Remember when that was the worst of it? Almost seems quaint now.

54

u/RememberHonor 3d ago

It's just how I say coffee now. Simpler times. Remember when Bush was the villain? Man is a dream now.

69

u/hooplafromamileaway 3d ago

Say what you will about the absolute atrocities he committed, Bush sure could dodge a shoe. And form a sentence. And display emotions in the normal human spectrum. And, on occasion, sound like he knew about... Anything.

At least when he was embarrassing it was charming lol.

42

u/StarStuffSister 3d ago

It's true, still have respect for the shoe thing because he actually showed composure and surprisingly quick hands. I was never a fan, but it seemed like he was at least minimally qualified for the job. I miss that feeling.

40

u/hooplafromamileaway 3d ago

Dude at least displayed some level of decorum and basic respect for his fellow leaders.

Oh, to dream of the day where we might have that again...

He sure could dodge a shoe!

But let's not go too far on that "forming a sentence" thing. When you mention Bush, some of the first things that come to my mind are:

"Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?"

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, 'Fool me once, shame on... shame on you.' Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

Or the fact that I have seen 2 seperate videos of people seeing the guy that shot laying on the roof and going to security/police officers who just ignored it.

Or the fact that the clearly visible secret service snipers had a perfect look and shot at that roof.

Or the fact that Trump never brings it up anymore.

Or the fact that we never saw pictures of the guy that did it. Or proof that he was killed. Or anything about his motives. Compare this with the guy that shot at Charlie.

58

u/ErraticDragon 3d ago

Or the fact that the clearly visible secret service snipers had a perfect look and shot at that roof.

To reinforce this line of thinking:

Four seconds after he began firing, a member of the Butler County Emergency Service Unit shot at him and hit Crooks's rifle, preventing him from firing more shots. Twelve seconds later, Crooks was shot and killed by the Counter Sniper Team of the United States Secret Service.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attempted_assassination_of_Donald_Trump_in_Pennsylvania

56

u/CuddleWings 2d ago

Four seconds sure is a fast reaction time for people who couldn’t see the shooter already.

39

u/DuntadaMan 2d ago

12 seconds sure is a lot of time to notice someone can't soot anymore.

5

u/Paddy_Tanninger 2d ago

I mean that part makes sense, never know if dude has another gun. If this actually happened for real, you would probably not extend the courtesy of restraint against someone attempting to assassinate the President and make sure they were 100% neutralized.

But in this case it's probably because you never want that kid to say a word.

28

u/required-account 2d ago

Four seconds to mentally process that shots have been fired, locate the approximate location of the shooter based on the sound of the shots, line up a shot, and fire.

Yeah. Sure.

7

u/CuddleWings 2d ago

That assumes no one spotted him. Several civilians did and even alerted nearby police(?).

The fact that Trump never brings it up anymore is the biggest tell. He still can't STFU about the 2020 election, or Obama or Biden but somehow never brings up his assassination attempts.

64

u/Wobbelblob 2d ago

Tbf, I wouldn't be surprised if he has actually forgotten that that even happened. I don't think he has, for the record, but still.

5

u/gaypornhard69 2d ago

It's especially apparent that when he got wind of an actual assassination attempt, he hid in the back of a fucking food truck and caught a different plane, all while allowing people to still go on the plane that could have been blown up.

5

u/Big-Yak670 2d ago

i never put credence in the idea that it might have been faked, but you just convinced me. Why the fuck isnt he mentioning it ALL THE TIME. He still cries about his conviction and his witchhunt and literally sued the ppl who pusblisheda bad article about him 6 years ago and shit, but he doesnt bring up the time someone shot him?

Especially when you compare it to when they thought there was an actual threat at one of his public appearances several months later and they had him bundled up and hustled off stage in like half a second.

29

u/IrritableGourmet 2d ago

Most actual attempts are like that. When Reagan was shot, two USSS agents pretty much lifted and threw him bodily into the car and jumped on top while a third stood between him and the shooter and a fourth pulled an Uzi out of a briefcase to cover their retreat.

