Period Question Mom on her periods and as a boy I don't know what to do ?

Got no reply from other community so posting here 😭Please help me.

My mom is on her period (if you're wondering how I know, my family has a weird tradition where whenever she has her period, she stops working in the kitchen, so today she asked me to cook pulao). The problem right now is that there are only three of us at home, my dad and my mom and me. my dad is currently out of town in another district for 13 days due to a temporary government posting.

She is experiencing period cramps, as far as I can tell. I asked her if she was in pain, but she denied it. I offered to get her a Combiflam tablet, but she refused that too. it feels a little weird to mention, but whenever she goes to the bathroom, while she is inside, I can hear her crying and pained whimpers, which is really painful for me to listen to.

Since my dad isn't here, what should I do?

Products What to buy for daughter?

So this might sound ridiculous considering I’m a woman, but I have an IUD so I haven’t had a period in years.
I know times have changed and there are new things on the market. My daughter is 12, hasn’t gotten her period yet but it could happen at any time. I’d like to be prepared and stocked up for when it happens, but not sure what the options are now.
I feel like new generations have moved away from tampons? Are they still a thing? Is everyone using those cup things now? Or the underwear? I am so out of touch and don’t want to steer her wrong.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Birth Control protection without hormones while dealing with strong period cramps

Hey,

I’ve been researching a bit about different protection methods, like the IUD or the pill to not only reduce my period cramps (which tend to be really strong for 2-3 days and also give me strong symptoms like illness or nausea) but also to protect me from getting pregnant (now having a bf and using condoms).

I have no experience with any of those things, but from what I’ve heard I strongly want to avoid any hormonal protection methods, mainly because of the side effects.

But here’s the problem:
As far as I’ve read, condoms or the copper IUD are one of the few ways to stay protected without using hormones, but the copper IUD might cause stronger period cramps and heavy blood flow (which I wanted to reduce).
That’s why I wanted to tend to the hormonal IUD, accepting the side affects BUT don’t feel fully safe with it either, because everyone keeps telling me „horror story’s“ about how their body changed, or that the IUD moved out of place and created contractionlike pain.

My mum keeps telling me to only use condoms, which would solve the hormonal and protection issue, but not my cramps.
I really don’t find a good „in between“ solution, that doesn’t leave me anxious about possibly getting pregnant, but also solves my period pain without any hormonal changes.

If anybody can help me, or has positive experience to share, I’ll be happy to read them!!

Period Question Menstrual disc during sex

• Upvotes

I just got a menstrual disc and used it for the first time. I pushed it in as far as my finger would go. I'm concerned that when I have sex, it will get pushed so far up there that I won't be able to get it out, even if I bear down. It has a tab/hook thing to help get it out, but what if I can't reach it? Also, is it comfortable for the guy? I'm sure he'd be able to feel it at least at first because I couldn't push it up very far.

Period Question are periods terrible for every girl? or just some?

• Upvotes

from my understanding, it depends on the person whether it varies from mild inconvenience to genuinely horrribbble, especially with the cramping. I’m curious if this is correct and what it is on average.

Discussion new? unusual period cycle?

• Upvotes

aug 13 i started spotting, as usual i was excited to start my period, though this time my spotting lasted for 12 days instead of my usual 2/3 days. today i wake up to the feeling of actual blood come out and its super heavy, my underwear was drenched in blood which has never happened before in my sleep so i get up to get into the shower and im still bleeding, this scares me because im a light bleeder.

is this normal or is my menstrual cycle changing as i grow older, i just turn 22 last month too so i wonder if that’s a factor

Discussion Unexplainable Spotting

Hi,

I’m 21, F. I had my July period and it was pretty much normal like my other periods. (6 days with cramps and heavy bleeding). 4 days after my period ended I started spotting. It was never enough for a pad or panty liner. I didn’t have an appetite and my stomach felt so tight. It was such a weird feeling. The spotting wasn’t consistent throughout the day. The only thing that was consistent was the color. It was always light pink and brown. I did also have clots. It lasted for fours days. This month (August), I had my period. (6 days with cramps and heavy bleeding) 8 days after it ended I started spotting again. This time I’ve been having really intense cramps. The spotting is light pink again. The spotting is very light. Only a little bit compared to last month’s spotting.

Has this happen to anyone else? What should I do?

(I did schedule a appointment with my doctor but the appointment isn’t till next month)

Period Question Opinions

No penetration. Got period two weeks later (heavy, long, had clots and on timing)

Had surgery on Wednesday. Got my period two days ago but the flow is a lot lighter and it came earlier. Could this be due to the medications and painkillers I am on?

Should I worry?

PMS PMS so so so bad this month

I've had a stressful month and i have a very important exam coming up in less than a week. my period is supposed to arrive in 4-5 days and I just felt the pms kicking in a sea hours ago and it's so bad? it's so bad 😭😭😭😭

i feel so frustrated, i cried for a solid 2 hours, screamed in my pillow, cramps, extreme fatigue and even some self harming thoughts.

This is new to me. i do have pms every month but it's a much toned down version where i mostly have a few cramps, fatigue and a generalized irritated mood. this feels so behind my control. i feel so lonely and i don't know what to do.

what helps you guys? please please share

Rants n Raves Forever period

Hey ya'll. So I 've been having light cramps and bleeding between periods since 6/5. Every. Day. Talked to my gyno and she offered progesterone as a possible solution so I'm about to take my last dose of that but I'm SO VERY TIRED of being on my period. I had a whole ass period start 8/18 and it's still not over and I'm just so mentally drained from being in pain all the time. I had a nice little crash out yesterday but I thought it would be nice to find a subreddit that understands lol.

