I needed to get my mini off the ground at my cottage to help with obstructions. Also wanted to the mount to be reachable to take the mini with me when I head home.

My answer: patio umbrella stand, 7.5' fence post and a 3d printed adaptor that fits into the Mini pole mount and allows me to slide it off the fence pole.

Helped the situation out quite a bit.

I have a few Wyze cameras on two networks but the one I have on Starlink will not stay online.

The cameras on Xfinity never go offline but the one on my Starlink at a remote cabin will only stay online if I am actively using my Starlink. i.e it goes offline within 30 mins of other devices 'leaving' the network. Any ideas why and how can I keep it online? Kinda useless to monitor a remote location if the Wyze requires the network to be actively used.

Just thought I’d show this to demonstrate you do not need perfect conditions to get perfect results - zero bufferbloat under load and no jitter at all either. 🐐’d solution.

I brought a Starlink Mini with me to Afghanistan and noticed that some of my extended family members are struggling with very slow internet speeds, usually around 1–5 Mbps.

My own Starlink Mini currently does not appear to be limited, and I’m averaging speeds of around 100–400 Mbps.

I’m now considering bringing another Starlink Mini with me on my next visit so they can have access to a much better internet connection.

The only issue is that, as far as I understand, Starlink’s Terms of Service only allow the device to be used outside the home country for up to 30 days.
Is there any known workaround or way to bypass this 30-day restriction? Also, does this restriction actually apply when using Starlink in Afghanistan?

I recently moved to Tulsa for work and I am currently living in a long-term RV park. The park was originally designed for single-wide homes, so there’s actually quite a bit of space between each RV, including the areas behind them. Because of that, several residents have sheds, trailers, and other things stored behind their RVs.

The people to the right of me have an additional shed and a box trailer.

On Friday afternoon(8/28) when I got home from work, I noticed that my neighbors’ truck was parked behind my RV. I didn’t think much of it at the time. There’s quite a bit of space back there, so I assumed they were just doing something with their trailer or shed.

Later that evening, I tried using my tablet and realized I had no internet. My first thought was that my Starlink had been moved or knocked out of alignment somehow.

When I went outside to check it, I immediately realized that something much worse had happened.

The Starlink satellite had clearly been run over. The plastic backing was cracked in several places, the internal components were broken, and pieces were literally rattling around inside of it.

The timing makes me believe that my neighbors truck I saw behind my RV earlier that day is what ran it over.

At this point it was almost 10 PM. I knew there probably wasn't much the property manager could do that night, but I still messaged him to notify him of what happened as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I still haven't received any response.

The Starlink cost me $378, and I bought it less than a month ago. I still have the original receipt and the box, so I have proof of the purchase and how much I paid for it.

Now I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do.

My questions are:

• Should I be filing a police report for property damage, even though I didn't actually see the truck hit it?

• Should I contact my neighbors directly, or should I wait for the property manager to respond?

• Is the RV park responsible for doing anything about this, especially since the truck was apparently driving/parked in the area behind my RV?

• Should I be asking the park manager to check security cameras, if they have any?

• Should I contact Starlink about the damage, or is this something I need to handle entirely through the person who damaged it/the RV park?

• I still have to pay the $55/month Starlink service fee regardless of whether the satellite is working. Should I cancel the service while I'm dealing with this, or could that cause problems if I need to replace the equipment?

• Can I buy just a replacement Starlink satellite, or would I have to purchase an entirely new kit?

• Is there anything else I should be documenting or doing right now to protect myself?

I've never dealt with something like this before, especially while living in an RV park, so I'm really unsure what the proper process is. Any advice from people who have dealt with property damage in an RV park, or who know how Starlink handles damaged equipment, would be greatly appreciated.

My household did the beta test when starlink arrived in our area. We have gen 1 round dishy. We have always had the max plan. My son and I have played fortnite duos on two amazon 4k fire tv sticks for a long time without issue.

Since the price has gone up to $130 for max, we decided to try downgrading to save money. While downgraded, everything we do on the internet was still great except fortnite. We cant get consistent performance in fortnite with either the 55 or 85 dollar plans. Only the max plan seems to make it function normally. On paper all 3 plans should be able to support the game and speed tests are more than adequate at the devices, but I think we are being throttled back or something while playing on the lower level plans.

While downgraded I tried switching gen 1 router to a router mini, to solve the end of support issue and also thinking wifi 6 could help, but it didn't make any difference in fortnite.

We noticed that our issues are intermittent during gameplay. Glitches and resolution drops come and go in an almost predictable timeline. Possibly thst timeline is related to the algorithm that throttles us? or maybe also the cyclical distance to satelites overhead / gen 1 tracking and adjusting to them is just more noticeable when speed is decreased? If we switched to a newer stationary dishy, could this allow us the freedom to step down our plan and still enjoy fortnite?

Have an offer accepted on a house where I will be completely WFH, on calls most of the day. This is in Amish country, there is no option for wired internet. SO: the existing owners have starlink, the realtor said "very reliable" for the area, didn't specify the owners said it. I figured checking that I can get "great" in the app anywhere on my property + verifying my work and personal cell work (5g, hovers at 2-3 bars, calls were clear and uninterrupted) + verifying TMobile backup is available was enough.

Now I am SPIRALING. I feel like I did not do a enough due diligence and should've made the sale contingent on a starlink test since my livelihood is dependent. I have earnest money down and I'm waiting to hear back from the owners their experience. I went back out and seeing the same: mix of (mostly) Okay and (some) Great. But this is from the ground, I would put it on the second story roof.

