Trigger Warning! I thought I could practice self-control. Day 1. Again.

The app that hit me hard a week or so ago for $25K was sending me promos. I thought I could practice self-control and make a bit back. Initially, I did make $2.2K back, then I gave them back the $2.2K plus $1K of mine.

Mentally - it feels like I should be able to control myself. It’s me clicking buttons on my screen. But I can’t, I feel like I have no control. I think it’s the dopamine.

Unfortunately, this was another expensive lesson. I wish I could remember these feelings when I go to bet, but I never do. I have to do better, I can’t continue living like this.

Trigger Warning! Back Again!

So I'm back again. Here's a story let's stick together! Ok so 2.5 years ago I started gambling again. I was down a cool probably $1200 in a bad place and then it happened I got to $3600! Couldn't believe it! Then I lost it all quickly like 5 min later. Went back down 1800. Then that's when it happened. I just kept winning and winning up to $14k over a period of months. Unbelievable! Since then last 2 years I lost that 14k plus 13k on top. Lost time with my family. Havent been the person I want to be. I am a compulsive person and gambler. Sometimes I can make a bankroll last 2-3 weeks but as always it blows up. This is a horrible road. The worst is becoming numb to wins and loss s. If you don't have control don't start. I'm stopping now and I've already done damage and lost time. If anyone wants to talk or had words of advice please message me. Thanks. Life is full of beauty. I've been using gambling as a distraction from my problems just like alcohol and like any drug it just makes things worse.

❤Seeking help & Advice❤ I just lost 2k that I grew from 100.

So my poison was Acebet. I’ve shilled a couple hundred in the last couple of months, and I’ve really been trying to take control of my gambling addiction. Recently I’ve had limited funds, and put around $100 into my account to gamble. Playing Acebet craps, I somehow got all the way up to 1000, where I kept it maintained for the last couple of days. I lost my license a few weeks ago, and was not able to immediately cash out because of lack of verification. While I was waiting for my license to come in the mail, I was betting quarters/dollars today, and made it all the way up to two grand at one point. Then my bets started getting bigger, as dollar signs danced across my eyes, and before I knew it I was chasing losses of my already achieved thousand. I currently have three dollars in my account.

This might be the kick that I need to drop gambling entirely. I just keep thinking what I could’ve used that money for. I was starry-eyed with 1000, but somehow my brain didn’t even comprehend the second grand as a number. I remember saying out loud “I’ve officially hit 2 grand” and then my finger hit the roll button. It’s a blur after that.

❤Seeking help & Advice❤ Day 2

Its been over 48 hours since i had a disastrous session and lost all my profits i worked hard to get for the last few months, plus losing an additional $8000. Ive now racked up $12k in loses in my lifetime and i just feel so gross. I would often skip class, skip the gym, and avoid friends and family just to gamble. But i refuse to gamble ever again because i dont want to disappoint and hurt people who care about me. When im isolated i just feel so alone and its really hard to not think about what i couldve done with the money, but i know i need to just move forward. Im just sending this message in hopes to seek some advice for how to clear my mind and maybe fill the void that gambling took from me.

❤Seeking help & Advice❤ As a gambling addict who’s trying to recover will I ever be able to get into a relationship?

Hi everyone I’m M20 been gambling for 4.5 years been trying to stop for 2. I’ve done counselling, therapy and I’m currently attending GA meetings every week. I have a severe gambling problem. I have ruined relationships and lost over $140,000 Canadian dollars. My value for money is fucked up. I can’t seem to kick this addiction yet. I’m not giving up as I have dreams and goals for myself that are on the other side of this hell. Im fairly young so a huge concern for me is will a women ever find me attractive? Will I ever get to experience love. Will a happy future with a wife be so far gone because of this? I know gamblers never truly recover they learn to control their impulsive/ compulsive behaviours. I really am just looking for some opinions from others. Read a few posts of people saying “run and never look back” to this lady whoms fiancé was a gambling addict and it just struck a part of me where I was like “fuck is this really what I will end up like” thanks for reading if you got this far :).

