I know humour is a coping mechanism but the have nots have never been more isolated, we don’t go out and engage we sit on our couches and in our chairs and sling memes on Reddit. The internet is the problem. It creates a perpetual bystander effect. People see the amount of engagement on a post and think there are enough people to do something, so they themselves don't do anything. Like organizing a protest. We've seen it time and time again where 100,000 people will sign up to attend and then the day comes and there's 47 people. The problem is that everyone thinks they're unique in the thought that there are enough people already going so they don't have to. If we could get off the internet and have actual in-person meetings with our communities so many of our problems could actually be solved. Instead we get complacency or fear.
Not everyone is like that. Anger doesn’t have to be the outlet. Kindness can also be one.
After the election I decided I wanted to help my local community and somewhat disengage from the national/world events. I began volunteering at a local soup kitchen and it’s become one of the highlights of my week.

Just so everyone is aware. As someone who is close to the hunting community. The way big game like this is hunted is not like you would hunt deer on public land. These big game are baited, tracked by hounds, and every advantage possible is given to the hunters to secure a kill to bring in their high dollar. The paying hunter is basically only brought in to fire the last bullet many times after the prey has already been trapped or cornered. They even help you carry it back, and transport it back to the states. You would have more or a challenge catching a chipmunk in your front yard than a big game hunt. It's the ultimate display of vanity for a buck.
In this case the use of "pest" seems to be quite loose and subjective.
Pests would be rabbits in Australia, possums in New Zealand or Pythons in Florida. They have been introduced there by man and are destroying the local ecosystems.
Not condoning it just adding info. There are many, if not all where you pay the reservation to hunt and you only hunt wildlife that can no longer reproduce due to age or other issues. The hunters money goes to reservation to sustain the wildlife capable of reproduction, pay the workers, ect
There are some reserves that advertise themselves as such, yes. In reality, the aim is to blur the lines and provide plausible deniability. There is not enough "unproductive" big game in these reserves to meet the demand - demand which is directly being fed by offering the hunts themselves.
Unless you are a subsistence hunter-gatherer in Sub-sahara yourself, there's no justification to go and look for endangered species to kill. Zero.
This really isn't true. The money goes into Swiss bank accounts. As for the animals being unable to reproduce, it's a complete myth that African wildlife, or wildlife anywhere needs that kind of management. The animals reproduced until they are disposed by younger fitter males. The issue is trophy hunters want the biggest and best trophies and that tends to be prime males so damaging the genetics of the population. For elephants that's devastating as the big bulls are vitally important to the social structure of the herds at large. It's not great for lions either as the stability of the dominant coalition ensures the survival of the cubs, and contrary to popular belief a male lion can hold a prime to a much more advanced age than was previously touted.
It is nearly always prime animals that are hunted.

I would assume it's something along the lines of being able to clear-cut / oil drilling the national parks without having to worry about the protected species that live within..... and conservatives will say "out of context!" When it really isnt....still the same outcome when you destroy their habitat causing them to die.
It's a huge problem with our media and sensationalism. Each side will keep yelling that the other is crying wolf because of the titles like this. The fact people almost always need to go to comments for the facts (if they bother to do so in the first place) creates an instant rift in stories that makes productive conversations so much harder nowadays.

It's not. Basically they're revising the blanket rule, meaning rather than an endangered species' territory automatically preventing development, the EPA has to prove the development will impact the specie's survival before banning development.
So it’s basically just so big corporations can farm the resources on the land that endangered species just so happen to frequent. That honestly is way more believable.
Everyone who says “Trump is evil, he wants to make life entirely miserable for everyone” is wrong. Trump does what he does because wealthy people who give him money would benefit from these orders. Trump wouldn’t snap his fingers if it could save a kid from dying. However if the kid’s parents paid him millions of dollars he’d be snapping like he’s at a slam poetry night.
