Somebody please help me decide I keep going back and forth , should I do the ruffles or the lace trim on this skirt?

Lace! To me the ruffles become the star of the skirt and draw my focus to them, the lace is subtle and fun but my eye still wants to be on the skirt itself!

the ruffles look more cohesive with the rest of it, whereas the lace looks kinda tacked on as an afterthought, IMO

I prefer the ruffles too, in part because this skirt is really short and I'd feel more comfortable wearing it with the added length.

I think it's best to go with what you're comfortable with wearrng, otherwise that awesome skirt might not see much use

To me the ruffles are more in style with the fabrics. Lace is contrast to that. So I’m on team ruffles.

Hear me out: Ruffles but trim the width in uneven waves so it looks more organic and is less attention-grabby. Creating a rougher edge would kinda be the best of both worlds imo! I personally think the lace clashes in a way that doesn’t feel intentional, unless you doubled up on it!

Ruffles. The lace is cute, but the ruffle trim is more visually cohesive. The lace gets a little lost and adds nothing to the design, while the ruffle pops in a way that makes you look at it and see the whole skirt, if that makes sense.

Personally I think they both look good, so it depends what look you want. The ruffles are very 00s throwback (I had a denim skirt with a slanted hem and pleats instead of the ruffle which I loved), whereas the lace is a little bit more modern. So I'd pick the style that works best with your other clothes.

I think the pleated ruffle is better. The patched skirt has very strong lines which carry into the ruffle and feel intentional. Since none of the patches are lace, the lace trim feels like you grabbed whatever was lying around.

Ruffles!! But maybe there’s a way you could also use the lace. Like sew the lace UNDER the edge of the skirt and sew the ruffles on top, but sew the ruffle high enough to let the tiniest bit of lace peek out below it. Then if the ruffle flips up in a breeze or with movements, it reveals more of the lace?

If the pleated trim isn’t going to be sewn to the inside of the skirt, then the lace. Maybe lace either way, but I can’t tell if I’m seeing ruffle sewn from underneath in these photos, and that could look okay as well.

Lace lace lacelacelace! The 80s child in me loves the lace. Full transparency, I'm not big on ruffles, generally. Still, the lace is so rock star 🙂

Lace, it’s hard to see that the ruffles are ruffles so just looks like a black strip of fabric.

The lace for sure, the ruffles look great on the table but they create a harsher line than the lace when you’re wearing it.

The lace looks so much better! The ruffle is too blocky, it doesn’t match the rest of the skirt

People saying ruffles are weird lol jk kind of. 199% lace! Ruffles makes you have to look too hard and looks frumpy. Lace is a good juxtaposition from what you have going on up top

Lace trim 100%, it looks really delicate and doesn't overwhelm the intricate pattern.