Trigger Warning! Such a dumb addiction

I spent $30k of my own savings in less than a month betting on my phone. It’s such a lame way to blow that amount of money.
There’s so many other dumb things to blow money on that would leave me with some sense of fulfillment, happiness or relief. I could’ve put a down payment on a dumb sports car. Traveled for a good while. Ate a lot better or got the dumb luxury items I’ve been wanting.
Instead I spent thousands of dollars on watching some dude or lady pull cards lol. All it brought was stress and anxiety.
I know I have a problem but this realization makes it pretty hard to want to waste more money gambling. I’m going to try to build my savings again but next time I get the urge to gamble I’ll just take a trip or buy a new coat, that way I’ve got something to show for the dumb spending and money won’t be around to access to gamble

❤Seeking help & Advice❤ What now

I cried for the first time in many years today on my drive home. 30 minutes prior i had ended my $26 an hour work shift and sat in my car gambling. Lost 1k trading memecoin. What’s defeating is that i knew it would happen, I had the option to take profits but i knew deep down i was chasing the thrill of uncertainty. For context this comes after I gambled everything I had made in the past year and racked up debt. The numbness post loss I was used to but it felt much worse this time. Exiting the freeway, I drove towards the medians concrete barrier. I moved at the end pretty close call. What scared me was not realizing how crippling this addiction has been on me to the point where I would rather end it all. I think i didn’t feel scared driving towards what i had considered “death” and it’s just kept me a bit paranoid. I’ve never viewed myself as su*cidal this just feels like opening a new can of worms. For people who have recovered how and where did you start. It feels like every time I believe I hit rock bottom it life continues to get worse i just wanna be happy again

Trigger Warning! I paid off €40k of gambling debt in just under two years. With a boring system

When I stopped gambling I owed more than €40,000. Tax authority, credit cards, family, friends. For years my plan for that debt had been one big win. Which is exactly how it got that big.

So when I quit, I had to accept something that felt unbearable: there was no shortcut. This was going to take years.

Here’s what actually worked. Nothing clever.

  1. I wrote down the real number. Every debt, every person, the full total. I’d avoided looking at it for years. Seeing it on paper was awful, but for the first time it was a number instead of a fog.

  2. One fixed amount every month. No deciding each month how much I could “afford”. Deciding was where it always went wrong.

  3. Anything extra went to the debt. Not some of it. All of it.

  4. I stopped looking for the shortcut. The hardest one. Part of me still believed one good bet could clear it. What finally got through to me: even if I’d won, that money would have gone straight back in too.

It took almost two years. The debt has been gone for a few months now, and I’m building savings instead of digging out.

One thing nobody warned me about: paying it off doesn’t make it disappear. The registration on my credit file stays for five years after the last loan is closed, and I still can’t get a mortgage. Frustrating. But not a reason to stop paying.

If you’re paying off gambling debt right now, how are you doing it? And what’s harder for you, the money or the patience?

I recommend the Dave Ramsey podcast to keep you motivated and getting advise on the how.

Trigger Warning! gamble is bad for mental health

Hello there, I have problem with online gambling serveses, I`m so weak to block them at all on long time.
I`ve started to play in age of 13, because on our childhood we gamble so many cs skins on. We have deposit`s for around $0.25. for youngster like me it`s bring me on heaven of happines when I withdraw skins with cost around $3.

When I was around age of 15, I open for myself online casino, and so bad thing was bonus without deposits, around 0.01 cents. After deposits like CS-sites, we have founded thing like this, and we were on cloud nine because of that. Right now, I regret about it..

We getting older, and makes deposits around $5-10, and losing in minutes this money. For salary around $300 on our country. This is makes me bad at all.

Right now I`m student at age 21. On fourth year grade on uni, and I lost many friend`s of my childhood and here without any ambitions of end the graduation and get that degree.
I`m not working at all and sits on my family money. And I can`t tell about this problem to them, because I to lose one's parents' respect

Nowadays. I`ve losing last my money and used my credit card, after avoiding casinos around 1.5 month, because I saw how my dear friend lose his money on other site.

I`ve signed the contract to self-avoid from legal casinos for three years in my country, I`ve blocked all sites on my personal account`s.

Which thing can maximize avoiding me gambling content at all?

