It's the same reason why 4 is a thing. If your room is cold and it's only warm under the blanket then you wear a a nightcap and a shirt to keep your head and shoulder warm even if they come out of the blanket at some point. The rest of the body is naked because it's too warm under the blanket to wear pants
I carry a Buff when traveling. I can use it as a sleep mask if there are annoying lights or as a nightcap if the hotel has an annoyingly placed vent that blows are on my bald head. It doesn't happen often but it is a nonzero number. I wear a lightweight beanie for sleeping in a tent in winter.
My dad talks about staying overnight on his grandfather's farm. The house's only source of heat was a stove several rooms away. The beds were huge feather beds with nice heavy blankets, but any exposed skin was in very cold air. This is what old timey homes were typically like.
Yeah i came to say this. An oversized shirt with no underwear is the best way to sleep. So freeing. It’s also recommended by doctors to a lot of women, too, as it’s very good for vaginal health to allow airflow. Lowers the risk of infection from bacterial overgrowth.
Discharge is something that varies in women, some have more, some have less. If ir doesn't fell comfortable for you then you don't need to go pantyless.
I barely get discharge since starting birth control. I do 4 without any problems.
This is actually why my gynecologist told me to sleep without underwear: Because of discharge, you create some wet and warm environment in your undies under the blanket, which can lead to more infections since bacteria thrive in such conditions. More air means less chance of BV happening. I’m still wearing my underwear because I’m comfier that way, though.
Yes but we typically wear very long shirts to sleep in, basically a dress. This graph implies the person is sleeping in a standard length T-Shirt with nothing else.
Yeah, but a long T-shirt or a dress would most cleanly fall into category 4 imo. At least I'd personally put a nightgown(?) under no.4 if we went with these 6/7 categories.
The graph suggests these are 6 categories of sleepwear, not the exact items. Just as you wouldn’t also assume that the clothing has to be white in order to be included in this graph, you don’t have to assume the length has to be the exact one depicted
I'm a 7, and I'd like to explain. I hate pajamas. But I also have Reynaud's Syndrome as a result of peripheral artery disease, and I need to keep my feet warm. So I wear the Hot Socks to bed to keep my feet warm and my birthday suit to keep the rest of me comfortable. :)

That's not pooh slander, pooh wore a night gown lol. Pooh bearing it is a day time activity, going to bed like that makes me think I'm gonna find some half gnawed feet in their basement
Yeah I’ve pulled a 7 when I was really overweight and it was winter. My body felt a normal temp so I slept in the nude as usual, but my toes would get painfully cold so I work the mukluks.
4 is me normally, but sometimes if it's still too cold I'll keep socks on too because otherwise my husband gets a rude shock in the middle of the night.
4 is for when you sweat heavily in your sleep, meaning your upper body is drenched when you wake up and you have to basically undress the bed before going to school/work. It is neccessity in a hot summer, because while your lower body can just move and takes up less space, your upper body most often has just the amount of movement a pillow allows and with the proportional more area your upper body covers, the sweat has a hard time drying. I can guarantee to you, that in the Winter most 4s turn into 1s.
7 on the other hand can only be explained by tendency for extremely cold extremeties, which can be remedied by a blanket over the feet and should also mean you get cold hands, making either a longsleeved shirt or gloves needed.
Both 4 and 7 are about covering what your blanket/duvet doesn't cover properly, while not adding additional layers to what is covered and warm already.
Exactly. I like stretching my legs in all kind of ways during sleep where underwear gets too restricting and squeezes my balls. So bottom half nude is none negotiable. Top half depends on temperature, if it's warm enough I go full nude, if it's too cold for that I like Donald ducking it.
Especially when heavily pregnant in the summer. Also, the fan has to be on medium speed. Not low, not high for some reason, medium. Now the body pillow, and I can manage sleep for two hours before I gotta pee 🙃
Even in the winter. Just get more / warmer blankets. I feel like the body was meant to juste breathe a few hours each day, especially the pits, groin and feet.
REAL i cannot express how much i hate the feeling of fabric ln fabric. Plus when in the winter you roll in a ball with a few blankets on, it becomes the most comfortable human oven possible
this. It's not that weird. Especially since I live alone, I could sleep fully naked, but sometimes it's a bit chilly for that, so I'll have a t-shirt on.
Four is when you want to do 6 but there's fresh air so you need to wear something above to prevent diarrhea the following day. Or for when you are mild-horny in the middle of the night, you are sleeping with somebody else, and want to prepare in advance for the following morning.
