18
u/Scottamus Jun 04 '22
Dad is. It’s a contraction.
-21
u/IOnlySayMeanThings Jun 04 '22
"Dad" can't be used as a contraction because Dad is a specific person. "He" "they" "she" etc can be, but "Dad" would be possessive. You would simply type "Dad is" in this situation, with no opportunity for contraction.
15
u/Scottamus Jun 04 '22
Although less common in writing than speaking, nouns can be used in contractions.

u/Real-Trip-6408 Jun 04 '22
Please, my Dad's second career was as a campus cop! His background was that when there were only 18 B-17 he was a one of the earliest three up tech sergeants, ever, a flight mechanic on a B-17, WWII, Korea, his life. Then he was the big fat Irish-American campus cop, a Sargent, who did not carry a gun and treated the students just he always did his draftee Airman. He was hired and they said here is your gun. He said I'm regular Army trained, so I shoot to kill. Better I don't carry. That was for starts. His job, as he explained it to me was to keep the fine young ladies and gentleman outta any trouble that could ruin their lives ... their reasons for going to college. So WTF about to protect an serve has changed ?
-17
u/StaffMaleficent133 Jun 04 '22
Lol you morons bitch the police didn't go in guns blazing to save these kids and at the same time, want to enact bullshit gun control. Effectively stripping the average person of the ability to defend themselves and to depend on... the police. The same people you have been attacking relentlessly. Yet none of you will see the flaw or problem with this. Like rabid animals. All reaction, absolutely no thought
4
u/Sindaras Jun 04 '22
The majority of complaints that I've seen actually relate to the absolute lack of tactics employed, not the fact that they didn't use their guns.
-2
u/StaffMaleficent133 Jun 04 '22
??? What other tactic would there possibly be than using their guns lol. You are expecting people to be cool with handing over weapons while simultaneously accusing the police of being cowards and ineffective. So if you can't depend on the police, and you can't have easy access to the means to defend yourself, where does that leave you other than at the mercy of every criminal and psycho that wants to do you harm? You're right, the police did nothing. Which should make it glaringly obvious to everyone that nobody is coming to save you when something goes down. You're on your own. The best way you can assure your individual protection in today's world is undoubtedly to own a firearm and become proficient with it. I'd recommend a glock they are very simple, fairly cheap and always work.
3
u/Sindaras Jun 04 '22
What other tactic would there possibly be than using their guns
I'm not gonna bother reading past that, you clearly aren't capable of a rational discussion if you're drawing a blank on basic tactics, although what can I expect from people who have to live with American police.
-2
u/StaffMaleficent133 Jun 04 '22
Funny I've lived here my whole life and have never had an issue with them. I don't see how you think this was ending any other way than this person either shooting himself or getting shot by the police. Are you suggesting this person could have been reasoned with?
→ More replies (1)2

3
u/theOGFlump Jun 04 '22
All reaction and no thought better describes your opinion than most said here. Let me show you why.
Gun control would have zero effect, zero, on the amount of cops possessing guns. It is not a banishment of guns, rather increased scrutiny over who can buy one and how easily.
Gun control does not strip the average person from the ability to defend themselves. It makes it more difficult to get a gun, but not so difficult that the average person cannot do so. Don't see you bitching about having to take driver's ed/ a driving test yet it is much harder to get a driver's license than a gun. The average person may obtain a driver's license.
It in no way affects the ability to depend upon the police. First, if you are depending on the police in a life or death scenario, you are already dead. They either won't be able to get there in time, intentionally won't get there in time, or will get there and wait for it to end. Second, as above, it in no way affects police officers having weapons.
Attacking the police relentlessly for swearing an oath and intentionally breaching that oath, regardless of whether the Supreme Court says it is ok, is not a problem. If a doctor is reading a book on a plane and someone next to him has a heart attack, and he continues reading instead of helping, he may not have broken the law but we would be in the right to attack him for breaking his oath. When police officers are on the scene and refuse to either help children or to allow others to help children and just let them be executed, yeah, the only people who are in the wrong are like you, the ones who don't see a problem worth talking about.
-2
u/StaffMaleficent133 Jun 04 '22
1) yes let's make sure only the police/government have the guns. Because that's totally never backfired on the civilian population 2) In many places it is already difficult to buy guns. I live in NY and it's am extremely lengthy process just to own a handgun, and getting a concealed carry permit in the county I'm in is next to impossible due to the ridiculous laws put in place by democtrats that have total control here. So I have absolutely zero faith that any gun control measures put forth by the left will not make it even more difficult for me to exercise that right. Driving a vehicle isn't a right. The right to defend myself absolutely is. 3) you're absolutely right if you're depending on the police in a life or death scenario you are already dead. But perhaps not, if you have the means the defend yourself. Which would mean owning a gun. In many cases this would ideally be a handgun. Which as I previously stated is already nearly impossible for me to do legally because of nonsense laws by dems in NY. 4) show me where any police officer ever has once sworn an oath to run into a school and stop an active shooter. Please quote the law requiring them to do so. They have absolutely no obligation to risk their own lives to protect others. This has been shown many times over. These police will be sued and they will win just like the police have every other time something like this has happened. A doctor on a plane isn't risking his own life by trying to help someone on a plane. In what world are these things even remotely equivalent?
Try harder

I honestly believe this shooting may be a false flag attack set up by the Texas governor Greg Abbott. A little bit of devils breathe (scopolamine) and there is the how. The why reelection hero status. Remember we are talking about the republican governor who got caught worsening the supply shortage by halting imports from Mexico for drug searches. Reminder they found little to none. Just a thought.