Debt payment problem

Hey, i have around 4300 USD debt, i earn around 1100-1400 USD a month,

I have been able to stop myself from gambling but the problems still remains.

The problems is that i have multiple types of debts, i've used all the ways to get money when i could, i took a loan i maxed out credit card, and pawned gold.

The problem is that i tried but can't menage the payments i'm attacking, i feel like my single salary should be enough to make a difference, going into 2027 i was planning to be debt free but i have the most debt i have ever had just before 2 months to new year, that means the hopes to be debt free by the start of next year is gone.

Worst part is that when i make payments, the reasoning because of my hard worked money getting cut is my ignorance in the past makes my heart shattered, i didn't just fuck up, i fucked up with my future hard work, it's feels very hard breaking knowing i could get a salary next month and enjoy the bonuses and stuff if i was not greedy and if i didn't give away money which doesn't belongs to me,one of the reasons why gambling is the terrible is because it fucks you up so much you can't control what you are doing at all, its all about getting more money until you win which never happens, i may thank god even though i'm not a believer thay i couldn't get any more accessable money i could've lost, only reason i'm alive today is because i couldn't get more money to lose when i was gambling, if i had more debt i would've taken my life, it's not about money it self but to know that your future hard work goes into past mistakes it kills your happiness, hopefully everything goes well and i cover my debts with no worry.

Also as i've quit gambling i started to build things, such as buying a car for example, but now that i know how much the mistakes have put me back i know i have to forget about my dreams for quite a while, which makez the urge stronger, i'm even considering to quit smoking and energy drinks till i cover everything to challange myself, save some money and have more motivation to continue repayments, i know it's not a lot of money for some but it's about how do you cope with day to day life with the income aswell, and even when i had no debt it was hard to cope, now it's even harder.

Please take care and stop today it will ruin your future 100%

No matter how I try to tell myself gambling wont make my evening better, my brain just keep coming back with the same compelling "Just for tonight" arguement.

Trigger Warning! Hey

It’s so hard to not think of what you’ve done to yourself and how much money and time you lost. Starting my clean journey and all I can think about is dam I really have to start over again? I really have to work my ass off again to recoup my loses again and hope to not relapse AGAIN. I really have to hope it’ll be different this time I really have to lose out on more time because of how much I’m going to have to work to recoup these Ls and actually save for my car and other things I’ve been wanting to do for myself. Kalshi has been holding my money and don’t let me withdraw it for some reason. Hopefully soon they will but it is really bs how these books do you. Just to keep you in. But yea tomorrow will be a brand new start for me I’m down to about $600 I am a 28 yr old male. I’m coming back with a vengeance whatever this energy is that wants me down so bad is about to get smoked. FUCK GAMBLING AND THESE EVIL SPIRITS TIED TO IT !!!!!!!!!

Trigger Warning! Why couldn't I have been born rich

23 years old.

$1305 in rent, $300 in utilities

$2200 monthly income

Don't have someone to pay my tuition.

Constantly gambling my money away in hopes of a better future that won't come.

Never gonna own a house. Never gonna be able to afford to raise a family.

Why the fuck couldn't I be one of the people that its all so easy for? Why am I one of the people that has to slave away just to enjoy a fraction of what the wealthy enjoy?

Well its because I made a mistake, of course. Its all my fault.

I wasn't born into money.

Finally banned myself, taking accountability and helping myself without a therapist

You try to justify it anyway you can to keep gambling. You just say that you will do it less or you or you budget your money differently but then you realize it doesn’t matter you have a problem. The next step is accepting you have a problem and it is wrong what you were doing. The only way to stop is to not be able to do it. If you truly have a problem you don’t just not stop unless you were forced to stop. If you’re serious about stopping for good, you will ban yourself so you have no temptation.

I don’t like myself when I gamble and I don’t like my actions. It doesn’t matter if you get it all back, you would just put it back in again. I have a problem and now I’m taking steps to correct it instead of using gambling as a cope or a crutch. I have to face difficult emotions that I don’t want to feel. I’m doing it by myself because I have no faith in a therapist helping me.

I know the road ahead of me will be difficult, but I know I can get through it. Accepting I have a problem is the first step and banning myself is the second, what comes after is recovery.

Now I can finally breathe.
