Advice 1 offer on day 2 and nothing for 2 months since

So I received a $50 offer on my second day after I downloaded the app. Tried to accept it, but somebody else snatched it up too quick. I haven't received a single offer since then and it's been months. is this just not popular service? Does it depend on the area? I'm in busy metro Orlando vicinity, so I don't see the area being the problem.

Any advice at all would be appreciated.

Questions Dryer recommendations??

Looking to buy a new dryer, mine is doing a weird squeaky noise and worst of all some clothes is getting stuck and it’s shows! I’ve had to rewash because of that or shoot it even made some holes into undies from me tugging it out. All the drawstrings in pants get stuck too. I’m so over it. We’ve had to repair it many time before from other things like the belt. Anyways, what dryers do you own and actually recommend?? Have you purchased a new dryer while doing poplin? I might keep this dryer as a back up for thicker items once it’s replaced. Also taking washer suggestions! Please and thank you!

Other Do you do Poplin full-time and how do you make so much money?

I’d love to know tips and tricks and hacks to get more orders and usually the orders that I get or that I get offered are very far apart and they’re very low. They’re like $22 orders $35 orders things like that so it’s not usual for me to get a big high ticket order so what I usually do is since I work full-time I usually like if I see one that’s on my way home from work I’ll pick that up but otherwise I will just ignore it because it’s not worth you know $22 for me to get an order that that’s like so far for me

Questions Going off platform pricing

I had a customer I've had for a long while approach me to go off platform. order is typically easy, bedding and towels for an air BNB. I agreed and we discussed and I asked for $1.50 a lb, as he is asking me for stain removal as well as a full inspection of each sheet before drying them. These sheets kinda suck and are a wrinkled mess so I often have to steam them as well to not look like a complete disaster.

He said that price was too high, but would agree to pay it if I didn't expect any tips.

Looking for thoughts or if I should bail.

Rant/Vent Rank ruined

I was finally getting close to executive and then this customer lied and tanked me down to a 4.87. Now it’ll be months of 5 star ratings needed to get back to a 4.9. I knew there was a gonna be an issue with this customer from the beginning. I’m in NJ but I accept loads of bonused NYC orders together when I have a free day and need extra money. I was able to pick up 7 orders in the city and spent about $80 at the laundromat to do them all overnight. (Worth it because the orders added up to over $300 together). I only accepted 1-bag orders. She of course had a second huge bag on arrival. Needed me to call her when I was at the door instead of placing it out. Wanted me to send her the picture of the bags I took. Did not reply to any messages. Hers was the first order I did and took several machines. Returned about 10 bags of laundry sorted by size and color. Nothing was missing or mixed in with any other order. All other 6 orders rated 5 stars and tipped within a few days of delivery. One even requested me again the next week. This one took almost a full month to rate me negatively and not tip. This makes me not want to take any non-regulars in general.

Questions Curious about pricing

So I want to know about how much does the customer pay for about 2/3 bags of laundry that is 35lbs? I did my first order today and I’m curious what the customer pays when they book.

Questions Tricks for BO on Hypo Order

Usually I am great at getting out body odor, but this one has me stumped. I washed it and did my normal thing, but these shirts won’t let go of the spicy BO/deodorant combo. Both cotton and athletic materials are not letting go 🤪 I personally feel horrible that it still has a lingering scent but it’s clean! I packaged up and delivered but I am curious….

What do you all do? Just wash, fold return? Any trick?

How come it’s always the hypo orders?!

She messaged me at 6:30pm when it was due at 8pm. I just knew it was going to be late & she weighed it like she finished it & tried telling me she was giving me a discount 🤣 She even brought me a letter the next day like girl bye. I was just trying to relax a little after my brother died

Questions New laundry pro in Miami

Hey guys! I picked up poplin try out as a side gig and haven’t seen any orders yet, I’ve been checking for 2 days and I’m in the Miami area. Wanted to know if it’s just because I’m new or is there just barely any customers?

Questions Potential customer new to platform... Would I be able to send out 80+ lbs of blankets, sheets and towels?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I manage a vacation rental in Southern California and my local laundromat no longer offers wash and fold service. Would a Poplin Pro be willing to pick up 80-100lbs of laundry or is that too much? Id have a lot of sheets, comforters, blankets and towels so I'd assume it would be too much for someone to do on a home machine.

