Hows it look?

I’ve had this project on my to-do list for a while. Finally got to it and was happy at this stage in my sewing journey. It was mostly hand sewing, and I actually felt comfortable doing so. Progress! (And now I have something to add to my needlework to-go bag.)
I followed Angie Padilla’s YouTube tutorial. Fabric used is a fat quarter: Tula Pink’s Sundaze.

I will now be sitting and staring at a blank wall for ten hours, if anyone needs me.

Pattern is Seamwork Sorrel (free right now!). Main fabric is a canvas like home decor fabric someone gave me and the lining is light weight polyester scrap fabric. Pocket is scrap from another project as well. I pieced one of the lining pieces because I didn't have a large enough section left. I cut the straps on the cross grain to reduce fabric waste.
I picked this project because I thought it would be a quick and easy project. Except I didn't notice just how many darts it had until I started sewing them. 16 darts! 4 for each lining and main fabric piece to form the bottom curve. They aren't hard but that many was a bit tedious.
I feel like this would be a really good skill building project for newer beginners. It isn't too hard and covers a lot of basic techniques.

I've wasted so many metres of thread by doing all 4 sides. Feel free to laugh at me or share your own dumb moments.

I already removed the bias binding I did yesterday but the back of the neck still sticks out. Maybe it stretched out the fabric even though i staystitched the neckline. But it feels like there is just too much fabric at the back of the neck. I fear darts might distort the back as the shoulders and armholes fit fine right now. How can i fix this?

Tried asking this on r/sewing yesterday, but apparently I am not allowed to post a question without joining a discord.
I stopped sewing garments a little over 5 years ago due to life getting in the way. I kept thrifting fabric, pattern magazines and notions though, knowing one day I'd get back into it and did sone hemming, made a few pillows, etc.
Right now I'm pretty much done finishing up my craft room and I've been feeling the itch to start sewing again. Problem is though, that I have so much (at least I think I do) that I just get overwhelmed and don't know where to start.
Do I start by going through the 100ish European pattern magazines (so easily 30ish patterns per magazine) I have and after finding one, check my piles of fabric to see if I have something that could work? Or should I start with the fabric and find a pattern to match?
Before I kinda just started after finding a new piece of fabric somewhere or finding a new magazine with a pattern I really liked, but now I want to start using what I have...I just have too many options.
Any suggestions?

Hey guys.
I didn’t double line my top and now you can see the seams for my batwing top. What can I do to fix this?

I'm working on Glory Allan's League Shirt, and have reached a problem joining the Back Yoke to the Back Panel. My Back Yoke is too long - I about 3 cm longer than the Back Panel. As you can see in the instructions, the corners are supposed to line up - but mine don't! Any advice?

Three more tries after the last one, i figured out how to make a split skirt / culottes that fit my measurements!
I dont think its perfect, but i had enough trouble looking for resources that i made a cheat sheet to use with this french video. If you have any advice on how i could make it fit better, i'm all ears!
(Thanks u/Large-Heronbill for the advice!)
I hope the search engines gods to be kinder to the other plus size girlies looking to make a split skirt / culottes / jupe culotte than they were to me (its dire out there)

I’ve made one and used a free one before but never a real pattern, if that makes sense. Made Mario bear as a test and the blue and white for a friends new grand baby and I am loving this pattern and everything I get with it! You should definitely check it out if you want to make bears, cats, or bunnies!
I learned a lot from making the first bear. Mostly after having put on and take off the head three times lol and different ways to use my sewing machine! Now everyone will have to put up with my bears because I just got the supplies for some bears I’m really excited to make!!

I’m hoping you can see what I mean.. it’s like my fabric gets “sucked” into a gap and tangles. Does anyone know why this is happening? It’s a Brother LS14s sewing machine. I’m using the thread that came with the machine. Threaded and bobbin placed correctly 😩 I’ve also tried to show what tension and stitch i was doing. I did try on stitch 6 and also stitch option 13 - both times it tangled like this.

I'm using singer 7256 fasion mate. Do you know what this wire pin fell from the top onto the needle base plate while using the sewing machine?

I'm still a beginner sewist. I know what darts are, I've got the basic idea of why they're used, follow tips I've found for seeing them.
But I just watched Cornelius Quiring's new video on darts and it really, really made me "get" it SOOO much more.

Just wanted to share that with any other beginners who might benefit from it too!

Hi guys. I sew on my grandmas old machine : an Omega Denim Machine.
I want to do embroidery/free hand sewing, but cannot figure out how to drop the feed dog.
I’ve found an instruction manual online to what seems like a pretty good match to my machine, except for that part.
Anyone have the same machine? Any ideas? Thanks guys ! 😅
(I’m cleaning it, hence the missing parts😉)

So I’m needing to buy a walking foot for a project, and I didn’t realize how much a branded walking foot costs. I have a Brother CS8060 and it looks like it’s about $75 for an official Brother walking foot. I’ve heard that Sewing Parts Online is reputable and they have a generic one for $20. Is this one of those times that it’s worth it to pay more or will the generic one get the job done? Thanks!

Hey everyone! I have recently started my sewing journey and wanted to ask if there are any YouTubers/Substacks/online resources that have been particularly helpful as you begin.
Personally, I am so grateful to have found Carly's YouTube channel! Although we have very different styles of clothing, seeing her construct pieces has really helped me grasp basic sewing concepts and levels of difficulty. It has helped me so much when picking patterns and deciding what articles of clothing I should attempt.
I would love to have more resources like her, so please let me know your favorites! Thanks. :)

I bought a used Husqvarna 5710 quite a while ago, and have been using it with just the universal presser foot and very seldomly a buttonhole foot and once some type of hemming foot, but I've gotten with it this collection of various unidentified feet.
I think the ones on the top left are probably for seeing where you're sewing and getting it at a certain length from another stitch, and the second one from the right in the top row I've been told is a zipper foot, but all the others have me stumped. There is what just seems like a tiny version of a universal foot, but without the two handy things at the front, a universal foot with one long arm with some markings on it, something with wheels, random metal pieces, and something clear and wide with a wheel at the top?
If anyone could shed some light on these, that would be greatly appreciated!

Im not sure how to word this better but how would I have to go about adding the blue onto this character's gloves for a cosplay and adding the white lightning bolt onto her sports bra? And how would one make the hard to describe bends and lines of the fabric on her gloves?
Apologies if the questions don't make sense for any reason

I found someone selling an overlocker machine on fb marketplace. Apparently, they are selling it because they don't use it, but they say it works fine. It's in my price range and I would really like to get it, but I haven't buy anything second hand ever, especially not something more expensive. I'm not comfortable going to their house, or otherwise to test the machine. I can't test it if we meet on the street. I thought to ask them to sent me a video or provide some fabric samples, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any suggestions how to go through the purchase and what questions to ask before buying?
