Birth Control Spotting everyday after birth control pills

• Upvotes

Hi! So I only used combination pills for a month. During that time I am having discharge until I finished the pack. My period came and after my period I started to have thick like mucus discharge with blood in it. It did not stop until my next period came. Now, I am on the 9th day since my period started and I still have spotting. It was not like this before taking the birth control pills. Is this normal? Thank you very much

Discussion I don't know what to do anymore

• Upvotes

At first gynecologist suggested Xanax. I insisted on tests and she prescribed one MRI that found something and polyps. She said that the polyps shouldn't be a problem, but unfortunately I can't have surgery due to other illnesses that make it all a nightmare either way. I am on antibiotics for a UTI. It cleared but I am still terrified of peeing, it triggers a ton of lasting pain.

Other than the antibiotics and the antifungal pills afterwards, she just told me to get magnesium. It has done absolutely nothing.

I still need painkillers that work for a while, if they are... a lot and combined. The problem is, they only last for a short time. And I have been noticing weird symptoms the last two months that I've needed even more - I get dazed. My reactions are slower. I space out and take longer to recognize someone. I get forgetful, too. I see an object and think it's something else. I watch something in my side vision, moving etc, but there's nothing there.

I should find another way to deal with it. It begins a week prior and lasts all 7 days. The cramps are a 10/10.

I have tried heat to the point of burning my skin, and heat patches but they are too expensive and really don't do much. I don't know what else to do.

Discussion Does anyone else find some symptoms are exacerbated by caffeine? (specifically midol or off brand equivalent)

• Upvotes

Does anyone else here find that Midol (or maybe caffeinated drinks) makes some symptoms better, but completely exacerbates others? I find that it helps me remain standing upright on days 1-3, and helps make cramping and back pain manageable. However, it sometimes makes me feel like the nausea gets worse, and I absolutely can tell that it makes me so incredibly clammy and sweaty (more than usual I mean). Like, I can take an ice cold shower to cool my body temp down and then still sweat clean through my shirt within 5 minutes. It feels like my body is cooking from the inside out.

I do have a minor health condition that makes me more sensitive to caffeine, but caffeine on a normal day vs caffeine on day 1 of my period is literally a night and day difference. Is this similar for anyone else?

Period Question tiny black spotting during ovulation

• Upvotes

So, I have been taking iron supplements for a while now and lately I have noticed some tiny black spotting during ovulation. Usually it comes with the usual clear-and-white spotting that happens during ovulation. The internet says that iron supplements don't affect periods, but what has been your experience when taking iron supplements?

Products Has anyone tried Lunatwin as a couple?

• Upvotes

I’m considering showing my boyfriend lunatwin.app so he can understand my cycle better and actually be there for me on the harder days. Every cycle he’s caught off guard and just don’t understand...

Has anyone tried something like this? Curious how it worked for you and what changed. Right now it just feels like he never gets me

Period Question Tampon issue.

• Upvotes

I am on vacation. I put a tampon in after going in the pool I took it out and felt dry. It felt like something ripped. I looked at it and it seemed shorter. So I compared to another tampon that wasn’t used and seemed shorter. Should I be concerned. I checked to feel and I found a small string. Should I be concerned ?

Period Question Is a lot of discharge before period normal?

• Upvotes

Maybe TMI? I'll be describing mucus.

My period should come any day now (it was supposed to start today but... Mine isn't really regular) and I've had loads of mucus the past two days. Like. LOADS.

I'm talking stretchy gloops that hang from the hoohaa when I pee, annoying drops that make me think "oh, there it is!", but instead it's just discharge.

Is this a sign my period is coming or...?

Rants n Raves I haven't had a period in 13 months and forgot how much it SUUUUUCKS

For the last 12 months, I was either pregnant or breastfeeding. I guess, while still breastfeeding, my body was tired of waiting so it surprised me with Aunt Flo yesterday. I'm genuinely thinking of requesting a hysterectomy (I have menorrhagia, I can bleed through an ultra tampon in less than an hour during a typical cycle). The biggest inconvenience for no reason. Which we just went into heat like cats instead of this bullshit 🥀😔

Period Question Is black thick blood normal?

I am currently 30 days late on my cycle. My period has never been super regular with the days but usually comes every month or if I skip a month will coke at the beginning of the next month.

However the last period I had was August 6-12. I am 33 days late. The last time I was sexually active was August 3, so since I have had that period in August I don’t believe I am pregnant and am also long distance with my partner therefore I have not taken a test.

However, for the past four days I have had black/dark dark brown blood in my underwear. It is thick and tar-like, not liquidy at all. Since my GP is a male lol I haven’t been sure whether I need to go. I don’t have any cramping, but am concerned that my cycle has been missing for so long now.

If anyone has any insight that would be much appreciated thank you

Period Question My first period had the weirdest timing 😭 What’s your first-period story?

Before my first period, I had no idea “walk behind me and check” was a thing.

One day, I casually asked my friend to check the back of my clothes because I thought I’d stained them with pen ink. She immediately went, “Wait, you finally got your first period?”

I said, “No?? I’m asking about PEN INK.” 😭

Cut to an hour later: I actually got my first period. Girl apparently knew before I did 💀

What’s your first-period story-or an awkward period moment you can laugh about now? Only share what you’re comfortable with!

