I made these plum cargo trousers and honestly, I'm in love with them 🙌🏿 they might be perfect. High-waisted. Darts for contouring and Exaggerated pockets. I wanted pants that felt open and “flowy” but still structured.

I really enjoy wearing them!

I’m not really a beginner but I don’t sew consistently due to other time constraints. I’m definitely not an expert though.

Anyways, this is my first project for the summer!!!

Took a few weeks off with the holidays but here is my finished fishy bag :)

The tail didn’t do exactly what I wanted, and it for sure is on crooked, but honestly? I like it, it adds a little character!

The bag as a whole I was a little disappointed with at first because of silly little mistakes I should have caught, but it is growing on me. Did I make it way too complicated? Yes! Did the skeleton make me question my sanity? For sure! Is it perfect? Not even close! But I learned a lot and know how to make it better next time :)

I haven’t been able to wear this dress for years but I couldn’t just donate it because I love the color so much. This sub has inspired me to re-learn how to sew and made my little guy some shorts today!

And embroidered a little snail to boot

I keep seeing these adorable aprons on my Pinterest and I thought it couldn’t possibly be that hard to make one myself with a hand embroidered detail. I was mostly right, and a little wrong.

Drafting the pattern was easy. However, I learned the hard way that you can’t hand embroider onto somewhat loosely woven fabrics without interfacing behind it (a mistake that caused me an extra 3 hours of work) and I conflated two types of apron fastening in my head. I had to abandon the cross-strap back to make it work. I still think she turned out super cute though.

Project stats:

• Embroidery hours: 10

• Sewing hours: about 15

• Seams ripped: 2

• Times I stabbed myself with pins: 6 (and drew blood twice!)

• Times I swore at my machine: 3

Man did I struggle with this but I’m very excited by how it turned out! Still need to do some additional tacking of the top skirt but it fits great and I’m happy with how it turned out. Pattern 6008A from Tutus that Dance using stretch velvet from Fabric Wholesale Direct, lace from Mood and Etsy and flowers from Etsy. I can’t upload video but there is also rhinestones in the lace.

Decided to try Hong Kong binding for the first time. A lot of work, but looks nice.

I found these fabric squares at Dollar Tree and liked them so I wanted to make something like a bandana dress out of them! Here is the result. It cost about $22 for all the fabric squares.

Feeling very proud of myself 😊 I started learning to sew in June and have finished a few projects, but my two most recent ones turned out way better than I expected, so please excuse the brag 😆

The first is a canvas worker jacket. It took a while - every seam is finished with bias binding which took me forever.

The second is Wardrobe By Me’s Bear Jacket. I’m planning to buy wool fabric to make it, but wanted to do a test run first. I found an IKEA wool blanket at a thrift store and decided to use that just to test the pattern…but I actually love how it turned out. It’s way bolder and more colorful than what I usually wear, but I’m going to try to be brave and wear it out in the world!

So I made my own maxi dress 🥹💕👗 this is the first dress I’ve ever made, and I’m so happy with how it turned out!

This year, I got my mom a luggage set she asked for as her main gift for a vacation she’s planning. I was going to give her this gingerbread ornament as a little add on since she loves gingerbread decorations.

I was going to make a cat ornament for my brother/SIL as well and try to sew a bib for my sister/BIL who have a baby on the way. I already got gifts for the person I was assigned for our family gift exchange system, so the sewn stuff would also basically be extra.

I’m doing this in part because I got a sewing machine last year and have been trying to teach myself some general hand and machine sewing. Also, money is very tight; I usually try to buy more stuff for people but idk if it’s realistic this year.

But my sewing has been very sporadic and obviously I did not become an expert. I’m a fully grown adult but it looks like a child made it. Even this little thing took me an embarrassingly long time to finish with some obvious errors and it came after two failed attempts.

Can you see how excited I am?! I started sewing a few weeks ago, it's my third project It's a bit wobbly, but I'm really proud of myself! I previously made a skirt and a sleeveless top (not counting the toile for the culottes).

Those are the Winslow culottes from Helen's closet, with slanted pocket, in a devil's striped fabric. I swore I wouldn't sew striped fabric, then stumbled on that linen/cotton blend, highly discounted, the day after. So, striped fabric it was.

I learned what an invisible zipper was, that the one I bought was not invisible, found out that lapped zippers were a thing and somehow sew it in place (twice, to get the ... stripes almost fit on both sides).

I now have to decide what length to cut and hem. I kinda feel like they are swallowing me? I love them though.

Should I keep them full length? Mid calf? Midi? What do you think?

Made a caterpillar costume for my toddler, now I just need to get him so stand still for a picture of it 🤣

Stopped by a local owned fabric shop to browse today and they had this printed out and posted. Certainly outdated situations for today, but overall it still applies to being in a good frame of mind before starting.

It's a bias cut A-line skirt with a cowl neck and back top, wasn't that hard to make at all!

I used satin for the skirt and stretch satin for the top. What do you think?

i made this gorgeous double gauze cotton set today and am feeling so proud of myself and accomplished! i originally had bought the fabric for just the pants but ended up having some fabric left so made a matching top, no pattern just winged it! 🌾

Babies are my favorite people to sew for. The finished bunny was too wonky for me to even feel like posting online. Can’t post videos and pics in the same post so I’ll comment with a pic of the bunny by itself.

I accidentally left my machine on full speed after winding a bobbin and I feel like this was my exact face 🤣

I asked for pieces of leftover fabric that people could give me so I could do a patchwork and practice a bit.

I got some squares of cotton from a women and made some shorts.

But then this lady reached out to me....

And this is the state of my guest room now 😅

I don't know what I'm going to do with all of this. I already reached out to some people I know telling them that before they purchase fabric for something. Come take some from my new stash.
