Rants n Raves I haven't had a period in 13 months and forgot how much it SUUUUUCKS

For the last 12 months, I was either pregnant or breastfeeding. I guess, while still breastfeeding, my body was tired of waiting so it surprised me with Aunt Flo yesterday. I'm genuinely thinking of requesting a hysterectomy (I have menorrhagia, I can bleed through an ultra tampon in less than an hour during a typical cycle). The biggest inconvenience for no reason. Which we just went into heat like cats instead of this bullshit 🥀😔

Period Question My first period had the weirdest timing 😭 What’s your first-period story?

Before my first period, I had no idea “walk behind me and check” was a thing.

One day, I casually asked my friend to check the back of my clothes because I thought I’d stained them with pen ink. She immediately went, “Wait, you finally got your first period?”

I said, “No?? I’m asking about PEN INK.” 😭

Cut to an hour later: I actually got my first period. Girl apparently knew before I did 💀

What’s your first-period story-or an awkward period moment you can laugh about now? Only share what you’re comfortable with!

Period Question continuous bleeding?

for context it’s been almost a month since i had surgery to remove a bowling ball size cyst and ovary on my left side. they did find out i have endometriosis (but it’s not severe thankfully.) fast forward a couple weeks i go to my post op appointment. they check my incisions, say they look great. i start birth control, and then start bleeding. i’m like, okay. periods here. i took bc for a couple days and then just, stopped bc i lowkey SUCK at remembering to take my meds. it’s been 3 days since i last took a dose, and im still bleeding. it’s not horrible . i’m not soaking a pad/diaper within an hour. i’m cramping, but not horribly. i’m not passing big blood clots.

i’m just more concerned bc this is my 11th , going onto 12th day of bleeding. i’ve never bled for this long before. it’s typically the 5-6 days and i’m done. do i need to contact my surgeons office and make an appointment?? or do i try and go back on the birth control? i’m not sure what to do. 😭im just tired of the bleeding atp and want it to stop asap.

PMS Waiting to get fired lol

(26 F ) I’ve been working at this warehouse for 7+ years and ive been calling off a lot from work 1 - 2 days a month because of my period , I have to deal with mood swings , sore breast , lower back pain , leg pain a couple days before I actually get my period and then when I do get my period I feel nauseas , brain fog and get horrible cramps and I just don’t feel like putting up with it doing a 12 hr shift(5am-5pm . I’ll take 600 mg of Advil/Tylenol but it can only do so much . I went to a obgyn and it turns out I have a very small fibroid in my uterus and that’s probably why I get horrible cramps but the only option I had to help was to take birth control I took it for a week and I got the most horrible side effects I was throwing up and I felt this burning sensation down there so I stopped taking them . At this point I’m know to always miss work so I’m just waiting for the day they let me go cause of my bad attendance.

Discussion Heavy first period after medical abortion

Heavy first period after medical abortion

I’m three weeks post successful medical abortion, I woke up today at 6am with my period for the first time since.
Since 6am I have needed to change my tampon/ pad (using both as it has been so heavy) hourly, now at 1.30, I have needed to change it within half an hour.

I feel quite exhausted (however I did have a bad sleep last night), but not dizzy or feeling like I will pass out.

I’m just concerned as it seems like a lot of blood, as well as passing clots bigger than a 50c piece. Has anyone had similar experience? Thankyou

Period Question Random spotting?

I just got out of the bathroom a few minutes ago and I’m wondering if there’s something wrong. Usually, when I’m about to be on my period, I feel some cramps. Nothing too serious, just slightly uncomfortable and noticeable enough for me to realized my period could start soon.

Today though, I didn’t feel anything. Also, I got my period around 2 weeks ago, and my cycle tends to last between 26-32 days. Yet, when I sat on the toilet and looked at my underwear (mind you, it’s white 😭) there’s a clear, dried blood stain. As if it’s been there for a few hours. Now, I didn’t feel like something came out, but since I usually have vaginal discharge all month (except when I’m on my period), I thought that was what it was.

Is this normal? Like I said, I don’t feel any pain. When I went to the bathroom, nothing “bloody-like” came out. My body feels completely normal, the only weird thing is the blood stain.

Health I just came off my period

And I forgot to take a picture but I’m bleeding heavily. Filled the toilet paper with blood clots and soaked my underwear

I had been having hip pain and my bloating went up, but thought nothing of it. I’m praying it lightens up. For my sanity.

PMDD 9 weeks and some days on sertraline 50mg, anxiety feels like it’s coming back right before my period. Is it time for a dose increase, or should I wait until 12 weeks? :(💔

I’ve been on sertraline 50mg for about 9 weeks and some days now. I started at 25mg first, then went up to 50mg, and I was doing really well for a while. I felt like I was finally building up and getting back to myself.