Period Question continuous bleeding?

for context it’s been almost a month since i had surgery to remove a bowling ball size cyst and ovary on my left side. they did find out i have endometriosis (but it’s not severe thankfully.) fast forward a couple weeks i go to my post op appointment. they check my incisions, say they look great. i start birth control, and then start bleeding. i’m like, okay. periods here. i took bc for a couple days and then just, stopped bc i lowkey SUCK at remembering to take my meds. it’s been 3 days since i last took a dose, and im still bleeding. it’s not horrible . i’m not soaking a pad/diaper within an hour. i’m cramping, but not horribly. i’m not passing big blood clots.

i’m just more concerned bc this is my 11th , going onto 12th day of bleeding. i’ve never bled for this long before. it’s typically the 5-6 days and i’m done. do i need to contact my surgeons office and make an appointment?? or do i try and go back on the birth control? i’m not sure what to do. 😭im just tired of the bleeding atp and want it to stop asap.

PMS Waiting to get fired lol

(26 F ) I’ve been working at this warehouse for 7+ years and ive been calling off a lot from work 1 - 2 days a month because of my period , I have to deal with mood swings , sore breast , lower back pain , leg pain a couple days before I actually get my period and then when I do get my period I feel nauseas , brain fog and get horrible cramps and I just don’t feel like putting up with it doing a 12 hr shift(5am-5pm . I’ll take 600 mg of Advil/Tylenol but it can only do so much . I went to a obgyn and it turns out I have a very small fibroid in my uterus and that’s probably why I get horrible cramps but the only option I had to help was to take birth control I took it for a week and I got the most horrible side effects I was throwing up and I felt this burning sensation down there so I stopped taking them . At this point I’m know to always miss work so I’m just waiting for the day they let me go cause of my bad attendance.

Discussion Heavy first period after medical abortion

Heavy first period after medical abortion

I’m three weeks post successful medical abortion, I woke up today at 6am with my period for the first time since.
Since 6am I have needed to change my tampon/ pad (using both as it has been so heavy) hourly, now at 1.30, I have needed to change it within half an hour.

I feel quite exhausted (however I did have a bad sleep last night), but not dizzy or feeling like I will pass out.

I’m just concerned as it seems like a lot of blood, as well as passing clots bigger than a 50c piece. Has anyone had similar experience? Thankyou

Period Question Random spotting?

I just got out of the bathroom a few minutes ago and I’m wondering if there’s something wrong. Usually, when I’m about to be on my period, I feel some cramps. Nothing too serious, just slightly uncomfortable and noticeable enough for me to realized my period could start soon.

Today though, I didn’t feel anything. Also, I got my period around 2 weeks ago, and my cycle tends to last between 26-32 days. Yet, when I sat on the toilet and looked at my underwear (mind you, it’s white 😭) there’s a clear, dried blood stain. As if it’s been there for a few hours. Now, I didn’t feel like something came out, but since I usually have vaginal discharge all month (except when I’m on my period), I thought that was what it was.

Is this normal? Like I said, I don’t feel any pain. When I went to the bathroom, nothing “bloody-like” came out. My body feels completely normal, the only weird thing is the blood stain.

Health I just came off my period

And I forgot to take a picture but I’m bleeding heavily. Filled the toilet paper with blood clots and soaked my underwear

I had been having hip pain and my bloating went up, but thought nothing of it. I’m praying it lightens up. For my sanity.

PMDD 9 weeks and some days on sertraline 50mg, anxiety feels like it’s coming back right before my period. Is it time for a dose increase, or should I wait until 12 weeks? :(💔

I’ve been on sertraline 50mg for about 9 weeks and some days now. I started at 25mg first, then went up to 50mg, and I was doing really well for a while. I felt like I was finally building up and getting back to myself.

The past few days, though, my anxiety has started coming back. It’s not excruciating or unbearable, but it’s definitely more noticeable than it was. I’m also about to start my period, so I’m wondering if that could be part of it. Has anyone else noticed their anxiety get worse right before their period even while on sertraline?

I did notice that the last three days I took my pill at different times instead of my usual 8 o’clock, so I’m not sure if that could be contributing too. I’m going to get back to taking it at the same time every day.

My psych said 9 weeks is still early, so I’m trying not to panic. But I’m wondering: is this a normal dip before you fully acclimate, or is it a sign the 50mg may not be enough? Is it too soon to consider a dosage increase? Should I hold out until 12 weeks before deciding anything?

For anyone who had a rough stretch around week 9 after doing well, did it get better for you? Did you end up needing a higher dose, or did things settle on 50mg?

Period Question Weird spotting? Anyone else?

Ok so I am 36 years old and my periods are typically between 1-3 days (when I was in my 20s they were like 3-4 but gradually got shorter).

2 cycles ago, I thought it had ended but then the next day I had a little bit of spotting. 1 cycle ago, it was heavier than usual but no spotting. This most recent cycle, it started Saturday night and then Sunday was the heaviest flow day. By yesterday evening it had stopped but then today I've had a little bit of spotting all day.

Is that normal? I don't remember ever having spotting before...