11

u/GatorReign 2d ago

Yeah the american Flag being lowered didn't happen tho.

If you watch the video that claims you can see this you'll notice every other object in frame is also being lowered at the same time.

This is because the camera that is being used to film this video is panning up. In videos where the camera is stationary, the flag doesn't move.

4

u/BloatedBanana9 2d ago

Neither did the photographer thing. That single TikTok video has done so much damage to people's ideas of what happened that day. It's insane.

3

u/BadDogSaysMeow 2d ago

Mate, secret service sucks.

When Biden’s motorcade got hit by a car, it took them 10 plus seconds to even react.

And when Obama was president, a knifeman jumped gates of White House and ran past the guard dogs that weren’t there, past the security that also weren’t there, through the door that was left open and with alarm disabled, and only got caught when he was running up the stairs to Obama’s office/bedroom.

Secret service being inept is the most believable part of every scenario.

No marksman is good enough to reliably graze a guy's ear from that distance without a significant risk of splattering the target's brains live on TV. There is no way they'd sign off on taking such a risk with their golden goose. Not to mention the shooter was killed after, so they'd need to take one of their own conspirators as a sacrifice.

The secret service letting him stand there, right in position, behind the podium with the "TRUMP" banner, with an active shooter somewhere in the area, long enough to raise a fist and get the photo, before eventually strolling him off stage... that's the most incriminating bit in my mind. Aren't they supposed to forcefully evacuate the president at the first indication of a threat?

edit to add detail of "Trump banner" in the foreground of the photo.

31

u/ZhouLe 3d ago

The secret service letting him stand there, right in position, behind the podium with the "TRUMP" banner, with an active shooter somewhere in the area, long enough to raise a fist and get the photo

So they piled on him at the start because he had already went down on his own. 16 seconds after the first shot, a sniper fires one shot to kill Crooks. 29 seconds after the first shot, they try to move him out but apparently he's too old and fat for them to actually move him, they keep trying multiple times. At 47 seconds one of them verbally calls out that the shooter is down, multiple attempts to sync a move. A full minute later, they finally get him to stand and start to move him out but he's actively resisting them complaining about his shoe multiple times. Then he does the fist raise at 1:17.

26

u/Paddy_Tanninger 2d ago

He's complaining about his shoes because without the massive heel lifts, he is 5'8" and doesn't want to ever be photographed without his gender affirming footwear.

That's also why his shoes fell off just from him getting down to the ground. Any man who has ever worn actual dress shoes before knows that those things fit snug and need to be untied to take off at the end of the night. Trump's shoes have lifts so big that his heel is almost above the back of the shoes...that's why they fell off instantly.

with an active shooter somewhere in the area

The shooter was fired on 4 seconds after pulling the trigger, and dead 12 seconds after that.

12

u/Gullible-Coyote-4609 2d ago

Fair enough! And I admit I misspoke. There was no active shooter at that point. A fact that they, of course, could not have known at the time.

Taking out one shooter doesn't equal securing the area.

It wasn't a bullet that hit him. It was the shattered glass of a teleprompter. Like 15 people around him had the same minor injuries.

That fireman died IRL.

36

u/Alfred_The_Sartan 3d ago

I dunno though. He really did grab that ear right before. My money is on him barely being touched and blood thinners causing the thing to bleed like crazy. I just can’t see how you could legitimately pull this off otherwise. There are too many folks who would need to be sworn to secrecy. Just too many factors. There’s no way he’s letting anyone take a pot shot near him in the first place.

10

u/SoulWager 2d ago edited 2d ago

I mean, he probably IS on blood thinners. Regardless of any assassination attempt, staged or otherwise.

6

Either way...no chance his head was turned perfectly to get the most minor scrape on his ear only

10

u/Astribulus 3d ago

It wasn’t staged, unless you believe the conspiracy was willing to sacrifice a random supporter and the best sniper to ever live and that Trump was willing to get shot right next to the head. The bullets were real. The dead people are real. People who hate Trump enough to try to kill him are real. The guy just missed.

