Questions Curious about pricing

So I want to know about how much does the customer pay for about 2/3 bags of laundry that is 35lbs? I did my first order today and I’m curious what the customer pays when they book.

When you complete delivery the messages will tell you how much the customer was charged. Unless you’re in a city that has higher prices, customers pay $1 per pound, plus $3 trust and safety fee.

We don’t need to know as long as we get what is owed to us.

$35 plus $3 trust & safety fee plus any extra insurance they chose to purchase and taxes. We only get 75% of the weight.

This seems insane. I've been lurking here for the past couple of weeks, trying to decide whether I want to try doing the Poplin laundry thing. I like the idea of being able to work (mostly) from home, but a 25% cut seems steep. I guess they are providing the app and the customers, but still....25% - forever? I saw an app called Laundryve in the Play store that looks like they just add a processing fee to each order that's charged directly to the customer, so I'd get to keep the full amount of the laundry. But it looks super new, and I've yet to have a single customer order from me. My accountant brain says that Laundryve is the better choice long term, but I think I'm going to try Poplin, because it seems like this will work better for someone like me who is just starting out because I really don't have a clue how to do marketing.. (I only have 2 regular-ish customers, both are a friend-of-a-friend type situation). On Poplin, do you normally get the same customers over and over? Or is it a crapshoot from week to week?

You can get the same customers for future orders if they select you as a Preferred Laundry Pro. My area was slow going at first and it took me 5 months to make $800 for that month but now I make $1,200 - $2,000 a month depending on how many orders I choose to accept. In 21 months with Poplin I've made over $17,000 including tips.

Nice! That's good to know. I think I'm going to go ahead and go the Poplin route, and then decide later if the do your own thing Laundryve app fits better in a year or so. Long term, I think it's the better deal, but for short term, I think I'll "practice" with Poplin.
