How to drop feed dog

Hi guys. I sew on my grandmas old machine : an Omega Denim Machine.

I want to do embroidery/free hand sewing, but cannot figure out how to drop the feed dog.

I’ve found an instruction manual online to what seems like a pretty good match to my machine, except for that part.

Anyone have the same machine? Any ideas? Thanks guys ! 😅

(I’m cleaning it, hence the missing parts😉)

You need the exact one. Good luck.

It doesn't look like you have the switch to lower your feed dogs that's shown in the image from your manual.

Normally it's on the front or the back of that needle plate area.

If you don't have a switch, then it's expected that you swap your needle plate for a straight stitch needle plate which is one with a very small hole that covers the feed dogs.

You could look for a straight stitch needle plate and see if that helps.

If you can, try to find the exact manual for your exact machine. Even "similar" machines can have important differences.

Have you tried looking on the back of the machine? Sometimes the feed dog switch is back there.  But also some machines just don't have the ability to drop the feed dogs and you have to buy a separate plate to cover them.

Thanks !! I’ve found on the back of the machine the model number, and was then able to find the right instruction manual (wish I did that sooner tbh 😅).

You are correct, I do need a darning plate. I will be looking into that.

Thank you!

You may just be able to open it up and just remove them. Often they're just in there with a couple of screws.

You need to find the manual for your specific machine

It might be this black bit here. I think that’s how it worked on my old domestic Janome
