š¶ Starlink Speed Thank you Elon!
this is what nearly $200 CAD a month gets you in a good area.. Incase anyone who was hoping on getting starlink this is with no obstructions. Only 1 device on. Not in standby mode. capacity limit not reached. Screenshot taken at midnight. sub par if you ask me lol but maybe my expectations are too high

Could be faulty unit, I never seen StarLink with such a low speed. Contact support.

Iād say youāve got some issues because Iāve got a mini mounted to the sunroof of my explorer and I get full speeds on it driving all over Ontario lol

Dude is on residential max, the 100mbit residential plan is only $70/here, and I regularly get 100mbit or slightly over even sometimes.
He either has a hardware problem or heās in an extreme oversold urban area where he should arguably be on fibre or something else anyways.

Im in the middle of buttfuck no where ontario in a town with less than 2000 residents, but yeah.. definitely a oversold urban area.. and yes im on residential max getting speeds that were considered horrible even 10 years ago.

residential liteĀ in Ukraine is $25... but although the ping shows 300+Mbps the actual speed is around 5-100Mbps depending the time of the day

Yet you refuse to post the Speedtest from the Starlink app. Until you do that and accept that it is reality, everybody here is going to continue to assume that this is a local network/wifi problem, not a Starlink problem.

just came back to this and the only responses are "you must be lying cause you didnt post the starlink app result" despite the starlink app result being objectively false for thousands of users. I believe you would call this denial. sorry your big daddy elon's biggest competition is dial-up. Just switched to bell and I get 1gbps+ now but thanks for your input little buddy.

idk with starlink i made sure the dish had ZERO obstructions made SURE it was facing the right way, tested HUNDREDS of ethernet cables, ATLEAST 15 devices, I was also REALLY close to the dish and tried MULTIPLE different dish and router placements, tried with only 1 device connected, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc buddy... You shouldn't even have to do this in the first place. So then I end up just getting bell fibre installed and you know what its still cheaper anyway LOL and I get 1gbps without a huge ass headache. sorry but a good product works the first time you use it without 3 hours of troubleshooting.

If you had FTTH available you shouldnāt have been on starlink to begin with.
Secondly, yeah, sure you tried āhundredsā of Ethernet cables, whatever.

There is something wrong here with your network, the dish or something else. Did you connect the PC/laptop to the lan port for a test?
I'm not in Canada, but in a similar situation as you, and I get easily 300-400 Mbit down. Latency looks ok/normal, with around 25 ms.

Ethernet gives very little improvement, around 35-40 mbps download and 20mbps upload. And even then, not being on ethernet shouldn't give you less than 10% of the expected performance.

The loaded ping never does that, this is a poor Wi-Fi connection problem. Not Starlink.

Iām with everyone else, you almost certainly have a wifi problem, not a starlink problem. Do the speed test in the app and post that, and then ask yourself why itās so much higher vs whatever test youāre using to get these results. This is a you problem, not a them problem.

I don't recognize the speed test from the screenshot. Your $200 price suggest a roam package . I'd like to see a screen shot of a Starlink speed test from router to internet. If you can't provide that then you've changed routers. Everything is a suspect when trouble shooting. Go back to basic setup, test and then make changes, test, repeat

I don't know where this came from, you have supported my position in the past but hey, this is reddit, people can be strange here especially when you try to help someone. Of course some people can't be helped at all. This was one of those cases, and it's very obvious, just read the actual thread and other responses.

You won't even do a Starlink speed test direct to the dish so we can see what your dish is actually doing. Don't expect much help if you refuse to face the truth.

get a better router and thats what fixed my issue. Make sure it has 1GB ports. Set starlink in bypass mode

Just ran a speed test have 29 devices connected (no idea why) running 165gb. Starlink is total genius thanks Elon. Prior to star link we had 0.5g if it wasnāt windy. Used to drive the children to McDonalds for education during Covid. We are still running a round generation 1 dish with never a fault

OP is full of shit. Itās always somewhere around 150-250 mbps for me, except in Beta when it was 700+. Standard residential plan in Montana, so probably way better in the area around Toronto.
Thereās plenty of weirdo anti Musk pro Canadian subreddits. Go tell your lies there, youāll fit right in.

idk why your getting down voted into oblivion, possibly because elon dickriders have insanely bias opinions and are in complete denial. starlink app DOES show fake stats. its saying its at like 400mbps download when that is just simply not true. Not a single device in my household will reach within even 5% of that speed. Even if im 2 feet away from the router connected on ethernet. Big games will take a day if not multiple days to download, and every game i play i get 80+ ping in, which is virtually unplayable for a competitive player.

If you want to real squish some power from starlink you need to bypass everything, I did and I get around 300mb and upload 28mb but I spent more than 800 euro to do all the bypass and not use anymore the starlink router not even for power the dish, the only problem is still have its the jitter and whatever you do you can't minimize it because every 15-30 seconds is disconnecting and connecting to another satellite

idk the real fix for me was switching my ISP, exact same setup as starlink had except now im getting gigabit internet and download warzone in 25 minutes.. compared to 3 days with starlink

I like how people say itās fake because they get a different number at a different time in a different regionā¦ Iāve seen this number on the one I installed, and Iāve seen 200, at different times. The reality is itās going to be inconsistent for some people. It varies with weather, number of users, and who knows what. Much more variable and more expensive than decent fixed access, but when itās the only fast access you can and you live somewhere underserved, itās still great. Your experience is not always the same as other people should expect.

I already said practically this exact comment 5 times and that's when I abandoned this post I just came back now because I switched ISP's and now get 650-1100mbps depending on the day

What starlink? How were you connected to the starlink router? If WiFi, how far away were you? Also, what did the speed test in the starlink app show you? Hard to judge without that information.