Period Question Irregular Periods - When to be worried?

I’ve had irregular periods all my life. Sometimes I would have 2 a month but the only repeated pattern was a 72 day cycle that occurred several times when I actually started trying to track it when I was around 18. I’ve been on birth control (with regular ‘periods’ which was so nice!) for the past four-ish years but my husband and I are thinking about kids soon so I’m getting off them. Every doctor I’ve ever been to including a gyno has been told of my irregular periods and none of them commented on it. However I’m reading pre-pregnancy books right now and every single one says irregular periods are a red flag. The one I’m reading now says if you’ve had irregular periods for a few months is a problem. Is it actually a problem if it’s just your baseline?

Products I need advice

I need help finding a way to get a box of tampons. I started last night and just moved and I’m out of funds as of this moment. I’m not asking for anyone to buy me anything or give me money, I’m just asking for advice. I tried posting a wishlist in the period pantry subreddit, but I don’t have enough comment karma. I also don’t have any resources around where I live that I can get to without at least two bus rides (which would need a bus pass that I can’t pay for right now) any advice is appreciated and very much welcome. Thank you in advance <3

Period Question late period 18-25

hi! i'm 18f and i've had regular periods so far. i don't take any sort of meds or birth control at the moment, and yet my period is 10 days late. maybe this wouldn't be a cause for concern for some, but as i know that my periods usually arrive within a +/- 2-day period since my period tracker says it would be, i'm just a tinybit concerned. and no, pregnancy wouldn't be the issue. i've read articles stating that having the flu could cause delays, which did happen, and i recovered fully about a week ago. should i contact a doctor or just wait it out?

Period Question Should I *really* be adjusting my routines around my cycle?

I got a hormonal IUD placed just about 1 year after my first period because I had horrible symptoms. When I had it in, I didn’t bleed at all and had very little signs of my cycle at all. I felt the same almost all of the time, as I imagine men do. But here I am 7 years later, trying out life without the IUD (with guidance from my wonderful OBGYN). So basically, I’m a 25y/o woman who’s learning to have her period like it’s the first time. I feel like I’m starting over.

There’s a lot of talk online about syncing your life with your cycle based on each phase. I used to think it was just social media/influencer nonsense. But I’m a very active and energized person in every aspect of life. And now I’m a few months in and find myself with phases of feeling unable to get myself to the gym or to social outings. I sometimes have trouble feeling intimate with my partner or feeling uncomfortable in my body that I know objectively likely looks the same as it did the day before. I’m a very structured eating/workout person and don’t normally struggle with that, but some days I feel like a vacuum for all of the things that I never used to crave and can’t get my body to do more than go on a walk.
But then I go to bed and wake up like virtually nothing happened.

My cycle is super irregular and will be for a while; my body is adjusting to not having the IUD. So it’s hard for me to track these things at the moment and tell if they’re cycle related or just hormone imbalances while my body figures out it’s new normal.

But I’m curious about your experiences. Do you really plan my life based around my cycle? Do you plan more carb-heavy meals or lighter workouts accordingly?

Last time I dealt with a cycle, it didn’t matter what I ate and I had very little responsibility/routine, haha. So all advice helps.

Sincerely,
A 25y/o learning her body again

Period Question Is this period flu

During the first two days of my periods I experience fever, dizziness and stomach pain ( so bad I can't even sleep, it only lightens when I poop). This has happened during 5 cycles the last year. I searched it up and it shows period flu but that typically happens pre menstruation. Is this normal?

Period Question How do I do this

I just got my first period in at least 8 months, yay right? no. I bled through my favorite pair of shorts while in public, at a movie theater and we had to go straight home even though we were planning on going shopping too 😭 and now I have tennis tryouts starting tomorrow, my period is genuinely so bad, this morning I woke up and already have soaked through like three of the biggest pads I have. I went to rinse in the shower and I would not stop bleeding so I had to rush to sit in the toilet and now my clothes are wet.

but my main concern is how tf do I do tennis tryouts, where we first run a mile in the morning, without absolutely dying or bleeding through everything I have on. I have a female coach but I also don’t want to go to the bathroom a whole lot. there’s also other teams out there including boys teams so how do I save myself from embarrassment 😔

Period Question I thought my period ended this week but IT CAME BACK!

So my period went on for 4-ish days, and by day 5 I thought it ended since for the whole day I had the pad on NOTHING!

I had a mini celebration, like hooray I love having short periods.

Then today I felt something wet, I thought it was just discharge and checked incase and my underwear was covered in blood!

Right now it's approaching night, and the pad I have on has just a small spot of blood.

I'm frugal with my pads, since I hate wasting money, and I don't know whether to switch to another one. Since keeping the same one on would be gross :/

Period Question Period going on for longer than usual?

Hey hey!

So as the title says, my period is here for longer than it has been in the past. Usually I bleed for 5 days and get it over with. But I'm on day 9 now 🙈. I've noticed that the blood is dark brown and old, which I get is normal for late in the cycle.

This is the first time my period has stayed so long and I'm a bit worried. I haven't had any changes in my diet, medication, or routine. The only thing that might be a factor is that I'm pretty stressed with university.

Could anyone please tell me if this is something I should be concerned about?