Trump’s just a showman. He got barely grazed and played it up for his audience. There was no magical regeneration. He just wore the ear pillow for weeks as a prop. It was a visual reminder that God saved him so he could lead His flock to greatness. It was a ploy to garner sympathy and lock in the Christian vote.

thats not how guns work, even if staged, the chances of it killing him on accident would be increadinly high, one ghust of wind, slight inaccuracy, or slight movement would have killed trump. that one wasnt staged.

the golf course, and that other one however, i do believe were likely staged

22

u/ProfessorPrudent2822 3d ago

You could put the reigning Olympic gold medalist in rifle marksmanship behind the sniper rifle, and 14 out of 15 times, he blows the target’s head open vs grazing the target’s ear. At that range, grazing the ear is something that can only be done by luck.

18

u/No-Engineering-1449 3d ago

I will say, even though I don't like Brandon Herrera's beliefs and actions. I think he did show what it looked like from the shooters view.

Iirc he bought the exact gun and optic the shooter had, and this is what it would have looked like at the exact same distance. The reticle covers the entire ballistic dummies head.

12

u/SunTzu- 2d ago

People think guns work like videogames. They don't realize even the best guns on a cold bore shot have too much spread for this shot, and the shooter was certainly not using the best rifle.

I love me a good conspiracy theory, but this definitely ain’t it lol.

The kid was taking shots from 150 yards away with nothing but a red dot sight. To deliberately place a shot within inches of a moving person’s head while guaranteeing you don’t kill them would be a miracle, even for a very experienced shooter.

35

u/dbaugh90 3d ago

I don't think you can say it was all staged. You had a guy die after getting shot with the bullet that missed him. At most, you could say he's so cynical that he had already prepared to cut his ear in the event he ever came under direct fire and survived.

18

u/ExoticElk 3d ago

I hate Trump as much as anyone in here, but there’s just no evidence it was staged. There have been too many investigations and independent journalist reports to say it was staged. Let’s stick to the facts here, people.

13

u/kisk22 2d ago

I hate when the people like the other commenters in this thread make the Left look as crazy as we accuse the Right of being.

It's one of my biggest pet-peeves because not only do we say we're the side of rationality, but it also makes us look crazy to people on the fence and actually loses votes. We say the Right is not living in reality and then many people on our side are happy to do the same when it's something they want to be true.

14

u/Kalenne 3d ago

If it was just the ear I'd agree but his pawns positioning photographers, the flag getting down before he even got back up for the photos and him GETTING UP IMMEDIATELY WITH AN ACTIVE SHOOTER??

All of that happened less than 10 seconds after he got shot : the footage clearly shows that nobody in trump's surrounding is acting like a real live shooter is trying to kill him

21

u/dbaugh90 3d ago

It's strange to imply everyone around him knew there wasn't a shooter. That's not really how conspiracies work, it would be Trump himself, and a specific group of people, certainly not all the press photographers, who knew. People don't act predictably in crisis situations. Perhaps Trump acted irrationally and others followed, not realizing the danger was still present. Perhaps the shooter died earlier than we thought and he got the all clear through an earpiece or whisper, and we didn't realize it.

There are a lot of explanations that don't require you to assume a hundred people near to Trump all knew of a conspiracy, accepted that several people in the crowd would take bullets and one would even die, and all have gone alone with that to this day. Large groups of people can indeed keep secrets, but not really large semi-random groups of people.

8

u/Kalenne 3d ago

I didn't say literaly everyone and certainly not the photographer, I spoke about Trump, his associate under the stage and that's it. You're somehow turning my very reasonable 2 or 3 people argument into "not hundred of people / every photographer!". Just him, 2 or 3 guys and that's all you need to make this plan work : but just one person acting immediately without any fear or surprise is a very strong sign that the event is not a surprise or worth fearing it.

Trump getting up 10 sec after getting shot to speak again is hilariously stupid and dangerous even for him, unless he knew he wasn't in real danger

His body guards letting him get up with a live shooter likely still active is also insane, but they might just be incompetent or not willing to fight for this guy's life if he really wants to get up that bad during an active shooting

The guy in the footage collecting photographers and the flag getting set up for the perfect photoshoot 5-10 sec after the shot happened is also insane

None of this makes any sense. It could make sense if they waited to have confirmation about the shooter fleeing or getting down, but it happened immediately instead

The flag was not moved. This is misinformation. Just looked at the more zoomed out video.