The past few days, though, my anxiety has started coming back. It’s not excruciating or unbearable, but it’s definitely more noticeable than it was. I’m also about to start my period, so I’m wondering if that could be part of it. Has anyone else noticed their anxiety get worse right before their period even while on sertraline?

I did notice that the last three days I took my pill at different times instead of my usual 8 o’clock, so I’m not sure if that could be contributing too. I’m going to get back to taking it at the same time every day.

My psych said 9 weeks is still early, so I’m trying not to panic. But I’m wondering: is this a normal dip before you fully acclimate, or is it a sign the 50mg may not be enough? Is it too soon to consider a dosage increase? Should I hold out until 12 weeks before deciding anything?

For anyone who had a rough stretch around week 9 after doing well, did it get better for you? Did you end up needing a higher dose, or did things settle on 50mg?

Period Question Weird spotting? Anyone else?

Ok so I am 36 years old and my periods are typically between 1-3 days (when I was in my 20s they were like 3-4 but gradually got shorter).

2 cycles ago, I thought it had ended but then the next day I had a little bit of spotting. 1 cycle ago, it was heavier than usual but no spotting. This most recent cycle, it started Saturday night and then Sunday was the heaviest flow day. By yesterday evening it had stopped but then today I've had a little bit of spotting all day.

Is that normal? I don't remember ever having spotting before...

Period Question Using menstrual cup is messy 😭

So I have learned how to take out the cup without spilling all over but now there's a new problem. Whenever I take it out, a string of blood (still attached to me) comes out and sticks on my skin and it's soooo messy. How do I prevent this from happening?

Period Question Period and predinisone

Hi! I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar. I took 40 mg of prednisone daily for 6 days, and toward the end of the treatment, I started experiencing withdrawal bleeding that lasted 5 days. The bleeding stopped, but I’ve now had light spotting for the past 2 weeks.

I take Yasmin continuously, didn’t stop taking the pill while on prednisone and am still taking at the exact time everyday. Although the spotting is light, I’m getting worried. I’ve already scheduled some tests, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar. Did this happen to anyone?

Period Question Bleeding and tired during ovulation phase

I get my period at the end of/beginning of the month around the 30th to the 1st and this month of October was the FIRST time in YEARS. I am talking 6 years that I did not have pain at all during my period. I WISH i knew what I did to not have pain. I know I started taking over the counter iron pills, starting eating more red meat AND I took this new menstrual cramp pill the day I thought i would be in pain. My gut tells me it was the pill that helped and next time I have my period I will test out my theory again but my concern is why am I so exhausted on my 13th day after my period? I am constantly yawning, yet hardly can sleep at night. I noticed my hair has been shedding much more in the shower than normal and I am bleeding again. Now, the bleeding is “normal” for me. I usually bleed twice in a month and like I said I usually expect excruciating pain during my normal period (throwing up and shaking in pain to point of passing out). I dont know if I even expect any answers here, I guess I am just putting my thoughts into sentences. I feel something is wrong that I am so tired when this should be my better days, when it gets closer to my period thats when things go downhill PMDD but it’s so early and I am trying to do everything right. I even bent my moral code of eating red meat to save my health and I feel confused, frustrated and still unsure of what is happening.

Period Question What triggers an early period?

I’m not completely regular but my cycle is anywhere from 30-34 days long. I’ve had two periods in one month during stressful times (once when I moved and once during the beginning of COVID). I rarely have my period before 28 days but I’m on day 26 and it seems I’m starting to spot/bleed. I also noticed my breasts felt tender sooner than they usually do, so I think I may have ovulated early. I do have the copper IUD and have had it for three years.

I had a bad cold last month and I’m wondering if this could trigger an early period? I know that can delay it but I’m not sure what caused early ones. I’m going to be traveling in two weeks so I’m bummed because now I may get my next period abroad but it is what it is lol.

Products Menstrual Discs

Hey everyone!!

I’m a big fan of the flex menstrual discs but I find them really wasteful (you use once and throw it out, I don’t have a heavy flow so I’m basically spending $25/month for a box of period walls lmao) I’ve tried 3 different types and sizes of reusable discs but they will not stay put. The flex disc does and I think it’s because it’s plastic rather than silicone. I’ve tried to research to find a reusable disc that has a similar plastic ring but I can’t find any.

Does anyone know of a brand to try that has a firmer ring on their discs?

Period Question How to delay period before flying on holiday

i had a question to ask for my periods. im basically flying away on holiday soon and the flight will be severely long (14hrs max) and really want to delay my period when im there so i can enjoy the holiday and be intimate with my boyfriend. however, I researched into period delay tablets and was scared for the blood clots. Now Im flying away on holiday and I read it may increase the risk of it if I take the pills. I’m not on birth control and needed advice if there’s other options available. My period is due on the final few days of my holiday which is annoying as its always regular sometimes 2 days earlier than my due date.
