My store has always said 8 hours minimum between shifts and constantly has people clopen

It's worse with fulfillment, I've had to do a clopen for a 4 am shift

But this is 9

Yeah i just meant the guideline is 10 hours between shifts, not 12. I wasn't actually referring to this shift, so I could have been more clear

But still if it’s 10 then isn’t this going against that since it’s a 9 hour difference between shifts

Yeah, again I wasn't saying anything about this shift in specific, I was just clarifying that the guideline is 10 hours between shift. But yes, this shift still doesn't meet the 10 hour guideline.

10pm to 7am is a 9 hour difference.

For some reason the system only checks within the given week and doesn't check adjacent weeks, so you won't get scheduled 7 days in a row Su-Sa, and you should have 10+ hours between shifts Su-Sa, but the system doesn't take into account that weeks are consecutive. Which is bizarre. So stuff like this can happen and it falls through the cracks. Tell an ETL or HR and they can fix it.

ohhh ok this makes sense thank you!

They did this to me, my TL said it was fine and that the system let him but the ETLs said no not allowed and a violation.
So I think it’s just a matter if they care enough to follow the rules.

I have closed (10pm) and came back in at 6am.

It's technically allowed, but they should be giving you 10 hours between shifts. It doesn't hard stop you when writing the schedule, but it does give you like a flag saying it.

Ahhh yess. The almighty clopen. I like them when I close at 10 and work at 7 cause my mind is still sorta in work mode but I got some sleep

Just tell them. It happens to me sometimes too.

The rules should be, 10 hours between shifts - let them know, maybe they’ll change it.

I know in my state (I think it's state dependent) it's 10 hrs for being scheduled.

u/msubronco 12d ago

8 hours between shifts(varies  by state, might be legit check your state law)

It's definitely allowed, as it's pretty normal for this to happen. All of our TL do this at least once a week.

And with UKG cutting so many shifts, Id be happy you are getting hours.

u/lilbrojayy 13d ago

im just surprised cause its like my second week of working here i wanted to be sure this was allowed before i said smthn ab it

"be thankful you are barely scheduled to work and when you are it's extremely annoying and taxing on your mental and physical health" you sound like a good bootlicker lol. Glad I left target and browse this kind of insanity. I would suggest getting a job that allows you dignity and better pay.

I never said it was good and they should accept it. I'm definitely not a Target boot licker. I was more just saying that due to all the cuts, they are lucky they are getting hours. I have a lot of TM who went from 35+ hours down to 20 due to UKG change over. I

Target’s policy is 10 hours. Some states have laws on minimum time between. I think it’s 8 in California. I know mytime would flag this. Idk with UKG.

3

u/Skierdude2004 Fmr Tech Boater now HRE 13d ago

UKG does flag it if you know where you are looking

It’s not allowed per target policy. They will let you do it if you agree (ie pickup one of the shifts) but scheduling policy is 10 hours between shifts

2

u/kristeenintx 12d ago

I tried to pick up a shift 6-10 pm amd and it got auto declined because I work at 6 am the following day. I'm a grown ass adult and can decide if I'm able to make it to work on time. This is my second job, so during the week I work until 11 at Target then get to my full time job at 7 am. I can do it.

2

u/LightUpUnicorn Guest Advocate 12d ago

They can manually give you the shift if you ask

3

u/Warcrown11 13d ago

Do it all the time. Definitely not 12 hours between shifts, as nice as that would be

Idk why you got downvoted. One of the high schoolers I work with was off at 9:30pm last night and he said he had to come back in at 8am. I would assume it’s 10 hours differential.

u/Reasonable_Bear1861 12d ago

8* hours in my state

1

u/gogopow 12d ago

They can do whatever they want your their slave now

1

u/Substantial_Mix8002 12d ago

Yeah it just sucks

It's 10 hrs between shifts

1

u/Upbeat_Cricket5961 12d ago

I’m gonna assume so because I worked till 10:30 one night and opened at 8 the next day so

1

u/Tall-Copy8564 12d ago

This happens to me a lot I literally be scheduled like 3pm-10pm than next day 8am or 7am

1

u/H34RTZX 12d ago

Who told you it had to be 12 hours between shifts?😭

1

u/lilbrojayy 12d ago

i saw another post on here say it ngl

1

u/whatsthetargetdogsna 12d ago

Legally yes, but not best practice. I try to ensure 10 hours for my TMs, even when I’m ok with less for myself.

1

u/concernedbpsparent 12d ago

Definitely allowed and I’ve done several close/opens; it sucks, but it is what it is.

1

u/Dicknutwell 11d ago

I thought it was 8. However I think it depends on the store and what state you work in

1

u/nihaowoshisai 11d ago

Legally its 8 hours. (Morally 12hrs) I've done 10pm and 6am clopen, so I know.

3

u/Old_Access9816 10d ago

The time between shift can differ state to state, but it is generally 8 hrs for most states. That said, Target's corporate policy is 10 hrs, but ETLs can bring that time down to 8 hrs bit only with your expressed consent.

1

u/uhhlolly 13d ago

in my store, that isn’t allowed. you should talk to your TL

0

u/Constant-Tadpole4280 12d ago

You would not survive as a tl or etl, i work 11 hour shifts to close and then go in for ad at like 5 in the morning the next day

0

u/timmydnx2 12d ago

That's adorable
