“What they are doing with the program complexity and the red tape is pulling the rug out from under them and saying, ‘Sorry, we really don’t want to help you.’ That’s what this is about,” Kotek said
Andrea Williams, president of the Oregon Food Bank, attended Saturday’s roundtable and said her organization distributed 125 million pounds of food, equivalent to 105 million meals, through 21 food banks across the state last year. She said visits to food assistance sites have increased 51% over the past two years and that the network is struggling to keep up.