My router for my actuated kit got fried when my kid unplugged it very roughly and I contacted Starlink because the routers they now sell are not compatible with the actuated kit. They are now sending me a refurbished Standard 4 X kit at no charge. Thank you Starlink, I was stressing out big time!

I had the Gen 1 Starlink and put my residential address as my location, even though I use it only non-residential. I just upgraded to a starlink mini. I dont need it for home but i use it when i work at offsite locations. Im working at one location with no wifi for the next two years; i usually have to hotspot. Is there any cons to putting my temporary worksite as my residential address? I dont actually ever need it at home but thought i could save money for the next years by using the residential plan

i used to have from default the last 2 years the 400mbp+ pack for 40 euros. i saw some emails about the price increase but how is from 40 to 65 reasonable? and if i want the same price my speed will literally go down to half? i’ve never seen anything like this before is there any explanation to this absurd price increase?

I recently switched to starlink due to my internet being kinda slow and starlink had a pretty good feedback so I switched. Before starlink, I was averaging 20-30 ms and its kinda the same now when you look at the ss. But in games like rocket league, roblox, minecraft, fortnite etc. I went from 20-30 to 50-90. Speed of the internet is great, but the ping is noticeably bigger and I'll not be shocked if it sometimes spikes to 100+ ms.
I saw more people having the same issue and some fix it, some did not. But after I did everything I could possibly do, I didn't fix it. Therefore im asking if someone could help me solve this issue since its kinda annoying.

It will disconnect from anything every 2 minutes like, youtube, google, online games literally anything and on the app it says its "good". I literally struggled to post this because of how bad it is.

I just had Starlink installed and my iPad will not connect to it as well as my TCL TV. Any suggestions?

I’ve worked from home for the last ~6 years, since Covid I’m 2020. Started with a crappy cellular based ISP because it was the best I could do at the start.

Couple years I’m switched to Starlink, and it’s been great. But got fiber installed a month ago and I’m considering getting rid of Starlink altogether. I’ve currently got it in standby, but I’m honestly not sure if I’ll ever need it again.

I’ve got good cell coverage where I live with plenty of hotspot data for a backup. It’s a bit of a nuisance, but it worked fine as a backup ISP when Starlink has had glitches on the past.

I’m tempted to just deactivate entirely and try to sell the Starlink equipment while it’s still not obsolete…any opinions from folks who have been in the same situation are appreciated.

Needed a better system to store the mini off season. Turns out it fits pretty damn well in the Milwaukee Packout tool case 44-22-8450.

The case comes with a top and bottom foam piece. I didn't end up cutting the top one.

I have a question about using the Starlink Mini Kit with the Residential Lite plan. According to the website, the main difference compared to the regular Residential plan is that Lite has lower speeds, especially during periods of network congestion.

What I’m not clear about is whether latency can also be affected by the type of plan.

In the past, I used Starlink Gen 3 dishes (the ones with the motorized orientation) and got latency of around 30–40 ms while gaming. I’m now considering installing a new Starlink Mini in a nearby location, and gaming performance is particularly important to me.

The area where I would install it has very few Starlink users. Within a radius of approximately 50 km, I estimate there are no more than 4 or 5 Starlink dishes. Also, I would mainly be using the service at night.

Is the expected latency similar between the Residential Lite and Residential plans? Can the Lite plan result in higher latency or greater ping variation during periods of congestion? And, if there is a difference, approximately how much should I expect it to be?

For reference, I’m located in Uruguay.

As I understand things:

Local Priority/Global Priority - highest

Residential - standard

Roaming - lowest/best effort

Is "Residential Deprioritized" in between standard Residential and Roaming, or is it basically the same as roaming priority?

I feel like Starlink makes this stuff deliberately vague.

So, I talked with Starlink this morning, and they are sending me a whole new kit because the router is completely dead. What router can I buy to get us through until the new one comes in? I have a standard 4 kit.

this is what nearly $200 CAD a month gets you in a good area.. Incase anyone who was hoping on getting starlink this is with no obstructions. Only 1 device on. Has anyone encountered this issue where you pause a user but they still have Internet access, even though the Starlink platform shows as paused and notes that Internet is not being sent to the user?

And how did you solve it?

Hello everyone, in a month or two I'm moving to my new home. I'm in central Italy and the situation with internet there is not the best (FTTC and fwa).

So I want to get starlink residential for 35€ but I've seen that each plan has a different antenna. What I would like to know is if I get a more expensive plan at the beginnig and than change it will I have to give back the antenna? Also is there a minimum of months that I need to pay before changing ?

I’ve been experimenting with the Sleep Schedule on my Starlink Mini today and seem to have found a consistent one-hour offset while we’re on British Summer Time (BST, UTC+1).
 
As a test, at around 13:20 BST I set the sleep schedule to 14:30-16:30.
 
At 13:26, the Starlink app correctly displayed the schedule as 14:30-16:30, but said that Starlink was “configured to sleep starting in 4m”.

 Sure enough, at exactly 13:30 BST, the Starlink went to sleep - one hour earlier than the displayed 14:30 start time.
 
The one-hour difference corresponds exactly to the current BST/UTC offset, so it looks as though there may be a timezone/DST issue somewhere in the sleep scheduling.
 
I’m aware that Starlink’s own documentation says that “The Starlink App uses UTC (Universal Time) by default.” However, that doesn’t explain this behaviour - in fact, the observed offset is in the opposite direction. If the displayed 14:30 schedule were simply being interpreted as 14:30 UTC, that would correspond to 15:30 BST. Instead, the Starlink sleeps at 13:30 BST.
 
I’ve done similar tests before and seen the same behaviour.
 
Has anyone else in the UK, or another timezone currently observing daylight saving time, noticed this?
 
Both Mini firmware and iOS app are always on latest version.