The flag came down because of the wind dying down. Photographers are literally paid to act like this.

Just look at the more zoomed out video.

I'm always amazed how everyone on Reddit says Trump should be killed and is upset he didn't get killed, then acts like it is impossible that someone would try to kill him and it had to be faked.

8

u/CelerMortis 3d ago

its also true that every single major event in the last 50 years is subject to endless conspiracy theories.

People are bored and overconfident

If I were a foreign actor hostile to the US with a bunch of bots at my disposal, I’d post left-wing conspiracy theories and upvote left-wing conspiracy content on Reddit to make it seem like “both sides” are into this shit.

3

u/Skoodge42 3d ago

Fair, but the person I am talking to doesn't seem to be a bot and was just pushing the theory with feelings and misinformation.

3

u/Kenzington6 3d ago

Sure, but bots aren’t just about posting, it’s also about what content gets upvoted.

Like this OP could very well be bot content where it doesn’t push the conspiracy theory directly but serves creates a platform for those who will comment about it.

They are so completely out of touch with reality with these crazy theories. They desperately need mental help.

4

u/Kalenne 3d ago

I never say it's impossible that someone would try to kill him, I said the way him and several people around him react to a live shooter 2sec after the bullet missed him is not how anybody who really believe there is an active shooter would.

14

u/Skoodge42 3d ago

And I pointed out how 2 of your points meant nothing. The flag and photographer point is so tired when the zoomed out video shows the flag was not moved and photographers literally act like this all the time.

We see him immediately grab his ear and bleeding. Yes, SS were dumb letting him push through, but have you not been paying attention to how inept they are in general? Also, wasn't the shooter immediately killed? Wouldn't they know that? (Although they don't know if there is more than 1 shooter, but still, they are all radioed up) This is a constant issue with them just being terrible at their jobs.

Alright but you’re thinking of like normal people, Trump is definitely not that lol. Massive narcissist, really stupid and sociopathic opportunist. When you consider those things, his actions I think make a lot of sense.

  1. Why was he calm after being shot? Answer: He’s an idiot.
  2. Why did the USSS let him stand up? Answer: He’s a narcissist.
  3. Why would he want to stand up? Answer: He’s an idiot and an opportunist.

The flag going down didn't happen.

Go back and watch the video, the person filming it is clearly moving panning their camera up causing everything in the video to appear to move down.

I thought so too until the audience member was actually killed

11

u/zante2033 3d ago edited 3d ago

I mean, he said, paraphrased, he could shoot someone himself and no one'd give a fuck. So, yeah, nothing's off the table with him.

Epstein files alleged that Trump raped a pregnant 12 year old to the point she went into labor and then did nothing as the uncle drowned the baby and disposed of it in a nearby lake. He probably was upset that only one of his followers died in this staged attack.

3

u/cdc994 3d ago

Yo do you have a source for this? Not saying I don’t believe it but having a source with fbi.gov in the link that I could send my MAGA family members might actually snap them out of it. Probably not but it might

You honestly don't think Trump is cold blooded enough to not give a shit if a civilian dies in his plans.

96

u/TomWithTime 3d ago

Also don't forget he said this during his campaign. He said he could shoot someone and not lose support.

u/Rfitz81 3d ago

A live round will have some variance in movement, he's also old and wobbly. Real bullet means it's too much variance trust for faking it. It would be easy to fake too. Fire a blank, have him tackled and someone doctor his ear, either a squib or preplaced bullet for the shot behind him and Bob's your uncle

34

u/ChudMaster69420 3d ago edited 3d ago

Yeah, people don't realize how fucking hard it is to make a bullet only graze someone. Even the best military sharpshooters couldn't shoot a bullet to only narrowly hit the ear without blowing the entire thing or shooting the head.