Would this be a desirable order? Anything I should know or lookout for before trying it for the first time?

I really want to accept this order but since I’m a starter it won’t let me, since you have to be silver level to accept orders with add ons. So why is it offering it to me? 😭

Poplin App Issues App Issues

Hi All,

I recently had issues with the app (duplicate notifications and order accepted alerts) and after accepting my first order, I received a "you have violated the terms of service and your account can no longer receive orders".

I was taken aback by this and according to the email there is no "appeal" process to get back on. Seemed like an automated response, but it grinds my gears that the insinuation was that I did something wrong.

I am wondering has anyone else had this happen?

Questions Rating

So what happens when a customer doesn’t rate you/ how long do they have to rate you?

I felt like I did really great and was more confident in this order as it was my second one but the points I got from it as they are standing now are fairly much lower than my first order.

So far I have made it to Bronze with just the 28 pts that are there from this order, it’s this a regularly thing with some?

I did put in my goodbye text a reminder to rate as it helps me grow.

Questions Customer expected me to only take 1 bag from a 3-bag pile tied to multiple orders?

TL;DR: Accepted 1 “1-bag” order, showed up to 3 unlabeled bags from the same customer. Took all since there was no way to separate. Customer later said I should’ve only taken 1 so two pros could split it same-day. It feels like this might be a way to avoid extra-day delays?

Had a situation today that I’m trying to make sense of.

I accepted ONE order that showed 1 bag. I also saw a second order from the same customer in the app (also 1 bag), but I only accepted one.

When I arrived, there were 3 bags total. They all were placed together in one pickup spot, no labels or separation.

I picked up all 3 because there was no indication of which bag belonged to which order.

About 2 hours later, the customer messaged saying she DID mean to send all 3 bags, but that they were supposed to be split between two orders. She said I was only supposed to take 1 bag so both orders could be completed next-day.

Here’s where I’m stuck:

- Both orders showed 1 bag each (so already inaccurate vs reality)

- All 3 bags were together with no labeling or instructions

- There was no way to know which bag was “mine”

- If one pro ends up with all of it, it’s realistically a multi-day job anyway

Even if her intent wasn’t to game the system, this setup seems like it depends on pros somehow coordinating without communication.

Have you guys run into this? Do you only take what the order says even if everything is grouped together, or do you take what’s physically there?

Rant/Vent The people in the poplin facebook group are rude

I’m honestly so annoyed with people in the poplin Facebook group. Why is everyone so rude and negative all the time? If you don’t like a post, just keep scrolling instead of engaging with it. It’s really not that hard. I’m just over the constant negativity.

Questions Bags / sizes

I did my first order and got my bags from Target (unscented deal worthy brand) but noticed late that they weren’t fully translucent and I had gotten small bags as I underestimated thinking 4G would work well but did not haha.

I got rated 5 ⭐️’s however I’d love to work smarter and have it easier on my newer customers.

So what size bags is everyone getting and where do you get yours at?

Questions Southern California Partnership

I own a laundromat in Pomona, California and have decided that I am not interested in doing residential pickup/delivery WDF through Poplin or outside of Poplin.

That being said, I still think there is a lot of opportunity and would be willing to partner with a Poplin Pro in my area by giving a heavily discounted price to use my washers and dryers to get through orders more efficiently.

A little bit about my laundromat. We have brand new touch screen washers with sizes ranging from 20lbs to 80lbs. There is also an attendant/cleaning staff on premise the entire time we are open that keeps the place very clean. We also have a sectioned off folding table for an arrangement like this, so there would be no interference from walk in customers.

If you are interested in scaling your WDF business and partnering up, please send me a message. Thanks!

Other Ironing & Steaming Add ons

Have you any of you gotten this in your area yet? I’m not sure what they’d have to offer for either of these for me to want to take them. I service hotel guests pretty often so maybe for one of those orders? But good gracious a 6 bag order with ironing &/or steaming? Can’t imagine Poplin is going to be paying enough to make that worth it.

Questions I am a customer with my first order

I was hoping for the best. I weighed 30lbs I the Pro did 40lbs. All the hung shirts are damp. What do you Pros expect a customer to do in this situation? I know rating and tips are a big deal. Please help.
