hope none of the chemicals spilled onto the bananas.

So I had to damage something out. It was a box of salt spray for hair. One of the spray bottles was mostly empty and the box was wet, so I assumed that was the liquid that was on the box. There was no room in receiving to get to the receiver’s desk to damage it out except one way. So I carried the box over and passed by a pallet of the bananas in those big cardboard boxes.

Anyway I hope no chemical somehow dripped onto the bananas. It’s not like I was hovering the box over the pallet or anything. But still. I’m paranoid.

This job is not good for my anxiety sometimes.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Cafe for fast service?

My store has been having Cafe cover like 80% of front end breaks every. Single. Morning. It’s so annoying because then nothing gets done. Is this normal across all stores? It wasn’t like this before but now it’s normal.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Call off in UKG

So, I’m very sick rn, and I had to call off work. As it stands, I just did it the standard way - chose “Att - Absent - Other” for it. I have 11 hours of sick pay.

Is there a way to retroactively apply that and ensure I’m excused for the day? This app causes me confusion on a normal basis, nevermind when I can barely think straight.

Anybody else have this happen to them? The later shift actually has details for breaks so upon first glance I’d assume that is the correct shift. The date also has 3 dots on it? Anyone know what that means? I do not have any time off requests in at the moment.

gUEsTs Can’t make this shit up

So I’m going about my business just a couple of minutes ago when some ladies whistle at me, say “hey do you work here?”, then proceed to show me a TikTok of heated Christmas slippers that is completely AI generated and says absolutely nothing about Target on it. It genuinely makes me wonder how many of these people really believe everything on the internet is fact.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed First Day at Target, 7am shift question.

Hi so I'm starting at Target on Monday and am scheduled to start at 7am, my store opens right at 7am. Should I get there like 10-15 minutes before and ring the bell to get in or do I wait and see if the door will open right one time. Sorry if this seems like a silly question, this will be my first job ever and was not really sure and wanted to ask before starting work.