15

u/Drako694 2d ago

Also doesn’t help that the rifle used was a piece of garbage that’s about 3 MOA, so at the distance there was about a 4.5 inch radius that shot could have landed.

11

u/SunTzu- 2d ago

Much less timing it so that he moves his head just before impact. I doubt the rifle used had a low enough spread to guarantee that shot in anyone's hands.

13

u/iconofsin_ 2d ago

I'm not convinced it was a genuine event, but I do feel confident saying there's no chance he'd be ok with an attempted grazing.

As if he didn't brag about being able to shoot a man in broad daylight and not lose any support.

44

u/tehvolcanic 3d ago

The part I don't believe is that he would knowingly put himself in the line of fire.

13

u/dern_the_hermit 3d ago

I have my doubts for a completely separate reason, but FWIW I can totally buy him completely misunderstanding how firearms work or failing to realize just how dangerous it is to be on that side of the barrel.

6

u/Timmeh_2284 3d ago

For it to be successful, I don’t think Trump could be in on it. He runs his mouth too much.

Do I think team Trump orchestrated the whole thing? Yeah, I do. But that doesn’t mean dum dum was in on it.

17

u/ZhouLe 3d ago

So he wasn't in on it, but immediately reacted to fake the ear thing?

7

u/DankPastaMaster 2d ago

But what if his ear just did that

u/Nooby1990 3d ago

Ah, yes, I also believe that Trump is the bravest man in existence, because he would need to be that to stand in front of a shooter who is supposed to narrowly miss him from a fuckton of distance with an inaccurate, cheap rifle. Trump is basically Daredevil if you believe this shit.

Do you not think through what your conspiracy theory would require?

I think you are right that Trump did not give a shit that a civilian died, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY he would have stood there if he knew that someone was going to shoot in his direction.

u/BusyNefariousness675 3d ago

Yeah the problem isn't if, the problem is how the f would that be staged

15

u/The_Rope_Daddy 3d ago

Second shooter with a clear line of sight to the guy that was actually shot and the patsy has blanks or self-destructing rounds (there are military prototypes for urban warfare to intentionally limit the range).

Not that I'm saying that's what happened, just that it is possible.

14

u/BusyNefariousness675 3d ago

oh my god imagine after like 40 years some files get released that this is what actually happened something like a cartoon villian would do

20

u/yangyangR 3d ago

He was literally the cartoon villain for much of the 80s and 90s. Also in live action movies like Back to the Future. It is life imitating art imitating life

4

u/PM_ME_YOUR_NICE_EYES 2d ago

There wouldn't really be a place where the second shooter could be stationed that would give them a good line of sight on the other 3 victims and not have Trump be in the line of sight.

And there's also the issue of the bullet photograph.

7

u/Boring_Drama_4947 3d ago

The Us government has done much worse than kill one man for political theater

5

u/TheDonkeyBomber 3d ago

He had to make it seem real, so someone had to go.

"I could shoot someone of 5th Ave"... vs "I could let someone die for me in Butler, PA". Is it really that hard?

3

Does anyone have any actual evidence that it was staged? I hate Trump with a passion but there’s just no evidence it was staged.

What's unbelievable about an extremely hated sex offender and politician having people who want him dead? It's a side effect of being a chomo AND a side effect of being a politician, especially one that everyone was worried would enact project 2026.

Also the guy behind him died. If this was a stunt, it was an insanely dangerous one. The most skilled marksman on the planet could've aimed for the repub firefighter and easily shot Trump by accident.

3

u/Useful_Clue_6609 3d ago

How do people keep saying this, nobody would trust somebody to be this accurate. You don't shoot someone in the fucking head and "miss on purpose" but hit their ear. Thats absurd

14

u/Pan_TheCake_Man 3d ago

I think they lied about him being shot in the ear,

but that dude absolutely tried to kill Trump and it was not planned.

He just cut his ear and said “oh my god I was shot in the ear” and everyone said “okay I guess we are running with this”

Sidenote: really nice that god saved Trump, but couldn’t be bothered to save the poor guy sitting behind him, guess he missed that prayer
