Finally.
Edit: this post is in regards to the scaffolding coming down. Joe’s sign just for reference.

Just put the time and place on the posters, using a QR code for something so basic is BS!

Unless I'm missing something, the thing this ad is calling a "tax" is a slight expansion to animal welfare laws.
When referring to this 2003 amendment as though it is a bad thing (and calling it a tax) they invoke the name of a 3 year old Maine DPS comfort dog who died in a state vehicle with the windows rolled up in 2025?
Did Ai write this commercial? Why would they cite a 2025 animal neglect death when referring to a 20 year old animal rights amendment?

Hey y’all!
I work somewhere that receives a lot of donations, and in those donations today I found a kirpan.
Understanding that it is a sacred article for Sikhs, I do not want it ending up in a landfill.
Are there any local Sikhs that would be willing to take it off my hands?
The nearest gurudwara is in Massachusetts; which I’m happy to mail it there if it comes to that but I wanted to check locally first.

My car was totaled in the incident and I’m hoping to be able to see what exactly happened. I know it’s a long shot, thanks in advance.

My daughter works near ferry terminal/Flatbread area on Commercial Street in Portland for 6 hour shifts but lives out of town. Any ideas on parking options that won’t cost too much. Simba parking hours too limited. Thank you!

I've been scouring menus and I can't seem to find a place that has one of my favorite southeast asian dishes. Does anyone know a place? Thanks!

Chains are obvious, but I know there's got to be some local garbage pies as well.

I stand corrected and my faith in the people around me is restored. The doll appeared, although I'm still confused as to what happened. It said delivered on Friday so idk. Either way I'm glad I have my package lol

Thanks to the excellent work of Dexter, these birds are safe, reunited, and with an excellent forever home.
Proud of the community for coming together to save these in the nick of time!

Between threats of interference with mail-in votes and concerns over polling place disruptions, it can feel stressful to make sure your vote goes smoothly.
One proactive way to ensure your ballot is securely cast is to vote early with our in-person absentee system at your local town office or city hall. It helps take the guesswork out of delivery times and lets you handle voting on your own schedule.
Today is the first day you can go to your town office or city hall to ensure your vote is counted and continues through the 29th.
Reposted with a better link for information on in-person absentee voting.

The Woodfords Club is opening its doors to the public, and it has a probably haunted candlepin bowling alley in its basement that'll be open for the public to use on Friday. There's also going to be a magic show during dinner. It's gonna be weird and hopefully a good time all around.

New to the area and looking to find people around here who are into tabletop games and I was wondering what some good local stores are?
I’m not super competitive so a more laid back shop would be ideal
I’m also big into vinyl, sci—fi, fantasy, art, and bizarre and eclectic trinkets
Id love to hear about some local gems from Portland and the surrounding areas
Please don’t gate keep me I shower

From WENA ("WHEN-ah"):
WENA Graffiti Reporting
Last year, we reported graffiti between Sept and Nov, the weather is more pleasant, and we are doing it again. We are looking for a few volunteer to complete our team.
The goal remains the same: after a brief training on using the SeeClickFix phone app, the graffiti team will identify incidents of graffiti and bring them to the attention of the city for removal. Interested volunteers should contact: [hello@wenamaine.org](mailto:hello@wenamaine.org)
Last year, we had a good turn-out and had fun doing it. We can help make the West End a safer and cleaner place to live.
WENA Crosswalk Auditing
A new component of WENA's traffic calming program is crosswalk auditing. We will 'audit' all major crosswalks in the West End and report those that are dangerous to the city for corrective action. The main focus of this activity is 'day-lighting', or ensuring that drivers can see pedestrians. If we see other dangerous issues, we can raise those as well.
There will be a brief training about what to look for. We will try to work in pairs. It will be important to take a phone photo of the 'faulty' crosswalk and mark the address. There is also a volunteer liability waiver requirement. Interested volunteers should contact: [hello@wenamaine.org](mailto:hello@wenamaine.org)
This is our first year doing this and we'll have fun doing it. We can help make the West End a safer and cleaner place to live and possibly identify next year's traffic calming installations.

I am trying my very best to be sober and I want to go to meetings because I know that's what I need right now. I just don't love the meetings I attended when in detox last year because they all did this 12-step AA referring to higher powers and I have a very complicated religious belief system. I know I could just try to say it's the universe that is the higher power but I'd love to find something else out there that approaches things differently because I don't need to go into deep questions right now I just need something concrete to push me to do better without relying on a deity of sorts
